    Hi Attorney Somm, I have almost all the super seconds you mentioned from 05', 09, and 10 in my cellar. Believe it or not I haven't opened a single one, nor have I had the pleasure/privilege of tasting any 2nd growth Bordeaux yet. I've only been collecting wines since about 2009 so I suppose I'm in for a real treat one of these years!

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Yes, sounds like you have an excellent collection started. It is not too early to try one of the 2009s. That is an early drinking vintage whereas 05 and 10 are much more structured. So the first time you try one, I would suggest an 09. Cheers!

    what is the price range for these second growth wines? palmer runs 119.00 a bottle in miami but its considered 3rd growth so maybe better priced

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  Рік тому

      On second growths, La Mission Haut-Brion is almost as much as the first growths (average on Wine Searcher for 2020 is $386) whereas Leoville Barton is closer to $100. This video is only about the “super seconds” though, not just second growths generally. That is why Palmer is included and Barton is not.

    On the right bank, assuming Cheval Blanc, Ausone, Angelus, Pavie, Petrus and Le Pin are equivalent of first growths . Then the super seconds would be Figeac, VCC and La Conseillante.

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  2 роки тому

      Thanks for weighing in! In my view, Pavie might fit better in the second group, but agree with the rest of it.

    • @HumbleGnome

      I would put Pavie and Angelus in the second category… and I would add Lafleur to the first category and Trotanoy and Valandraud to the second one.

    I find that many Super 2nds try to mimic Pauillac, instead of their specific area. That's why everybody wants them.
    If you include Pontet Canet(5th), why not Lynch Bages(5th)?

    Thank you very much for this very nice and learnful video!:-) But - I have some objections! The Château Montrose imho never gets ripe - it's always impressive, but never ripe! I have the same problem with Château Latour - always impressive, but never ripe! I had once a huge vertical of Château Latour going back even further than 1945, but these wines get never ripe! The bottles were in good shape, a very good friend that I know since 40 years organized that tasting. The best vintage was 1958 btw. My conclusion is that I will never buy Château Montrose anymore and never buy Château Latour anymore. But I like Château Léoville Las Cases and Château Palmer.

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  2 роки тому

      Thanks very much for weighing in and sharing your experience. That must have been an incredible Latour tasting! I do think the Montrose style has changed a bit more recently (eg, 2015) but agree the older vintages were more challenging. I’m a big fan of LLC and Palmer as well. Cheers!

    Perhaps talking to the camera rather than reading a script to the camera will come off more natural. As it is, the unnatural pace, your eyes looking slightly to the side, and the frequent edit cuts made the viewing experience displeasing. Kind of like an old Cal Worthington advert.

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  2 роки тому

      Thank you for watching and your feedback. I do all the work on my channel personally. Editing has been something I have had to learn from scratch. I understand there is room for improvement. The edits are to remove the space between sentences as YT gurus advise to eliminate those. Some advise that they like that; others do not. Also, I am not reading. My notes are below and I do not look down.

      Also, I know of a talented, intelligent Master of Wine student who published outstanding UA-cam videos about wine who basically quit publishing here because he did not appreciate comments like this one about his pronunciation. You might try being more constructive in the future. Also, I do spend time working on pronunciation before each video but overlooked this estate. Thanks for watching.

      @@AttorneySomm Your videos are interesting and informative and that's why I watch them. Thanks for making them. I appreciate it.
      With that being said, If I notice something or think something is noteworthy, I'll make a comment on it for whomever may find it interesting. If you don't like it you can ignore it, or call it out for being false. What you can't do is dictate what gets commented on and how its done. That's up to UA-cam and its ToS. Or, you can close the entire comment section if you don't think you can handle it. You may think my comment wasn't "constructive", but at least now you and your viewers know. I like to believe you're not that fragile that this will stop you from producing new vids.

      Hotnub: Manners will never be laid out in a ToS, and especially when you remain anonymous it's particularly idiotic to dictate who is supposed to handle what who actually put themselves out there with something.
