Besides Shadow being a buzzkill, it was pretty solid. Good character moments between the gang.
I liked it, I love seeing the characters interact in a friendly manner.
Tangle was mentioned in Frontiers, Starline was mentioned in Takeover, and now Jewel (and the Restoration) was mentioned in TailsTube.
Though Starline was crushed to death where he went villainous breakdown.

I found this episode really interesting, because it did talk about some important points about the Canon, like the IDW comics and games. Tangle is an important and interesting character, because if I'm correct, she only appears in the IDW comics. If I'm correct on this one, I don't think she appears in any of the Sonic games. She is mentioned in Frontiers in that funny little quote that Sonic says at some point during the game. I'm sure that she'll come more in handy as the series continues.
Tangle is in Sonic Forces Speed Battle mobile game. Along with Whisper the Wolf and not too long ago, they added Surge the Tenrec. So, the IDW comic characters are getting more attention.
TailsTubes are always great! I didn't expect this, but it's nice for them to do one for the holidays. I still wish Kirk Thornton would do the deeper voice for Shadow he did in Forces because I don't think the higher pitch from games like Team Sonic Racing really works too well for Shadow.
5:49 Is a name drop that significant? I mean, Robotnik just mentioned that she wants to do more family activities. I guess you could consider that a lore piece, but it probably won't be showcased that much.

Jewel the Beetle is the current Restoration leader and the Restoration HQ used to be located in east and west of Central City and Echo Mine. But now located in Emeraldville Ruins.

My only small nitpick is that they didn’t have the original voice actors for Rouge and Omega. Other than that, great episode.
Maybe they were busy? Voice actors voice more than just one character.

If Tangle name being mentioned counted as IDW being cannon back then, then the same would've applied to Sonic Boom when Sticks was mentioned. Even more so in Booms case since that line was actually in the main story's ending rather then some off to side easily missed monologue.
Frankly I think people only cited that nonsense back then because they REALLY wanted IDW to be cannon, regardless of the logic behind their reasoning.

This TailsTube video was great and I love these so much. I really like how they gave us some new characters in the TailsTube video and this was honestly pretty much random to me. Shadows voice was really good and Omega’s was great. Eggman’s appearance in that TailsTube video was awesome and I love it. While always Chris Happy holidays)

Probably because him immediatly going back to how he was would be jarring, they're clearly trying to smooth the characters into better roles.

These TailsTube videos are so good and I always get a laugh out of my boy Sonic in those videos. I really enjoyed watching TailsTube and I always go back and rewatch some of them. Shadow’s voice was great and Omega’s voice was great too. The ending of the video was pretty funny and good. While always Happy Holidays Chris)

It does not mean much until aspects of IDW are used in the games in a meaningful manner, otherwise its all just screams "Hey IDW fans we said _X_ , you can start clapping now!"
IDW being canon isn’t even debatable, every authority on the franchise I’ve seen talk about it say it’s canon.

Sage in Sonic is definitely the most important character in Sonic. We need more of her and Eggman interactions. Maybe after we defeat a boss, Sage will revive the enemies and make them 10x stronger.

Some cons that I had with this episode:
1. It was great to see Team Dark reunited once more, but why does Sega continue to insist that it's not canon?
2. Shadow, to me, seems to still be written as an over-the-top edgelord. Why are we still making that mistake, Sonic Team? You need to draw more of his personality from SA2 to 06 more than his spin-off game.
3. It seems pretty apparent to me that the meta era is still in full swing, and if this doesn't change quick because of "mandates," Sonic's Renaissance might as well be as good as dead on arrival.
Let's also talk about some things that I enjoyed:
1. Sonic and Amy's dynamic seems to be much better written than any of the meta era games (excluding Frontiers, in which she is actually worth something). This needs to continue to develop.
2. Even Eggman needs something positive every now and again. It was nice to have that interaction between him and Tails.
3. Having Team Dark reunite was pretty nostalgic for me. Hopefully we'll see them together more often instead of just being there for the sake of being there.

2. He clearly appreciates the gift given to him, that's more than you could say about before.

The funny thing is Sonic actually teaches men how to be attractive to girls. Just be aloof. It's a legitimate strategy that works. lol
I see people complaining about Shadow but maybe this is a setup for something great with him. He’s been acting edgy for a while however you can write of Generations since you had to fight him. I think they could tap into Forces for a Shadow arc. Get Ian Flynn to write a mandates Shadow and Infinite. Shadow’s arc is to remember what it was like to have friends. You see Shadow after Forces feeling responsible for those events because of how he treated infinite and how he should have either killed him or recruited him. Then he or someone else breaks him Infinite out the Phantom Ruby maybe even Sonic in another game does it and this takes place at the same time as the latter half of a game. By the end 06 Shadow is back caring about his friends being a nice guy and he starts up G.U.N. again after Eggman disbanded it getting Rouge Omega Infinite Tangle Whisper and team chaotix as their first agents

You will not believe how in denial the folks at the Sonic Wiki forums are about IDW being canon. They do not want it and will argue into the sun how none of these confirm it.
Also, just when I thought Kirk Thornton could work as Shadow, this just reminded me of how badly he was miscast.
Unfortunately, I am not at all surprised. Especially considering this fan base. You'd be surprised how careful I have to be when explained to someone at a con that I'm a fan of Sonic.
Good they shouldn't accept IDW as canon. Most stuff is fine but their OCs are horrendously designed and written.

A big part of the reason people doubt IDW is cannon is because of the first two major occasions of idiotic parts of the fanbase jumping the gun going "OMG IDW IS CANNON NOW"
1: Tangle being mentioned in frontiers, which is meaningless because then Sticks is also mentioned(If Boom was not cannon from, neither would IDW be), can be taken as just an easter egg with how unrelated to the game's story it is and that fact that is only in the english translation of Frontiers
2: "OMG IDW IS CANNON, IAN FLYN SAID SO!"
Ian Flyn on a podcast that I'm pretty fucking sure is not official stated that the people in charge of the lore are "-looking into bringing the Sonic stories together, so as long as there are no conflicting issues *Pause* we should be good?"
So yeah, I'm not shocked at all that there are still plenty of people who don't think its cannon. The fact that Sonic hub titled the video "IDW CANON CONFIRMATION?!" months after official representatives from Sega have stated it as cannon should tell you all the need to know about how fucking confusing it is.
The fact there has been no opportunity for the games to actually use this cannonicity yet does not help either.
Firstly, is Roger Craig Smith voicing Omega?
Also, on the TV was gameplay from Nights in which NiGHTS made an appearance in SA1's Casinopolis as a Pinball Game.
I even saw Big the Cat Snowman in the back and the Rhythm Badge on the Shelf.
Lastly the book Tails Gifted Eggman has E-102y Gamma on the book cover.
This means that SA1 is making a return

NO SHADOW WAS NOT a EDGELORD HERE. look up the definition, cause at this point that word has lost all meaning in some people's heads.
In the beginning he thought he was called over because there was a crisis that needed the do deal with.
Once he found out that it wasn't the he left cause he has his priorities. Then in the end he came back because he heard some commotion(Which was Eggman crashing through Tails workshop).
Then he saw, opened & accepted his gift.
He was well in character & wasn't an edgelord.

Who directed this Tails Tube #6?! Giving someone a dead anything is an implication that the giver of the present wants the receiver of the present to be dead. I hope this Tails Tube was only streamed in North America and that this gift to Amy was suppose to be a joke. I cannot stress how much I HATE this direction SEGA seems hell bent sticking Shadow with where he’s just grumpy, angsty, unnecessarily edgelord the hedgehog. I've always said, bringing the characters in is one thing, but the events have never once been acknowledged or alluded to.
The Restoration could easily fit as a background thing going on.
But if Mr Tinker, the Battle for Angel Island and the Metal Virus did occur, then they had ample time to bring them up someway in Frontiers. But they didn't.
That's my point.
Plus the characters' actions and decisions in Frontiers don't match up with what the comics have:
- Tails got over Forces and Infinite in the comic. Frontiers shows he hasn't.
- Why would Knuckles want to leave Angel Island after the massive battle for it and the Metal Virus?
- Eggman brings up Sage as the first time he's created a being like her. Then where does Belle fit?
- Amy isn't even Amy in the comic, she's Sally. Frontiers also doesn't showcase any prominent leadership skills from her. She's not the same character.
Plus with how the comics are currently going, you really think the events will organically flow into Frontiers without bending the narrative?
The games shouldn't bend to extended media. It should always be vice-versa.
yeah I feel like Tails went through the "Grow up and face your fears" arc like 3 different times lol. But yeah overall theres gonna need to be something that intertwines all of this better going forward given the new position on the comics being canon. So well see I guess
Amy was always described as bossy and pushy in her fan girl era. It might not be fleshed out but it’s understandable that in 6 months she was pushed to be more serious and leader like. She followed Knuckles like his second in command in the resistance.

I hate most IDW designs... the characters look really ugly, overdesigned and kinda out of place next to the game characters.
Making them canon is one of the worst decisions they could have made.
They just don't belong. Have you seen Belle? Who came up with this horrible mistake? And how was her design actually approved?
Whisper, Jewel, the skunks.. all look like bad deviantart OCs, and some of them like Whisper and Surge are written in this weird way that make me think someone on staff is coping with their own mental illnesses via these charcters and it's not deep or touching or remotely interesting.
It's either boring or really uncomfortable to read.
I'm totally fine with IDW as long as it's confined to their own continuity. Now Sonic canon is even more converluded with stuff and characters I couldn't care less for.
