When I first heard VH3 I thought Eddie MADE Gary sound as close to Sammy on purpose.....

10-2 Carnival. Van Gary is pretty out there, a bit much prog for me. Carnival isn't one of my favorites but I don't think it's terrible. I do agree some of it sounds unfinished though.
Thanks so much Ralph! Great video as always. I have to agree about Van Gina II here. Gary sounds way too much like Sammy. I may not like a lot of Carnival, but for me it's a clean sweep

I will have to go listen to Carnival of Souls. Frankly it’s two bands output that I had given up on at that point. Dave set the bar too high so I won’t even bother with the Van Gina nonsense.

Dont know what you're hearing, but Childhoods End is brilliantly well written. And co written by kulick and thayer, so no one from outside . Comparing it to Read My Body, is just plain cruel.

Oof... VH3 is an interesting mess. I think it's the beginning of Ed's genius-crack, that period where geniuses break and their suffering exposes itself. For Ed, I think it lasted until he got help circa 2006. There are brief shining moments on VH3 (the last 90 seconds of 'One I Want' is very good), but Ed was not in a good place at the time and I think the album reflects that.
Carnival is decent, contrived as it is. VH3 sucks, outside of a couple tracks

Carnival of souls actually isn't bad imo but imo the last really good album from them is Revenge. But van Halen iii sucks. I didn't hate Sammy but I didn't love it either but man this album is bad
I'm one of those odd people that prefer COS to Revenge.
Yes revenge was a great album. Heavy, catchy and party songs.
Carnival is heavy, not catchy and no party songs. Its okay just not memorable.
Another thing about VH albums….is that not just Dave left, but so did Ted, and that was a HUGE deal. The Chinese on those first 6 albums, was just unmatched.
I don’t mind How Many Say I…and that piano is not out of tune, the singing is. Cherone is flat. I tune piano’s, as did my father…and his playing is awesome. But I get what you’re hearing. Cherone is flat! lol. Ed is too…but he’s not trying to sing like the way we expected.

I dig VH3. Not so much for the Carnival of Souls album.
Couple tracks off Van Halen III are very interested imo, still tho you would be a fool to say it's not the worst Van Halen album, it absolutely is. Still tho I really like Ballot or the Bullet, One I Want, From Afar, A Year to the Day, and Dirty Water Dog

I like Carnival of Souls. A few clunkers but overall I don't mind it. I actually like side 2 more. Clean sweep for me over Vangina 2, or is it 3? I don't know.

VH3 sucked so bad I took it out of my CD player when done and flung it out the window at 75mph!
The look you gave with, "Josephina" priceless, and, "Ballot or the bullet" sounds like the, "I Dream Of Jeanie" theme.
COS is a genuinely great album with strong songs and great playing. Everything I've heard from VH3 is horrible.
Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone are for pickle whistlers. Carnival of Souls has 3.5 good songs ( I give 'I Will Be There' half a point). I never heard VHIII and don't care to. It's too bad because Carnival could have been a lot better, a few good songs cannot save an entire album.

I really tried to like VHIII back in the day. I was so excited when it came out thinking it would have at least 1% of the magic of Me Wise & Can't Get. But boy, it could not be farther than those 2 awesome songs. VHIII is just awkward, annoying and too damn long. And by the time you get to How Many Say I, and you think it can't get any worse, it does. This song and Brandon by The Crue are the 2 most embarrassing songs by 2 rock legends.

Gary Cherone is a good singer just wasn't a good fit for Van Halen , As for Kiss Carnival of souls is one of there worst albums don't want to hear Kiss doing Soundgarden or Foo Fighters if i want to hear that stuff im going to listen to Soundgarden. Both albums suck .
Another Rough stuff review ....these albums make me want to drink Jack Daniel's and challenge my grandma to an arm wrestling match 😤

As a Van Hagar hater, I’ll admit that there are some songs with Sammy I do like. I also want to add that I’m an Extreme fan and I dig Gary Cherone’s voice but Van Halen III to me is a new level of suck and boredom. Sound too much like Sammy. Thanks for the upload!

If you drink enough adult beverages ...both albums either sound good or get you upset .... It's a tie
