Yeah we were saying to eachother how weird it is to see all Japanese vans and cars the same shapes and sizes! I never knew it was a regulation thing, that's so interesting! We haven't seen a single van (like Martha style) here so I suppose i makes sense if it's a regulation thing, probably couldn't even get one imported! We contacted eleven different companies lol. Half of them never replied. Two had closed or changes business due to covid and others had reduced fleet and had no availability for as long as we wanted, and one only rented to residents. Tokyo RV Campers were super chilled out and easy to communicate with, we just needed our international driving licence. They were super lovely. You can DM me more info on IG if you want 🥰

Totally agree with you about stereotypes of Japan, think of the same things you said really - crazy electronics, talking toilets and bullet trains too spring to mind! It's a place I really want to visit for those crazy stereotypes but its also a big country so fascinated to see what you find.

We did offer them to bunk in if our paths crossed 🤣🤣 they are a bit wiser than us though, we are searching for those extreme temps up north haha.

Yeah all vlogs and stuff are about cities because that's where is easy to get to, so I'm excited to show the more unseen side of Japan! So far it's beautiful and the least stressful country to drive in! Road rage doesn't seem to be a thing here which is unusual lol.

I could not see Philly sleeping in that one. They said it was cramped, uncomfortable sleeping pad, etc. Your rental looks deluxe Castle.(home van). Great vlog 👍!!💜🦋💙

I just watched the video for a second time. Your right, Japan is an undiscovered gem of culture and nature. We think of all the tourist tropes and cities but your showing such a different side of the country. All in a Mini camper, same side of the road driving, not too big, diesel heater and the freedom to roam is just brilliant. I wouldn’t care about getting lost, your self sufficient, have fold out bed, coffee and blankets and will travel! Outdoor hot pools and monkeys strangely don’t seem that out of place over there, but I’ll just have to wait on the upcoming videos! 😂 I’m 5’ 4” tall, your perfectly formed van is giving me ideas……

I’m now chatting to him most days about his time in Japan and it’s fantastic! I’m now planning an Australia and far east tour that will definitely now include Japan.
Do you happen to know what year this camper van is? All I know is that it's an Alen camper that's built on a fourth generation Mazda Bongo cutaway chassis.
I'll ask the owner, i tried to find it in manuals, but best I could see is that on 2012 it had 34000km on the clock. So it's at least older than that lol. Any other stuff you would like to know. We can film a wee van tour this week 🥰🥰
Hi Guys, dunno much about Japan but the first things that spring to mind are Earthquakes, Tsunamis & Volcanoes (Mt. Fuji) & Nuclear Bombs. Then there's the good stuff like the food, the cities, (that giant pedestrian crossing Tokyo), Bullet Trains & of course the culture.
Yeah the natural (and unnatural) disasters here are absolutely heartbreaking. We've felt like three earthquakes during our time here, each time I'm scared incase it keeps going and gets worse. Seeing all the tsunami warning signs and escape plan maps is very unnerving because you realise how real and present the danger is here. Northern Ireland has no natural disasters, no deadly animals, no nuclear power, we have grew up very safely (apart from the parliamentary forces obviously) so it's unique to see how normal it is here when it's so terrifying as a reality.
@@phillyandkeely Yep, Ireland is such a safe place - more often than not - except for when we get weather like we have at the moment when we can't even get out of our driveway with the ice on our driveway. Mind you, this is way down south in County Kerry where this kinda stuff usually doesn't happen, it's supposed to be Baltic up north where you guys are from. Yeah KCampers are very compact!! I doubt we would have been able to edit videos and teach math lessons in one of them in the heart of winter 🤣 but if it's all we could get we would have made it work haha. Just very grateful we got the big one. Apparently it's a six person van 🤣🤣 Japanese are definitely alot more economic with their space.

Martha is still our girl. Self builds will always be superior in my mind if I'm honest. We spent three years tweaking and improving her to fit our needs. But I do love the big table! Really want to figure out a way to fit one in Martha when we get back lol.
Well very interesting . I'd of told that guy to put his tonka toy back up and bring out the real van . It does look like it'll work for you two . Let me tell you the water was pretty . What was the most beautiful moment in this video . There was a lady talking while pushing out her locks of curly, damp hair . It must of been freshly washed because the shine was as bright as her smile . She had on a scarf that had it poofed out and when you looked at the way it perfectly framed her face . It made you think Jesus made long gorgeous hair just for her .

Luckily Martha isn't the jealous type 🤣🤣 she knows we are going to be back to her in no time. He is the perfect way to ease ourselves back in to vanlife. He makes us appreciate how well designed Martha is. It will feel so good to get back to her. But not quite mentally ready for any issues she might bring our way haha

Interested as to why you chose this particular camper van company. We’ve looked at a few recently, for a potential trip in March. You two brighten my day, sending much love as always
We contacted eleven different companies lol. Half of them never replied. Two had closed or changes business due to covid and others had reduced fleet and had no availability for as long as we wanted, and one only rented to residents. Tokyo RV Campers were super chilled out and easy to communicate with, we just needed our international driving licence. They were super lovely. You can DM me more info on IG if you want 🥰

Yeah all vlogs and stuff are about cities because that's where is easy to get to, so I'm excited to show the more unseen side of Japan! So far it's beautiful and the least stressful country to drive in! Road rage doesn't seem to be a thing here which is unusual lol.

Hi of course :) It was Sawada Park Open Air Bath. All along Dogashima Coast was lovely! So glad you enjoyed the video. Our favourite Onsen so far was the most recent one we went to in this weeks video. Lamp Onsen in Aomori district, so lovely.
K/P Japanese Road trip baby (K: HaHaHa), while I am eating the last of my IKEA tin Ginger Snaps (Svenska Peppar Kaka) biscuits!! Another UK Vlogger rented Japanese Van (like a Soul vehicle size). I could not see Philly sleeping in that one. They said it was cramped, uncomfortable sleeping pad, etc. Your rental looks deluxe Castle.(home van). Great vlog 👍!!💜🦋💙

Have you folks had pocket wifi? It's often mentioned in Japan travel logs. Any ideas? Travel Beans are in Japan, doing the coastline.
Yeah we use the pocket WiFi. Expensive but was our only real option when being here for so long.
I just watched the video for a second time. Your right, Japan is an undiscovered gem of culture and nature. We think of all the tourist tropes and cities but your showing such a different side of the country. All in a Mini camper, same side of the road driving, not too big, diesel heater and the freedom to roam is just brilliant. I wouldn’t care about getting lost, your self sufficient, have fold out bed, coffee and blankets and will travel! Outdoor hot pools and monkeys strangely don’t seem that out of place over there, but I’ll just have to wait on the upcoming videos! 😂 I’m 5’ 4” tall, your perfectly formed van is giving me ideas……
Yeah the van is great for this trip, so excited to be able to explore the more unseen side of Japan. Hopefully inspire more people to get out here and explore it ❤️❤️

Do you happen to know what year this camper van is? All I know is that it's an Alen camper that's built on a fourth generation Mazda Bongo cutaway chassis.
I'll ask the owner, i tried to find it in manuals, but best I could see is that on 2012 it had 34000km on the clock. So it's at least older than that lol. Any other stuff you would like to know. We can film a wee van tour this week 🥰🥰
Hi Guys, dunno much about Japan but the first things that spring to mind are Earthquakes, Tsunamis & Volcanoes (Mt. Fuji) & Nuclear Bombs. Then there's the good stuff like the food, the cities, (that giant pedestrian crossing Tokyo), Bullet Trains & of course the culture.
Yeah the natural (and unnatural) disasters here are absolutely heartbreaking. We've felt like three earthquakes during our time here, each time I'm scared incase it keeps going and gets worse. Seeing all the tsunami warning signs and escape plan maps is very unnerving because you realise how real and present the danger is here. Northern Ireland has no natural disasters, no deadly animals, no nuclear power, we have grew up very safely (apart from the parliamentary forces obviously) so it's unique to see how normal it is here when it's so terrifying as a reality.
@@phillyandkeely Yep, Ireland is such a safe place - more often than not - except for when we get weather like we have at the moment when we can't even get out of our driveway with the ice on our driveway. Mind you, this is way down south in County Kerry where this kinda stuff usually doesn't happen, it's supposed to be Baltic up north where you guys are from. Safe trip, enjoying the videos, keep up the good work 👍🤗

Yeah KCampers are very compact!! I doubt we would have been able to edit videos and teach math lessons in one of them in the heart of winter 🤣 but if it's all we could get we would have made it work haha. Just very grateful we got the big one. Apparently it's a six person van 🤣🤣 Japanese are definitely alot more economic with their space.

Martha is still our girl. Self builds will always be superior in my mind if I'm honest. We spent three years tweaking and improving her to fit our needs. But I do love the big table! Really want to figure out a way to fit one in Martha when we get back lol.
Well very interesting . I'd of told that guy to put his tonka toy back up and bring out the real van . It does look like it'll work for you two . Let me tell you the water was pretty . What was the most beautiful moment in this video . There was a lady talking while pushing out her locks of curly, damp hair . It must of been freshly washed because the shine was as bright as her smile . She had on a scarf that had it poofed out and when you looked at the way it perfectly framed her face . Luckily Martha isn't the jealous type 🤣🤣 she knows we are going to be back to her in no time. He is the perfect way to ease ourselves back in to vanlife. He makes us appreciate how well designed Martha is. It will feel so good to get back to her. But not quite mentally ready for any issues she might bring our way haha
