Hey Jason. My dad is a vet. He started his service in 1968. What can I do to get him signed up for when this is all done? Would be an amazing surprise for him and the family. He is 72 now with a bunch if medical issues. Would love to get out with him while me and my brother can. Oh yea and we just live next door in Ohio.

I’m a second generation veteran, my son is our third generation and still on the job and we want to tell you how much we love your appreciation of vets and first responders. FANTASTIC!
Another great video, Jason. Hope the knee is getting better. As to the yacht, a couple of things: 1) If you go with a wrap up top, I would not put vinyl on any walking surface. You need the anti-slip to help from falling overboard; 2) The bottom paint is a special paint called anti-fowling paint. It's designed to wear away in layers to prevent marine growth (weeds, algae, barnacles, etc) from growing on the hull. Be sure to use this kind of paint; 3) Like others, I would love to see a tear down on the engines. See why one is locked up and do a rebuild. Many people love those kind of video. Wish you the best, not trying to be critical, just trying to help.
Make sure to when you do repaint the bottom that it's done using a freshwater use anti-fouling paint as they are formulated differently than those used in saltwater...

I just subscribed after watching the episode where you picked up this yacht. Then I watched you explain what this yacht is for. Thank you. Thank you so much for caring. I'm a disabled vet and a 20 year Police Officer. I have been fortunate to get to meet a lot of wonderful people like you all who care about us and understand the need to escape some times to give our minds a break. PTSD and depression suck. They suck even more for our families who support us. What you are doing truly helps, so once again from the bottom of my heart thank you.
I want to say Thank you for acknowledging first responders. I have the greatest respect for our men and woman in uniform. Sometimes people forget the first responders who have to see death, pain, and sadness sometimes daily for an entire 20+ year career and try so hard not to bring that home to their family in the morning. I think this idea of giving them a vacation is a remarkable idea. Thank you again!
You should make the bottom painted with "Coppercoat"! it's an epoxy-based paint with beads of copper in it (powdered).. it will make the maintenance on the bottom ALOT easier in the years to come! especially if it will sit for longer periods at a time.
Maybe not a good idea to use copper based bottom paint - it's very toxic and is banned in many lakes and places now. There are many next generation bottom paints that are less toxic - on our 36 ft yacht, a couple of years ago we had the old bottom paint stripped and replaced with a hard epoxy based Eco bottom paint and have a dive service clean the bottom quarterly - best thing we ever did.
In my garage is a GM 502 Gen 3 motor that was designed as a marine motor. Those 502's had better power figures and stronger bottom end than the 454's (which I also love, in a 70 Chevelle LS6). I got mine from a drag racer in unfinished state and finished building it. It has raced Super Street in Caprice, and Super Gas in a roadster. No problems. Love your projects.
I fell asleep in my recliner, woke up to a yacht restoration video 😂 But this dude seems cool, I literally woke to him talking about veterans and it made me think... when I came back from Iraq in 02 nobody really cared about us. Nobody cared in 03, or 04 either. Performative adoration of the military didn't really become a thing until 2010ish and even then it was just that, a performance. But this cat is investing actual experiences and his time to veterans so I enjoyed watching this. Best thing I got coming back was an upgrade to first class, mans is offering a first class vacation experience. Two thumbs up brother.

Advice from a lifelong boat guy. Paint your bottom black. It lasts the longest of all the colors. BTW, that bumpy stuff on the deck is a whole different paint. It's called nonskid.
Love the videos. You have inspired me a 17 year old to take time and fix stuff and learn it. Keep up the great work can’t wait to see the boat and 401 in action.
Channels llike this should have at LEAST 1 million views per video...and that's just from the Veterans and First Responders! This crew is doing a lot of good for a lot of good people. I am proud to have given what little I could to support this awesome group of very decent and kind Americans!
If you going to offer it to Veterans and First Responders, you should wrap it with Ghost Flags.... different shades of blues and Grey's! That would look phenomenal!
Jason, As I watched you on your hands and knees scrubbing around the engine hatch, I was thinking how much better you are getting around. I hope you were not in too much pain after a full day of kneeling ! Looking great !
I don’t know what it is about pressure washing a white boat that’s got that caked on mildew. Just so satisfying to strip that stuff row by row, lol. 😎😎😎
Listen Big Tip!! Buddy I was the one that talked about our 40' yacht in your last video comments we paid $4k for. I have done EVERYTHING you are doing on this boat. BIG secret here. On the white vinyl seats. The best thing to use on it is straight up bleach, not watered down. Don't even scrub it. Get spray bottles and spray on it, by the time you go all around the seat you will see a world of difference already from where you started. By the next day it will look incredible. Same with golf cart seats as well no matter how moldy may be. No scrubbing needed once you get the fungus y'all had growing on it out of the way. 😊 I had a retired marine tell me this on a boat we bought from him. Saves a lot of time. One of the best secrets for golf cart and boat seats I have ever seen. So keep that in mind.
I'd like to make a suggestion after watching the boat cleaning. I live in Florida and continually see the green/black mold on my pontoon, golf cart, and outdoor furniture. I tried just about everything to get rid of it with the least amount on elbow grease. I came across Marine 31, which is an incredible product that requires only that you spray it on the surface, wait 5 minutes, and wipe it off. It claims it doesn’t contain bleach but I've got clothing that suggests that it does. The people in our mfg home park now use it almost exclusively on just about anything vinyl, fiberglass, or other non-porous surfaces. It could also potentially be a sponsor. Check it out on Facebook and see a very informative video.
My father helped build Lake Raystown. He was a bulldozer operator who help prep the bottom etc. before it was filled up with water. That lake may be a little small for a boat that size. Go and spend some time on the lake before dropping that size of a ship in there. That boat is better for the Chesapeake Bay or the ocean. I have been to Raystown many times. I grew up in Martinsburg. My brother used to have an 18' jet boat with a 454 engine in it that he used on there.
I had a white gel coat boat at one time, I wet sanded it would 2-3 and 5k paper and then buffed it, it looked twice better than the factory finish. I went way over board with the sanding, probably could have just used the 2k grit. Gel coat will finish out super slick!
TOP DOWN FOR CLEANING! If you start at the top and work down, the foam and the soap and the acid will all work for you as it's dripping downwards making you use less material. Now Now that the bottom is all clean, all the crap and the acid use above is going to drip down the sides instead of having the algae and stuff there to protect it until you're ready to clean it Now that acid is eating deeper into whatever is left of your finish...
Loving the rebuild! Love the idea of pulling both engines and doing refreshes or rebuilds. Be careful with cams though, boat/rv cams are a very different grind than car cams. With a poor choice, those engines won't get on plane as torque would be set too high in rpm band! Keep up the good work!
I hope you see this - being a sailor, i've scrubbed and polished my fair share of boats, I HIGHLY recomend getting a bag of Oxalic Acid powder and mixing it with water, it's extremely strong stuff and dirt cheap! By far the best way to clean any gelcoat and get it back to bleach white.
1:15pm 4/12/23 please remember to tell your audience to always wash whether it’s their house or a dirty boat to never wash the top down. 14:48 always start from the bottom and work your way up. The detergents and or water will streak and leave permanent marks as the detergents run down the wall of the surface. love your show love watching every new episode and I’m even starting back to the first original episode of rebuild rescue. I wish you would do an episode what you were hoping and wishing for on the airplane versus if you were to buy a repossessed jet airplane, or if you ever would have taken on this project knowing everything you know now. It would be a great narrated episode. Thank you, Bob.
Jake will never say no, whatever you ask him to do! What a great guy to have in your team. I hope you can store the yacht indoor for the winter otherwise you end up cleaning it all over again next spring. It cleans up great !
The best part of cleaning a boat is that most everything is designed to get wet, so you can soak from top to bottom without worries. Meguiars has a great boat care kit with their Oxidation Remover, Polish and Wax which does an awesome job. The water just beads up and rolls off my 40 year old bass boat. Looking forward to the next video!
I was waiting for this episode. Happy subscriber and enjoy watching the progress on everything, including your rehab 😉 Keep it coming, content is always entertaining. Edit> Great job all of the guys helping, teamwork makes it all come together

You turned this abandoned yacht into a golden gem once again with just the clean lol great work Looking forward to seeing the final results of this makeover series👌🏼
When I saw that pool I was afraid for a moment that they didn't plan to repair the engines anymore and just "park" it at the docks. I'm so happy to hear that the engines are coming out, very excited to see how that will look! Also thrilled to see what NYC AMMO will do the "FREE abandoned YACHT", because they can do straight up magic.
Totally fine, I'm not a boat person so I personally don't really care. Jason called it the "FREE Abandoned Yacht" so for convenience sake I'll stick with that for now. I don't think the yacht will take offense 😋
Just placed my order for $144 worth of merch hoping to win this big ol beauty! Steve Morris you sir are a Legend Engine Builder and I like that you show us everything you don’t hide the carnage nor the triumphs! Everything will break but also in the same breath everything if done properly will win races and 5 time Winning machines/Drivers! Can’t wait to see the marvel that is The Wagon in person at Sick Week 2023 in Florida!
Looks amazing cleaned up! Make sure before you roll over to the hanger, get the bearings checked and lubed and check the tire pressure. 3 of them look low.
Jason, kudos to you and your entire crew for the work you all do towards a noble and much needed goal! As a three tour VN veteran who came back whole (I think, lol), I applaud your mission with this boat and the airplanes in the hangar. Every time I contact my VA for medical concerns, there is always an immediate reference to the 'Crisis Line' for those poor souls who are indeed in crisis. I would recommend that Rebuild Rescue contact these veteran and first responder Support Organizations to co-ordinate future events that will do the most good for those most in need of a 'Spirit Rebuild'. Best wishes and best of luck in your mission!
Great project. To get the old antifoul off the bottom you could scrape it or sand blast it, but these are messy. An alternative I did with my 35ft was to ice blast it off before applying a two pack epoxy. I know from the free abandoned airplane you're already familiar with handling dry ice! But if you do use ice - start with low pressure and slowly increase so as not to damage the gelcoat.
Hey Jason and crew, you guys do a fantastic job and the cause is absolutely selfless. I'm a British Military veteran just about to retire after 40 years in the Army. Relatively new to Rebuild Rescue but I'm hooked on the 401 and Trans Am builds. Love your work ethic dude and take care of that knee! Hope this helps! Neil
This channel kinda lost steam. Its obvious your trying to lure people in like you did with the plane. Title the videos differently instead of including free and abandoned in everything it'll make you look less desperate my g

Jake will never say no, whatever you ask him to do! What a great guy to have in your team. I hope you can store the yacht indoor for the winter otherwise you end up cleaning it all over again next spring. It cleans up great !
Would love to see this boat finished out!!!
He abandoned it. the engine repair alone will cost multiple double digit thousands. Its not worth it
@@bahriaproperties1143 bummer!! Appreciate the heads up! I have that same boat, just newer
its amazing with how just a little bit of love and you have already made a big change in the looks of that boat. cant wait to see more videos of it.
I like how it starts with working on your OWN abandoned stuff 🤣
The best part of cleaning a boat is that most everything is designed to get wet, so you can soak from top to bottom without worries.
Meguiars has a great boat care kit with their Oxidation Remover, Polish and Wax which does an awesome job. The water just beads up and rolls off my 40 year old bass boat.
Looking forward to the next video!
I was waiting for this episode.
Happy subscriber and enjoy watching the progress on everything, including your rehab 😉
Keep it coming, content is always entertaining.
Edit> Great job all of the guys helping, teamwork makes it all come together
Thank you for your kind words ! So glad to have you here on the channel with us !👍🏼
Yeah, you rock that yacht!
I check my UA-cam every day hoping to see a new video from you man! I love your content, I know you spend alot of time and effort to make these videos, I only wish you posted twice a week so I don't have to wait so long 🤣🤣
Michael thank you so much for your support on the channel ! Glad you're apart of the Rescue Crew !👍🏼
I feel you man, same here!
It's a cabin cruiser, not a yacht
Totally fine, I'm not a boat person so I personally don't really care. Jason called it the "FREE Abandoned Yacht" so for convenience sake I'll stick with that for now. I don't think the yacht will take offense 😋
@@Vermeulenisdenaam so you're a sheep, got it. A yacht is any vessel over 40 feet. Anything under that, are cabin cruisers
Goooood morning!
Amazing. As a disabled vet, i wish i lived closer so I could help. Unfortunately, I’m in Calif.
Still waiting next episode😜
Your purpose is EXTREMELY NOBLE and very much appreciated. I was shock at how dirt such a beautiful boat was allowed to get. She cleaned up very well.
Thank you Gary !
All projects are looking great :) Well done Guys.
Thank you Rob 👍🏼
Looks amazing cleaned up! Make sure before you roll over to the hanger, get the bearings checked and lubed and check the tire pressure. 3 of them look low.
great video for people like us
Jason, kudos to you and your entire crew for the work you all do towards a noble and much needed goal!
When's this series coming back.... I've just watched all episodes in a morning and now I've run out.....
Love what you bring to us ....
Thank you Abel !👍🏼
Hey Jason and crew, you guys do a fantastic job and the cause is absolutely selfless. I'm a British Military veteran just about to retire after 40 years in the Army. Next year my wife Julia and I are touring the US in our motorhome and if we could make it work I'd love to volunteer some time to help out on our tour. Love the sound of your Roystown camp ground also so if feasible would love to stop bye. Keep up the great work guys and I'll keep watching the channel. Gary.
Did you visit Jason?
@@Don_Johnson521 not there yet. We leave in March but Jason hasn't replied so I guess he isn't interested. I know he's probably super busy so it's OK. Cheers Joe.
Finnaly lets go
Waiting on this one
Watching from the UK . What a fantastic way to use this Yacht for vets and 1st responders...
What happened?
No more instalments for the Yacht rebuild?
W O A ! Nice...right niw the previous owner is going "Hmm, should have kept it!"
Guess the "yacht" mission has sank?
So awesome that Robby latton stopped by!
First here watching from lagos Nigeria 🇳🇬 i love what you're doing and your bond and friendship with mr sam after gifen you the 401 airplane..
watching from Vancouver Canada hello friend
@@intricateinc8566 hi
I have always had good results with ZEP purple degreaser that Home Depot sells, works great on bilges and engine compartments
So there will be no future boat video?
Yeah was wondering the same. Just watched all the boat videos but this is the last update?
Hey Jason!
My name is Neil and I Live in the UK.
The guy you mentioned in your video about the 2 LSX engines in his boat, his name is Chris and his channel is B is for Build, the guy is amazing as he is totally self taught and he has some amazing builds!
Relatively new to Rebuild Rescue but I'm hooked on the 401 and Trans Am builds.
Love your work ethic dude and take care of that knee!
Hope this helps!
Neil
First in 😂😂
11th YESSSSS lol😉

Hello It was fun again. So you see that old can also become new . Nice work Greetings from your loyal follower 😉from the Netherlands🇳🇱🇳🇱
This channel kinda lost steam. Its obvious your trying to lure people in like you did with the plane. Title the videos differently instead of including free and abandoned in everything it'll make you look less desperate my g
Wow! Who new it was that dirty! Awesome job team.
Keep up the fight it'll be so worth it for everyone involved and watching with interest.
Thank you I am a combat vet with bad ptsd and you videos help me.get through some rough times.. keep up the good work
It’s hard to find workers like Jake anymore! He’s a good one!!
