Great work both of you, I have the long reach battery Stihl & it is the best tool I have ever brought , makes short work of 50 meters of laurel hedging , Regards from Bordeaux
@Mf19593 Wow Bordeaux! Bonjour 👋 I have some Stihl Battery equipment too! Not the long reach just yet, thats on my wishlist! I do find it's great for smaller jobs and Hedge Trimming but big Hedge Reductions require petrol power imo
I really enjoy hedge reductions and renovations even though it’s hard work. It feels like you are breathing new life into it when the heart of the hedge sees the light of day for the firsst time in many years often. Seeing the response next spring is a real joy.
I was doing a job like this, not quite as big, and people crossed over the road so they could complain about the mess on the pavement while I'm trying to reduce it by about 2ft. It's like, if I can't complain about it being over the pavement, I'll complain about it on the pavement. I actually hate these jobs because of the way people behave.
Was doing exactly the same today for one of my clients. Took around 3ft of the top,and a foot of both sides.looked good wish i had another pair of hands lol.nice job lads.
@thomasmccullagh8282 thanks Thomas, hurry up and get yourself a worker! It's crazy how fast you can get the bigger jobs done with another pair of hands!
Absolutely brilliant Job you both did 👍🏻, lots of hard physical work, anyone doing this kind of work and getting complaints about mess totally ignore them and try putting volume up on your cutters/trimmers to drown out their moaning 😮
Nice job Bud, you need a Trailor for the waste , Reduce it down in the back with a chain saw. only one load. Id train your lad up as well, tidy-up together finish together easier day. Garry Solihull.
First time that hedge has had a proper cut in a number of years. It will look great once its filled in again. I remember when I helped some of our friends who had recently moved into a new house, they had the same problem, also with a Privet that was really overgrown and had no shape. After it was done, his wife wasn't happy for a couple of months as it was a bit bare, but after it grew back within the year and was now in the correct shape, it looked fantastic and they were really pleased with it. Unfortunately, there isn't a do it bit by bit approach, its all or nothing.
Top job ! That poor hedge cutter 😂😂 I always hire one for jobs like this so I won't trash mine 😎 Got an old small echo single thick blade with a scoop that's awesome for the tops.
@trev815 treat it mean keeps it keen.. I do sharpen blades and Lube the GBox.. that's the 3rd set I'm on. Not cheap either 👀 I add abit on each job to cover maintenance
Great job that. Just wondering (as I’m starting out) how much did you charge for this?? And how did you come to that decision?? Many thanks Keep up the good work 😊👌
Hi there you want to charge for your time, how long you think it will take, then charge some to rent your equipment to yourself, for maintenance costs new purchase etc. Do you need staff costs? Then add some ontop for a profit
Hi Richard it wouldent have killed it, however there wouldent have been anything there inline with the wall, if that makes sense. The bits that have been left, will regrow, the gaps behind should fill in, so overtime it will be able to be cut back in line with the Wall.
All the houses in my area originally had Privet Hedges & one by one they all got cut down & ripped out. They grow like wild fire & need an unbelievable amount of constant upkeep to look nice. The only good Privet Hedge is one that's been ripped out & mulched to oblivion never to be seen again.
😂 I see where your coming from! They certainly do take alot of Maintaining and it can be costly paying people to Maintain for them. Hopefully at this New Height, the customer should be able to Maintain it themselves a little easier
Nice professional straight and flat cut. They need to get you around every year to give it a tickle cut - was that a Sycamore sapling growing through in one spot - they're a right nuisance. 😀
@roadwithpurposegardening Hi, Yes it will Green up fairly quickly! Should look OK this Year, maybe a little Patchy. Over time with regular Trimming it will look great! The Tool I used was a Stihl KM 94 rc with Stihl Attachments, great bit of Kit! I've got the Bigger KM131R too
If it's a Privet you won't need to wait until next Season these things grow like wild fire, within a month or two you won't be able to walk along that pavement again.
Excellent suggestion Steven! I often use this tactic mulching the waste with the Mower. However on this one, i just wanted it bagged and taken away quickly!
@Karl-p6h Great question! it doesn't usually cause any issues I've cut others down to a stump, pulled them out by the roots and they've started to regrow and planted elsewhere
@margaretrowlands8162 Wow that would take a while! I like to do my own with Handshears, but mine is Much smaller! Those Headphones I'm wearing have Music in them 🎵🎧🕺
This was me until I moved a couple of years ago. Now I have no hedge to trim! I spend my retirement by working in my elderly neighbours gardens, lol - and watching gardening videos!
@pauljames9393 Thanks Paul! What to Charge is an Art in itself. The way I charge is an amount I need minimum for a days work, + abit towards hiring myself my own equipment, + a day's wage for my worker, + the cost of waste away. Ontop of that a Profit, an amount you can either save for yourself, or put aside to expand your Business.
@@HARRYFOSTER.
