- Is Bangkok still your best place to make a deal? We go out in search of one today, starting at an iconic wonton noodle shop with a daily que to be seated. Then it's off to a couple markets to see if Bangkok is still the place to come when you want to find something cheap.

I really like Khao Soi Gai noodles from the famous Michelin star restaurant "Khao Soi Lamduan" in food court of Icon Siam. It's really good and it's only 80 baht!
God for you for letting Lon choose the transportation. A Thai lady will never get cheated by a taxi driver.

I looked up the noodle shop you've mentioned in this video - "sabx2 wanton mee", the reviews are not so great only 3.5 stars.
May I suggest to you and the viewers Khao Soi Gai noodles from the famous Michelin star restaurant "Khao Soi Lamduan" in food court of Icon Siam. It's really good and it's only 80 baht!

i lived near Indra, Bayoke in early 90´s and bought a lot of clothes there to sell, "Talat bo bey" where u had to buy 6 or 12 pcs was even cheaper

Some big variations in prices, I notice it a little bit in Pattaya but the big markets in Bangkok seem to have bigger variations.

I lived there 30 years ago as well. What a difference. Food has been internationalized and you had people coming up to you all the time. There were real Tuk tuks and pretty ladies. Prices were great for suits and shirts. Nowadays, Bangkok is starting to get expensive but I still like it. Thanks for the video.

Really good video Lucas. I used to live in Bangkok and been to all the places you visited. I particularly remember the bar you ended up in soi 4 but it had a different name. It was very popular with Scottish football fans, maybe somebody can come up with the name. I drove to and around Bangkok maybe a year ago, swore I'd never do it again 😀 The relative peace of Jomtien suits me just fine now.

Yeah, we took 3 taxis and the most expensive one was 70 baht. I think the Tuk Tuks all say atleast 100 to go anywhere.
I brought the family over for breakfast there nextday and they really enjoyed it.. it was lovely catching up with you. My kids were excited whed they saw daddy on this epidode.. take care and thankyou for all the wonderful episodes

You can only go cheap to a certain point,I found that the prices in Bangkok away from the tourist area's are about the same as in Changmai an Chiengrai,Pattaya is some what higher and I have never been to Phuket,I left a ton of crap in Thailand when I left in 2010,probably for good.

I would have taken the tuk tuk for a buck more, but that’s just me. I prefer the BTS over a taxi as well, but none of my friends in Bangkok agree. (But they don’t pay) Always a fun adventure going to places decades ago, I enjoyed the video.

Hi my husband Ed is big fan of yours. He is watching your videos for last two years. And it started because he saw you walking on beach in Pattaya and losing so much weight. since then, he is waiting every day for your new videos. And now we decided to go to Thailand in February 2024. It will be cool if we can meet , he will be so surprised. But I don't know if this is something you are ok to do. If not I understand. We want to visit Bangkok for couple days and after that go to Pattaya. we have daughter 12 years old, and she is coming with us too. My Husband look at hotels and because he watches so many videos he said that he is going to book hotel in Pattaya. He is looking for at Jomtien palm beach resort. Looking at the pictures it looks good , but I want to ask you may be you can recommend something else for the family with young kid. to stay 5 -6 nights under $500. Thank you for everything you do! that is why we ae going to vacation now, to Thailand . Angela

tuk-tuks will be dearer as they are tourists traps same as the bars and food on walking street compared to soi pothole

I rode in a tuktuk once. Never again. They're deathtraps. I'd rather take a motorbike taxi down sukhumvit at 1am on a Saturday while getting chased down by a roving pack of rabid soi dogs being ridden by std laden kathoeys.
