Glad that it was a vacant building and that there were no injuries to anyone related to this incident. Thank you to all firefighters everywhere for protecting the citizens of your coverage area.
Prime example of why tower trucks are better than useless tillers. Could have had that fire out in half the time with 2 water cannons on a platform with no one climbing a wooden ladder with a hand line . Why so many firefighters standing around doing nothing . Poor example of leadership and fire fighting . Really Pathetic.
Ever try driving a tower truck down narrow streets for structure protection during a wildland fire in the WUI? How about trying to maneuver a tower truck to get out of an entrapment or burn over.
Have you ever driven a tower truck through narrow hillside roads…? Through narrow streets…? Are the firefighters in an offensive mode or defensive mode…so you know?
Negative - currently all the trucks are straight stick tillered rigs Back in the day (70s and 80s) LAFD had two 85’ snorkels with buckets and 4-5 50’ snorkels which was the 4th piece to the 5 heavy duty task forces that were strategically placed throughout the city. After a fatal accident involving one of the 85’ snorkels tipping over and killing two fireman I believe all the snorkels were taken out of service
Roof operations without being masked up. Forced entry operations on a building with a working fire and not masked up or wearing gloves. The lack of use of full PPE is unacceptable in today's fire service.
Everything they could do wrong, they did wrong. Water on flames and smoke. No water getting on the burning material inside. Standing on the edge of a roof with a hose with no fall protection. Walking around on the roof of a burning building to vent when the fire had already burned through the roof from the very beginning of the video. Why are most of them Off their SCBA? WHERE ARE THE OFFICERS? All they had to do is make entry, open the ceiling and fog the attic area. Quick, simple and effective.
Why do you continue to prove the old adage: those that can do, those that can't teach, those who can't do neither criticize those that can. You can not do, nor can you teach.
