    Wow Davy. I've been fishing for sixty one years and discovered you two years ago. I have learned to fish wet flies by watching you and Davy Woton from Wales. Your videos have taught me to tie the classic wet flies. I live in North East Tennessee, US on the Watauga River. HUGE brown trout! My best brown in sixty one years was a 35" out of the South Holston River, 20 years ago, near Bristol Tennessee/Virginia. I most likely will never catch another brown this big. I just got back from Scotland two months ago. My son just got married to a pretty English girl in Southern Scotland. I thought of you and wished I could go fishing. Glenn Campbell.

    Many thanks Davie! You're a brave man to fish three flies, every time I try it I seem to wind up in a tangle! 😅

    Hi Davey, I was wondering if you would have any Ideas on the tiny Agapetus Caddis Fly , here in the South West small rivers they are abundant and usually hatch a few hours before dark on warm summer evenings and attract a lot of attention even with the larger small steam trout Thanks

      Hi @humphlc4,
      I have tyed some flies to represent this small caddis and a gentleman called Stuart Croft came up with this small merger pattern so I have attached a link to it for you to see..

      I have a lots of caddis patterns on UA-cam that would work if tyed down to a size and colour to suit, I especially like the bubble caddis with some deer hair like the Grannom which I will attach a link as well for you to see..

      I hope this is of some help to you..

    What caused the foam you seemed discouraged to see on the river?

    Enjoyable again Davie. Do you ever try euronymphing tactics without using a flyline ?

      Hi Geoff,
      I have fished in this style a number of times but not for a long time. I'm just set in my ways but If I was into competition fishing then I would certainly be fishing it a lot more...I'm glad you enjoyed the video..

    Hi Davie, Great video. Can I ask do you use a separate microphone whilst you are recording the fishing videos outside or is this just direct from the go pro? Many thanks Billy

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Рік тому

      Hi Billy,
      I use the Media Mod which you put the gopro in, it has a built-in directional mic which delivers crystal-clear audio and reduces wind noise so that it doesn't sound like a hurricane..I set the mic to pick my voice up from the back of the mic so it works even better, it's the best thing I've ever bought and it works as you can hear in the video even when it's windy....I'm glad you enjoyed the video..

    Davie can I ask is there an outlet sells cadence rods or are they purchased on line just I like to see what iam buying

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Рік тому

      Hi William,
      I don't think there is as they sell direct to keep the cost down. I can understand that you prefer to try before buying as I do like to do this myself..I do know though they will be going along to shows to allow people to have a go and get a feel for the rods so if you can email them they may be able to help you..
      All the very best Davie

      Hi William,
      I just got this message which I have attached below from Cadence. If you can drop along to one of those shows or as I said give them an email or call and I'm sure they'll be able to help you..
      All the very best Davie
      We’re at the Gamefair in Warwickshire this weekend. I can get rods anywhere in the North East/North Yorks/ Borders. Should be easy to try one around Aberdeen/Speyside. And there are rods at Toft Newton in Lincolnshire. I have an Open Day at Chatton Trout Fishery on Saturday 5th August and also one near Durham.

    I apologize for being away. My wife of 9 amazing years, has decided that, and i quote, "you're a very good man, a good husband and a great father, but your love isnt good enough for me", and she took our daughter and moved to her mothers house.
    Amd I've been a bit mixed up as of late, and havent done much of anything. But its time to come back and enjoy what I've always enjoyed. You always bring a smile to my face and I appreciate that, now more than ever.
    Ive got some catching up to do, but ill be around.
    Peace.
