Whoop! First to comment. Excellent review Phil, I agree that it's the tyre to run in Sydney with heaps of sandy, rocky, rooty, runs. Keep up the awesome videos, they really promote the Sydney scene.
Yeeew! Thanks Andre'. Appreciate the support. The mtb scene is booming in Sydney atm and stoked to be part of it. 100% the go to Sydney front tyre. Need the predictability with such loose conditions!
Liked the input from other riders at the end there. I just picked up a new Kenda Hellkat & Negeval 2 combo for my Ransom. Trying it out tomorrow morning.
Thanks Arbee! I'll definitely be getting more input from other riders in reviews from now on. I'm interested to hear how the kenda's go. Was looking at them a while back.
Would these work on a pair of ex471 rims? Just got them built and hoping they aren’t too narrow. They would be going on a hardtail. Let me know , thanks!
Sorry for the late reply. Yes they will, some DH guys prefer 25mm internal width rims with wider tyres on the WC scene. Keep in mind the profile will be a bit rounder, however this is less of an issue on the assegai thanks to the transition knobs.
@@trailtalkmtb6603 okay good to know. I want to get an Assegai 2.5 DH casing as a Rear tire for PNW bike park (chairlift access). Cheers from Seattle. Thanks for the reply
If you like in wet loamy and clay trails, the Baron is still the best I've tried but in the Dry nothing comes close to the Assegai. The assegai still does well on wet sandy trails too
@@alexkeyes1706 I have only spend a very brief time on the dissector but from all reports there isnt much loss of braking traction compared to a DHF or DHR, so I would go that
@@trailtalkmtb6603 I ask because I currently have 2.5 dhf front and dhr 2.4 rear then I ordered dhr 2.6 and was thinking of putting it at the back and wait til my dhf is due for replacement and install either dhr,dhf or assegai 2.6 upfront. I was just concerned that I will end up having bigger tire on the rear if I stick the dhr at the back.
not sure why you would do that as the dhf has less traction than the assegai. typically you want more traction on the front and more rolling speed/durability/braking on the back
@@e-bikerides4618 the only way wild enduros are better is in very hard pack conditions, they feel more stable on sharp rocks, wear less than assegai and are cheaper.
@@e-bikerides4618 but I still prefer the gri of assegai, unfortunately they came scruffy here to brazil and you can't buy anymore until maxxis fix them
I felt you made a lot of assumptions in your camera transitions when switching between the DHF and Assegai while explaining them. You kept flipping back and forth and I dont have the tread memorized.

How are you liking the Ransom? I own a Spark but am considering a Ransom, the trails in my area are quite rocky.
Sweet man. Exactly the review which I was looking for!😁
Glad I could help :)
Used to have dhf. After i got this pair of asseggai, i'm not going back to dhf. The grippiest tire i used so far.
100% I feel the same way too!
@@trailtalkmtb6603 it adds up to your confidence in shredding those trails right? Knowing that you have this much grip on your wheels. Haha
Do you run asseggai front and back?, looking for a new pair of tyres
@@bluboi9904 yes i do.
That's some nice painting in the background!
I had some help ;)

Have you compared these to the wild enduros?

Trail Talk MTB perfect, good to know! Thanks for the reply🤘🏽
Should you guys be outside with so many deadly animals in Australia?
I/m with Magic Mary's Ultrasoft/Soft , and I/m happy.
Love the magic mary as well!
Great review, what are you running on the rear?
Currently I run a DHR but after a quick spin on the Dissector I think I will convert
Hi guys, I’m interested in buying an assegai for my bike but have 1 single question. Does the grip effect the climbing ability?
What about using it as a back tire?? Does it have more grip in the rear than a DHR II??
DHR in the back. Yes the Assegai has more grip in the rear but unless I was racing DH I wouldnt use it as a rear tyre. Too slow for my liking.
@@trailtalkmtb6603 okay good to know. I want to get an Assegai 2.5 DH casing as a Rear tire for PNW bike park (chairlift access). Cheers from Seattle. Thanks for the reply
I have DHF 2.5 for the front, but I'd prefer a **2.6** for the front, a DHF or Assegai EXO+. Cheers
hi how does it do in mud? or wet trails
I’ve been using an aggressor as a rear and an assegai front. Are you running the assegai front and rear?
Just front, I prefer a DHR in the rear :)
Great review
Thanks!
How does it compare to the Continental Baron that you tested?
If you like in wet loamy and clay trails, the Baron is still the best I've tried but in the Dry nothing comes close to the Assegai. The assegai still does well on wet sandy trails too
What would you run on the rear?
DHF or Dissector. I like the DHR too but it does roll a bit slower than the other two :)
What has better braking? DHF or Dissector?

Trail Talk MTB Ive only ran a DHR2 and Aggressor on the back, the braking traction on the DHR2 was amazing, didnt realize the DHF brakes good too

HOw would you consider running dhr2 front and dhf2 rear?
I actually prefer a DHR upfront, more predictable and the DHF rolls fast in the rear

@@spencerimre thanks for answering man. So I should swap them. my assegai is maxxterra and my DHF is maxxgrip. does that matter?
They are Heavy as *F...Not Playful, It has good grip, but if you looking for Playful and Less Weight, Go for Minion DHF...
I have heard tha Michelin ewild is the best tyre. Anyone tried it??
Haven't tried one yet but heard good things, should behave similarly.
assegai blows wild enduro away
