Cole dealing with losing his powers and the emptiness that came along with that, again the reintroduction of the seer and her importance to season 4 tends to get unnoticed, her getting Phoebe impregnated with her and the sources energy. What made Season 4 great to me was they made it a very real and natural progression in terms of how grief and acceptance of a new family member works. They paid proper respect to Prue and her memory and also didn't just make it so Paige's introduction and inclusion were rushed and smooth. All 3 of them struggled with the reconstitution of the Charmed Ones and their new roles in that with the dynamics and as sisters. Piper took a while to forge a relationship with Paige but once they did, you saw the strength of their bond where when Cole turned evil they were the ones with the closer relationship.
