Now this, THIS, is a high quality music compilation video. Song titles and related sources are visible during the entire songs, commentary even from the maker. It's not a cheap list of songs tacked after each other with a boring static screen that shows no information. More video's should take this level of effort.
Holy moly! A playlist full of obscure songs and lesser known arrangements, fun comments on each song, a tantarian OC, and opening with FFIX my favorite Final Fantasy and game of all time??? Did we just become best friends? I am as the cool moogles say, liking, commenting, and subscribing!
When I saw the title, I was expecting it'd be a playlist of little-known spin-off OSTs, so I was strapping in thinking, "Oh boy, time to see some Ring of Fates, or Explorers, or Theatrhythm-exclusive tracks and know everything in here note-by-note." It was not that, but in the end, I wasn't disappointed, because I did not know a lot of these arrangements. Definitely gave me nostalgia of downloading the Celtic Moon album off some shady website way back in the day, ahaha. The vocal tracks here were great! I'm really surprised they never used that version of 1000 Words in-game, at least in the credits or something. Cool finds! :]
Aye I have a similar music discovery experience from my youth. 😂 This version of 1000 words is so good but It think it got recorded after the initial release of X-2 as it’s only on the HD remaster OST. Not sure if they had it in time for the remaster though 🤷♂️
@@tealtantarian I've had this orchestral version of 1000 Words for YEARS, and I don't possess any of the remasters so you got me curious where/when the song originally released. According to Wikipedia, Koda Kumi released the orchestral version on one of her compilation albums back in 2007. I'm guessing maybe Square Enix got the rights to re-release it as part of the remaster or something?
This playlist has made my day! I'm listening to these lovely tracks and sipping coffee while my Siamese kitty watches squirrels through the window next to me. Wonderful selection of some of Final Fantasy's most beautiful pieces ❤
This really tickled me, because I'm VERY familiar with Pray and Love Will Grow, but I haven't encountered most of these other music collections (besides A New World). So, thank you for this beautiful selection!
Pray and Love Will Grow have stayed in my mind since I first listened to them over 15 years ago. Such beautiful arrangements, and the singers are perfect ❤
This video made me realize how much FFXIV is a musical love letter to the rest of the series. I haven't played a lot of the series yet, but I still recognize a lot of the tunes. Subscribed! I enjoyed this a lot
I came here to be a snob and be like "eh I already know all these" and by the THIRD track there's an arrangement I've never heard before. Thank you so much for doing this!!! So happy to hear that beautiful FF4 Main Theme arrangement for the first time, especially as a harpist 🥰🥰🥰
Really great compilation! I've been listening to Final Fantasy music pretty much every day for like 30 years now and there were a bunch of mixes here I hadn't heard before, and they were great! Thanks for sharing this
I love this so much, it feels so cozy and heartwarming. Growing up, I would go to Final Fantasy Online and listen to the soundtracks of the old games for hours. Never played the games, but I listened to their soundtracks over and over. The music warmed me in a way I can't really explain and this set brings back those feelings so intensely. Thank you for collecting these arrangements, they are wonderful!
I appreciate the personal touch to add trivia throughout. When I got to the Tavnazian Safehold it got me really good. I have a lot of great memories with FFXI
Thanks for this delicious, well-narrated, multi-course musical meal! Makes me want to try FFXI. If only I had time... Was nice to hear the Symphonic Suite Rebel Army theme. I have it, but haven't listened in a long time. The Grande Finale track too. I used to listen to Aria de Mezzo Carrattere from it when burned out studying. Ah, nostalgia... 8]
I find Grand Finale so odd, maybe even at times just plain not for me, but it's a really compelling listen. I think the mix of Italian/Baroque and Japanese arrangement styles just brings out this unique orchestral flavour I'm not used to and makes me want to hear more. 😂
Having now had the pleasure of completing my first (of many) listens, I *must* tell you: what an unadulterated joy it was to listen to this collection of music. You deserve immense credit and praise for curating this. Indeed, you are one of few people, in my eyes (or ears?), to earn the use of the word "curate": for sharing a number of otherwise now-hidden Final Fantasy musical arrangements and performances. I'd be eager to know your story on how you came across these albums. I clearly have much to learn when it comes to hunting for FF music! In the meantime, however, you have done a great service by gathering several rare albums in one place. Thank you, really, once again.
Balamb Garden is a favorite and I can hear Squalls footsteps and the SFX of the cursor as well while it plays. Now I need to go dig out my Celtic Moon CD
I have a real soft spot for the older, more experimental, and more obscure in video game music (hello NiGHTS piano book that I've been trying to get my hands on for years), so this compilation really hits for me. Thank you for such great work!
I listen to FF soundtracks very often to accompany me at work, familiar with the more obscure stuff like FF Pray and Love will grow but this compilation surprises me! Plenty of arrangements I've not heard of. Appreciate the commentary for every track. Really shows you've put a lot of heart in this. Thanks for this! :)
This playlist made me so happy! I've been listening to Final Fantasy music for years, but I haven't heard much beyond the original soundtracks and piano collections. It was such an experience getting to hear these fantastic renditions for the first time (like, the version of "Battle 2"??? Holy whoa was I mesmerized by that! I haven't had such a huge grin on my face listening to music in a while!). Plus, your commentary in the dialogue boxes was a great addition and a delight to read! Thank you for putting this together! It'll be playing on repeat for sure! :)
I'm not a FF fan and have only played FF XIV (just the free trial back in the day with an old friend who is a hardcore fan) and wow is this music beautiful. I'm definitely coming back to this playlist and I'm gonna have to listen to more FF music!
Like many of the other commenters here, I too listen to a lot of soundtracks and BGMs during the work day... but you take it to a whole new level with the way you make it into a radio music program! You're "DJ-ing" it with the brief yet insightful commentary, why you've included the track, a bit about the track and the game/story behind it... and the tracks all fit well together! Well done, loving it!
This is a fantastic compilation. I listen to so many different Final Fantasy playlists, I thought there wouldn't be much I hadn't heard already, but I had only heard four of these before. Final Fantasy VIII is my favourite Final Fantasy, with Eyes on Me being one of my favourite tracks, and I've never heard that version. It's incredible. Thanks for introducing me to it. And great job with all the notes to go along with the songs. It was a nice touch. Will definitely be playing this playlist often.
Been here since the 8k views, glad to see people recognize something great when they see it... or hear it, or both, today it's 24k, let's expect a few hundred thousands, but they should be a few millions in my opinion!
Please make more - your entire set-up aesthetic is very nostalgic and wholesome, and it's something I believe the UA-cam algorithms can eat up. 😊 P.S. early FF games (1-6) are my fav soundtracks, please continue to include more of them in these videos!
I thought your claim applying to even the diehard fan might've been too tall. But I stand corrected, I've already seen a few rearrangement albums that are new to me. Some excellent track choices, and don't think the triple-showing of XI's music didn't escape my notice. Great taste! And thank you for sharing this.
Hehe, I struggled to name the video because the music is well known but the tracks themselves are quite obscure. But happy to get all this stuff out there!
Dear Ro'sø - Teal Tantarian! Your selection is absolutely stunning. Final Fantasy is part of my childhood. Its music and melodies are so amazing that I want to recreate them by learning the piano, though I've just learned how to play it for a year. Thank you very much for your inspiration.
I'm actually working on a video that will cover the music of FFXI. It's both beloved by the FFXI fanbase but also under-listened to compared to other FF games (even when you control for playerbase/sales figures!) It's got a lot to offer so I think it deserves a deep dive from a big fan of the game. I played on the original NA release even though I'm based in the EU. 🫡
@tealtantarian Awesome! Yeah, it's wild how so many great songs went overlooked just because XI was an MMO. I played back when it was released on the PS2, and it was definitely an experience, lol
I really like that you added your own comment on each soundtrack, that is when i know that you really made this playlist purely because you love the music. Big respect from me, keep uploading buddy, i'll be here listening and waiting.
I’ve got some fun ideas for more playlists but this one is just full of tracks that have been living in my head for years - so I’m super glad people are enjoying it now!
This playlist is AMAZING i mean starting off with a place to call home? AND ALSO THE FORGOTTEN CITY IS IN HERE?? I am actually learning to play that rn!! It is SUCH a fun piece, i am IN LOVE!
Such a calling video title, so much coziness emanates from your scholarly vibes. Let us sit down in pillows and drink deep the knowledge of obscure things. Or tea, tea will do just fine
This playlist is phenomenal! many favourites in rare compositions.. particularly injoyed the Mahorabo selections. thank you for putting these together and sharing your passion of this wondrous music!
Thank you for such a lovely video. The songs and notes on each one is so sweet. Many of these are new albums I have never seen so have a whole new set of songs and arrangements to look out for.
Awesome video ! Hard to go by some of these things in the 90's and early 2000's in latinamerica so I hadn't heard before these arrangements. Subscribing from the first video, hope it improves even more your algorithm :)
Wonderful compilation! I was aware of..,half of these at most. It's nice to see FFXI music and Kumi Tanioka get some recognition. (I had a feeling I would see a couple FFXI tracks in an "obscure" FF music compilation!) Gustaberg is one of my most nostalgic / favorite FFXI tracks and the Star Onions version is just so dang good. My earnest suggestion to anyone seeking obscure FF music: Final Fantasy Record Keeper's OST has some of its own remixes and rearrangements of some of the biggest and best FF favorites (or even medleys of several tracks). A few blew my mind when I would hear them on the home screen or event screen of the game. Much better music than you'd expect from an older mobile game farmed out to a third party developer. Has a couple nice original tracks too. Even better: FFRK remixed some great FF music that *wasn't* some of the biggest and best. As a game built to be a nostalgia-fest, FFRK gave more even attention to most FF games in the series than I've seen elsewhere--or at the very least, the bias could be weighted quite differently from what you'd expect.
Wow! Amazing. One of the most entertaining and obscure final fantasy music compilations I've encountered. I was really happy to hear some pieces form Celtic Moon, one of my first purchases from Amazon in the year 2007 (isn't there an Enya connection there?). Also discovered some new ones here! Thank you for the entertaining text bubble, something modern young gamers will never know about, but that's how we played games back in the day! So much fun.
subbed! This is a channel i never knew I needed! I actually have some of these CDs in the garage! brings back the feels. Ill have to listen rewatch this again after work since i love these little known facts you've put in there!
I love this channel! I love all the different versions you list. It makes me want to seek out and collect all the albums and CDs for myself. This is my new Playlist to listen to while I work, draw, read or play FF14 and gather.
I just had a delightful little sunday afternoon with this going on my 2nd monitor while i was drawing, checking back and forth your notes and enjoying these interesting versions of familiar tunes thanks for the playlist o7
Thank you so much for making this playlist! I love your comments! They really made it feel like a shared experience; I felt very included in a lovely journey with you. (That said, I will admit it drew me away from my word doc - ended up alt-tabbing whenever there was a new track! Oh well - guess that's the beauty of a second listen - I'll be a bit less curious!) Anyway, I was expecting quirkiness, and so was blown away by the majesty of so many of these tracks. I reasoned the only way the covers could be so obscure is if they were cute and off-kilter - but no! The FFIII and FFIV vinyls are astounding. Celtic Moon was great. And thanks so much for introducing me to Tanioka! I have FFXI a proper listen (let alone play...)!
There are little gems all over the place and I’ve no idea why SE doesn’t market them more. When I find enough for another hour or so I’ll make a volume 2!
Hahahahaha, amazing. I have the FF3 Four Souls in vinyl, and I wish they would do some kind of reissue of Legend of the Eternal Wind from the 90s. Uematsu going HARD with some synths on that one.
That guy LOVES a synth. For FFXI he told the other composers not to use synth sounds because they needed a more natural soundscape. Then he goes and writes a big synth lead on the airship track. I think he programmed most of his own synth sounds until the 00s when SE brought in some synth engineers. Might have returned to doing it all himself when he became a contractor rather than a direct employee
These comments complaining that they've heard these songs are missing the point. Of course the songs themselves have been heard, they're all FF OSTs. Its these exact compilations/albums that have flown under the radar and haven't been heard enough.
I am absolutely blown away with this compilation. I listen to VGM all day every day for 12+ years now at work and most of this was brand new to me, thank you for introducing such lovely to add to songs to my library.
If you're willing to make another FF compilation in the future, you could consider "Theme Of Love Practice Track (Orchestrated)" from "Piano Collections: Final Fantasy IV", which is one of the renditions I like the most. BTW nice job sharing these versions and telling about their origins; Final Fantasy Arranged Albums are extremely underrated as the true gems they are. PD: There's an arranged orchestral album of FFVII Rebirth alteady, and a live concert album from the same game coming next week 💖 just letting you guys know
I have known most of them before. An amazing compilation, but i still prefer less orchestrated versions rather than orchestra ones. I assume they hold more atmosphere in them, this special JRPG kind of atmosphere, while orchestra remasters make it sound like a typical soundtrack for a fantasy movie. Talking about remasters, I can say that official ost from recent remasters of first games sounds amazing and hold that perfect ballance between orchestra and game music. Not gonna lie some of the arrangaments are amazing, though. For example, It was a sheer pleasure to hear The rebel army theme from FF II. Because I prefer first 6 games over new ones and really thing that OST form them is definatelly amazing and unfairly overlooked by the audience in favor of newer games. I was reading a book while listening to this and want to thank you again for a good time. And nevermind my little grubling. I am just inquiring to know if someone feels the same way as me? P.S. Subscribed for more music!
These playlists definitely show my biases huh? 😂 I really love the live and acoustic versions. I do agree that the newer OST releases are very listenable!
Begins with a place to call home? You stole my heart, you bastard!
This means the video is false, because you've heard the music
"you bastard!" 🤣🤣
Takes me right back to being ever so young. The goosebumps is the kid in me trying to get out.
Now this, THIS, is a high quality music compilation video. Song titles and related sources are visible during the entire songs, commentary even from the maker. Me a Final Fantasy fanatic whose played all games: "i'Ve HeArD aLl ThEsE". Amazing compilation!!
My mother used the FFIV: Celtic Moon soundtrack on her wedding day, the music from that album will stick with me forever.
For me I was like “oh! This is from that Final Fantasy: Potions CD I bought probably 15 years ago now!” And it still hits just as good 🎵
man i been listening to that for more than 20 years i think
Holy moly! A playlist full of obscure songs and lesser known arrangements, fun comments on each song, a tantarian OC, and opening with FFIX my favorite Final Fantasy and game of all time??? Did we just become best friends?

Also, thank you for your commentary. It is clear how much you love FF music and you are very knowledgeable 😊
You painted such a cosy and hyggelig scene with your cat chasing squirrels! Now I'm jealous 🙈
I also just came across this while having my morning coffee hanging with my kitty 😭😂💜
This really tickled me, because I'm VERY familiar with Pray and Love Will Grow, but I haven't encountered most of these other music collections (besides A New World). So, thank you for this beautiful selection!
Hehe, a bit of an opposite day for us then! I ended up securing a copy of both those albums since making this video. ✨

Aw thank you! I played a few months of FFXIV and it really is a blast through the history of FF if you're looking out for it all.
This is a lovely collection of music! I especially love the commentary from the Tantarian!

I'm a huge FF Fan and I've played every game square got to offer. I appreciate you spreading the less known song from the series!
Music choices: Excellent.
Video: Beautiful and informative.
Vibes: Spot on perfect!
I am really glad UA-cam recommended me to your channel. This is a gem.
I appreciate the personal touch to add trivia throughout. When I got to the Tavnazian Safehold it got me really good. I have a lot of great memories with FFXI
FFXI might be the best one and no one really played it! 🥲
I keep listening to these playlists, even though I did already know most of it, because it's impeccably ordered, and the commentary is delightful.
I grew up on this. Had the albums when they were new. Nostalgic bliss😊

ahhh, nostalgia.
Seeing FFIX get some much deserved love is great, Nobuo Uematsu's favorite OST among the series.
I can see why, he had a lot of fun with that soundtrack!

Some excellent track choices, and don't think the triple-showing of XI's music didn't escape my notice. Great taste! And thank you for sharing this.
second i clicked on this i said "into the darkness" from celtic moon HAS to be here, and i was very very not disappointed. well done.
While I was totally expecting mystic quest for some reason when u said obscure Ive listened to this enough times to be pleasantly surprised. Thank u!
Hehe, I struggled to name the video because the music is well known but the tracks themselves are quite obscure. But happy to get all this stuff out there!
Expecting something obscure, I just stumbled into the songs that were common in my childhood.
lol :D I must be old.
Loved every minute of this compilation. Thank you for bringing these obscure tracks and versions together in one place :)

Ahh this is cute! I like the commentary through out the comp! You've earned a sub!
A beautiful collection of songs, and it's always great to see XI get some love! Well done, and I can't wait for the next one!

Balamb Garden is another place I used to AFK for the music. Hope The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah is in here (or the next video)
So amazing picking up these hidden tunes, Thank you for spreading these to global!! LOVE from Japan
ありがとう. I hope SquareEnix feels the same way. 🙈
I really like that you added your own comment on each soundtrack, that is when i know that you really made this playlist purely because you love the music. Big respect from me, keep uploading buddy, i'll be here listening and waiting.

Liked, subscribed, saved to my playlist and deeply appreciated you.
Aw :3 thank you!
Far off Hometown was really impressive! I've never listened to this version before!
First-rate track list, highlight of my day

this is such a sweet video with lovely little commentary!! i really enjoyed it
Thank you for such a lovely video. The songs and notes on each one is so sweet. Many of these are new albums I have never seen so have a whole new set of songs and arrangements to look out for.
Your videos are amazing. I like the commentary from the creature and the music. Look forward to more videos like this.
I love FF. Got me by surprise when I heard forgotten city. Beautiful song I don’t think I ever heard

subbed! This is a channel i never knew I needed! I actually have some of these CDs in the garage! brings back the feels.
Ill have to listen rewatch this again after work since i love these little known facts you've put in there!
Love the chill vibe of the entire collection. Thanks!
I love this channel! I love all the different versions you list. It makes me want to seek out and collect all the albums and CDs for myself. This is my new Playlist to listen to while I work, draw, read or play FF14 and gather.
Also, I really appreciate the info added to each song. Helps me find what I need for later.
I love everything about this list! Thank you for sharing these songs. The commentary is awesome too! 😊
Mahoroba arrangement of FFV's home sweet home is one of my all times favourite 😍
Love. Just love.❤❤❤❤❤😊 Thanks a lot. It's like coming home.❤❤❤❤❤😊 Thanks a lot for sharing.😊❤
This is going to be my new go to list for homework time. Thanks for the video!
This was a really nice mix. Thank you so much for the content.
Dude, this playlist really raised my spirits!
Troian Beauty is one of my all-time favorites. And ohh I disagree with the "hits or misses" comment on Celtic Moon.. that whole thing is a gem
Aye, there were a few on there that weren’t for me but I agree the whole album is really great. Super interesting!
Very good playlist, I really enjoyed the different renditions of familiar pieces that I haven't heard before. Nice touch with the trivia too!
I just had a delightful little sunday afternoon with this going on my 2nd monitor while i was drawing, checking back and forth your notes and enjoying these interesting versions of familiar tunes
thanks for the playlist o7
Lovely arrangement of songs you got here! Familiar but lesser known arrangements are always welcome to me ❤
This is really good stuff, hope you continue making these.
Great music selection!! Definitely some arrangements I’ve never heard before! I especially loved that rendition of Battle 2 from FF3! Song’s a banger!
this is perfect! I am so happy to have found this!
Thank you so much for making this playlist!
I love your comments! They really made it feel like a shared experience; I felt very included in a lovely journey with you. (That said, I will admit it drew me away from my word doc - ended up alt-tabbing whenever there was a new track! Oh well - guess that's the beauty of a second listen - I'll be a bit less curious!)
Anyway, I was expecting quirkiness, and so was blown away by the majesty of so many of these tracks.
These are great! Thanks for sharing them. (And I've got to track down a copy of Song Book: mahoroba now!)
What an amazing playlist! Thank you for putting this together :)
Oh my gosh! Hidden trackception! How sneaky!!!!
Celtic Moon?
Ok you got me❤
Love that I know all of these! Top .1% Nobuo Listener every year
Hahahahaha, amazing.
You got my subscription, this is wonderful
Beautiful music .. thank you so very much for these masterpiece.. god bless your soul
Best best compilation of music. Thank you.
These comments complaining that they've heard these songs are missing the point. Of course the songs themselves have been heard, they're all FF OSTs. Its these exact compilations/albums that have flown under the radar and haven't been heard enough.
Amazing Lofi. I would love to hear a little bit of Final fantasy tactics, but anyway...its perfect
I am absolutely blown away with this compilation. I listen to VGM all day every day for 12+ years now at work and most of this was brand new to me, thank you for introducing such lovely to add to songs to my library.
Wow, thank you! I’m so happy to add to your little library.
FF III: Four Souls. What a good arrangement :)
Now that is a brilliant content and it definitely deserves more attention
🧐
Also finally somebody highlighted my favorite FF themes, thank you, my kind person.
PD: There's an arranged orchestral album of FFVII Rebirth alteady, and a live concert album from the same game coming next week 💖 just letting you guys know
I think you’ll have a few pleasant surprises in the next compilation. :3 I too love the acoustic arrangement albums!
amazing mix and lovely art
your taste is inmaculate, u use some of those after hard days.
but i didnt know many tnks
