Dependent on character creation, I sometimes read everything for every class, but not for this game. I'll go over companion classes as I recruit them.

I know you will introduce the companions when they show up, so no need to dilly-dally in character creation more than necessary 😉
@@kaguana I figured, but wanted to have the explanation out there for other folks who might come to the comments. There was a couple other things I meant to touch on, but there’s the rest of the game for that.

Paladin's a great choice. They make for some of the best main characters, since they make good party "faces".
I found your channel when you did playthrough of BG1-2 as cavalier which interested me so much because it was one of few choices for my playthroughs of entire series (at least entire then). In the end I did chose cavalier and it is my favourite class/kit ever since. Even now if I ever want to repeat bg1-2 it would be cavalier or nothing.
Devotion paladin was suppose to be also my choice for this game so I was glad but not surpirised that you chose it. In the end I decided to go with vengence. But nice to see we both play human paladins:P there are more recommended races for that but human pal has a flavour not many other choices do:P

Good idea picking Balanced over Tactician. I thought Balanced would be too forgiving but boy was I wrong. Been having a lot of fun getting my butt kicked. I'm very excited to watch you play through this awesome game now!
Most CRPGs do a good jobs of keeping the game challenging in the beginning on the “intended” difficulties. They sometimes get too easy towards the end, but I don’t suspect Larian will have any problem maintaining a challenge based on their other games I’ve played.

I checked episode one of a handful of your Let's Plays, you REALLY love playing Paladins lol
I could write a novel about why I love the class so much, but it’s mostly because I like the frontline, leadership archetype. I want to play the “face” of the party as the main character, while providing auras and inspiration to my allies. Usually it’s any Strength and Charisma type class, like the Cavalier in Pathfinder, but Paladins are often the best class that represents that type of character. Plus, I really like how they did away with Paladins getting their powers from deities in D&D 5e, and instead it’s their own willpower and conviction, because the gods are jerks.
Great explanation as to why you love the archetype. Reading the other comments you are known to be thorough and not just mash your way through all the dialogues. Which is a playstyle the Paladin excels in as well for sure. I will be sure to check out some more episodes! @@BringItDon

I alway appreciate that you play melee front line characters more often. Have played this game but on pen and paper I’m a Barbarian/ Cleric main
It’s feels right for the leader of the party to be on the frontline, actually protecting and leading his companions. Though I have a hard time deciding between tank and damage dealer, until I see a two-handed hammer option.

Thanks for going through and explaining a lot of the character creation stuff cause I’ve never played D&D and I’m interested in this game!
This game is good for introducing you to D&D and CRPGs. They change a few things to make it more digestible for new players. There’s more of a focus on fun, instead of rules.
@@BringItDon the issue is, I don’t have a computer good enough to run this game! I guess I’ll just have to get one at some point…
@@shadowoflugia I had to upgrade specifically for this game. CRPGs are usually a safe genre for PCs, since they don’t often require high specs. My 1080ti lasted me from 2017 until this game’s release.

@@BringItDon are the races in this game the same, with similar traits, as when you’re creating a character for a D&D campaign?
@@shadowoflugia They’ve been changed for this game. For instance, they did away with different races getting different attribute score bonuses, and humans get extra carry capacity instead. Each race does get something unique to them though, like the aforementioned human feature.

Ooh fun! And totally blind is great! 😊 I couldn't resist playing the early access . . . although they didn't really spoil any of the main story and they changed up quite a few things with the release.
Luckily, I had a bunch of other games I was slowly making my way through, so I didn’t have time for early access either way. I might go back and look at some stuff once I’m far enough into the game, so I can see how the game’s changed.

I'm incredible late to the party, life happened, but I'm really excited to watch you play this game. So far I'm also going in blind so will be learning with you (though I know the rules of 5e ttrpg but I heard there're some differences). I assume Paladin with warhammer? Paladin is a very very strong class in 5e arguably the best martial class

I know this is somewhat old, still going to post. First of all, I'm a huge of the BG franchise, BG1 and BG2 in particular are among my all time fav games. One of the reasons for that I ov isometric 3D. Because of that I like Wasteland 2 better then Wasteland 3 and could never get into the Divinity games. For that reason I'm sad to see BG3 uses the same engine and starts with creating two linked characters. Having said that, the opening scene is beyond creepy, and the cinematic fight in part 2 looks epic. I think I'm going to stay awhile ( not to listen though)
Also I'm somewhat of a purist and only play 2nd edition :P
Literally the only BG3 video I have watched and will only have watched until Sept. 6th when it comes out on PS5 😅

I understand, that’s why I avoided early access. I hate spoiling myself before I can enjoy the whole thing for the first time. That way I don’t make meta decisions, can roleplay better, and have a real adventure.

in this game, going for 17 13 starting stats is not good, 16 14 is much better, since you get 2 ability points per ability raise
I took that into account when selecting them. I prefer going for feats, which often give a +1, allowing me to round out my attributes. Plus, starting stats are temporary, since there’s means in 5e to boost them to twenty or above.
@@BringItDon I see your point, but feats come at level 4+ or possibly at 7 if multiclassing, not worth losing +1 dex or con bonus for 4-7 levels when you can easily just respec at lvl 4 when you get the feats
@@Songfugel True, but I try not to respec, if it can be helped. It feels to meta game-y. I’ll do so if a feat is bugged, or something like that. I like to play with my character’s flaws, until they can be fixed through natural progression.

Im a crpg fan but my PC can't handle bg3. I already watched a caster gith playthrough, now its time for human martial
I upgraded my PC specifically for this game. I consider Paladins gish characters, not just martial, since they have spells.
