A major issue with Code Geass is that too many things that should’ve been more explained in the main series are instead explained (sometimes badly) in the 10000000 extra content and spin-offs that are often not even translated or promoted enough for general fans to know the existence of. RWBY also has this problem (although its problem is worse than the problem with Code Geass since RWBY is a terribly written show).
Holy fuck, how did I miss this? Fantastic video. Lived up to the quality of the critique of the first season and did a damn good job of showcasing just how garbage this show truly is. And no, I don't like this video because you're confirming my biases, but because your points were well thought out, structured, and made sense. Hopefully you'll do more videos like this in the future, as these two videos have been great. Subbed!

You're wrong about the Chinese plot. Britannia already had its hands tied fighting the European Union, and both it and China are superpowers rivaling Britannia in military might so they can't just declare war on them and attack their embassy. Further, the United Nations Organization or anything like that doesn't exist in this universe, as there are literally less than 10 independent countries in Code Geass's world at the beginning of R1: Holy Britannian Empire, Chinese Federation, European Union, Middle Eastern Federation, Saudi Arabia, Zilkistan and Australia. Lelouch later created the UFN, but it's a military alliance rather than what our UN is.
I feel like that’s what Akito the Exiled is for, I mean it makes sense and it shows a good glimpse of the EU war

From what I understand cc knows she is hypocrite and that's why she hates herself that's why she asked lelouch in r2 episode 23 if she destroyed his life by giving him geass.
Lelouch does know he is a hypocrite that's why he made the plan of the zero requiem so he can pay for his sins.
I am not actually defending the series I am just explaining why the ending of code geass worked and why I don't hate cc as a character.

Now that I kind of reevaluate my whole perspective about Code Geass as a whole, my opinions on it change. Not only is season 2 problematic writing wise but the ending (Zero Requiem) is also contrive with problems in the story's narrative.
I think a better ending base off the setting in season 2 would have been Lelouch becoming full on emperor of the entire world and losing all his friends, family and followers in the process. The hero of the rebellion becomes the villianius dictator of the world for the common good. It would have been the perfect Shakespearian ending.
Sorry for the necromancy, but having just started this one video and gotten to the 10 minute mark, I do have to ask: did you even watch the show? Because it seems like you didn't.

I dont think that code geass is a steaming pile of garbage like the guy in this vid does, but it definitely has way too many plot and storytelling issues for me to even consider putting it in my top 50, let alone top 10. I don't think it's bad and if you think it's a top 10 that's fine
@@soundofpeace6539 Name some flaws or "plot holes" you mentioned and I 99% guarantee I could explain them or debunk them all lol. Geass is far from the #1 best anime of all time, but it sure as hell is a definite contender in top 10-20.
@@habibisuckslol I never said anything about plot holes. I think the show has a lot of glaring plot conveniences and inconsistencies.
I think that Lelouch isn't nearly as smart as the show makes him out to be. Many of his plans rely on the incompetence/stupidity of the Britannia forces, or on him being basically omniscient. Take for example the plan he had used to thwart Schneizel where he basically predicted everything that schneizel said in a fairly intellectual conversation and recorded his responses to give him just enough time to sneak on to a plane. This is a stupid plan that shouldn't work because regular humans aren't fuckin omniscient, but it did because the plot constantly bends over backwards for Lelouch. This isn't even the first time he used this dumb plan.
Zero requiem is a shit plan that wouldn't be realistically effective as it would more than likely result in an implosion of political structure and a political vacuum(ending in major chaos) throughout the world. Not to mention that this plan doesn't factor in the current political structures. Britannia wouldn't drop their colonizer imperialist tendencies on a dime just because Lelouch died. Lelouch didn't actually put work into dismantling the systems of oppression and inequality that Britannia has cultivated and Britannians won't stop being racist because "everyone focused all their hatred on him" blah blah. He just wanted to make himself a fucking martyr and die. That was his big fat plan.
This show is also really afraid of killing characters and sometimes the story suffers for it.
Suzaku somehow not only being alive, but completely unharmed and devoid of any scars or burns in the last episode of R2 even though his knight mare literally exploded with him still in it and wasn't even shown exiting the knightmare at any point during the scene, after his final fight with Kallen is bad writing. The fact that he was able to win a fight against someone who can literally see the future , through sheer willpower and no ACTUAL strategy in sight, all because Lelouch's geass commands him to live is just dumb.
Nunally and Gilford being caught in the blast of what is essentially a nuke and somehow making it out alive and unharmed is bad writing.
Back in R1, Villeta straight up got shot at night and was left for dead till morning and survived with only a few scratches and random amnesia even though she clearly didn't suffer any head trauma. I don't even know where she got shot because in the scene when she wakes up in Ougi's bed she has a tiny plaster somewhere on her torso and random bandages on her wrists. Viletta not only surviving but also getting amnesia so she conveniently forgets the identity of the leader of the most wanted terrorist organisation in Britannia is so contrived, and very convenient for lelouch.
Let's not forget about the Euphie scene, which is probably one of the worst written scenes i have seen in anime. This scene isn't just convenient, it's a clusterfuck of conveniences that relies on so many things to happen exactly at the same time for it to work. Yes it was foreshadowed that Lelouch's geass would evolve with mao, and even lelouch some time prior, but that doesn't change how convenient the scene is.
Just as the entire main conflict had been resolved and zero and the black knights were no longer relevant to the story, Lelouch's geass spazzes out on that specific day, and at the specific time that he happened to be talking to Euphie, and he just so happened to be looking into her eyes thus fulfilling the condition of the geass which is maintaining eye contact, and he just so happened to say a command for genocide and it all had to happen during this climactic event in the story. All of those things HAPPENED AT THE SAME FUCKIN TIME!!! ON ACCIDENT!!! The only way these things can happen at the same time exactly when the story needed it to without it looking dumb as fuck is if Lelouch did this on purpose, which he didn't.
I didn't even talk about the ragnarok connection, or how badly paced R2 is, or how most of what happens in that whole arc that took place in China has no actual relevance to the overarching plot and is basically as good as filler, or how pretty much none of the characters besides Lelouch and Suzaku have an actual resolution to their character arcs, or that there's pretty much no character development from a solid 90% of the cast in the entirety of R2, or Nina fucking a table.
There are several other problems from each season I have yet to name, but it's okay man. You enjoy Code geass. As long as you got something out of the show, that's excellent and I'm happy for you. Just don't try to convince me that Code geass is a masterpiece or even top 10 material because I don't think you can win me over
