My great grandfather used to have a special secret formula for fertilizer and gaurded it heavily when it came to pecan trees...I wish I knew what he did fully because his trees that he planted have hit their 300 year old mark and now are slowly dieing due to the bacteria Black Rot...we used to literally sell our small 5 gallon buckets full to people who lived serveral states over from us....our ground is great for them I've never found another pecan that tastes the same..and would love to plant pecans and other trees...but haven't had the time nor the funds. We even have a few soft shells.

Hi! I just identified some leaves from plants that appeared out of nowhere in my front yard - four of them and they are growing very quickly - identified on a plant identifier app as pecan trees. Is this possible? I am in Northern California. The leaf, with its pointed tip and serrated edges, looks exactly like the leaf of the pecan tree in photos. I have no idea why these trees would be going growing here except that I did feed pecans to wild turkeys for a while a few years back. Any ideas? Thanks
