Comes out nervous, announces the song before the curtain opens, then they just fucking explode for two minutes straight. One of the best filmed performances I've seen in a minute.
+hazeman671 the band Thee oh Sees aren't as mainstream as the black keys . But the guy is 46 and putting on energetic shows . Also look at iggy pop . Not the greatest shit out there but come on he brings it still .
Oh shit. I had to watch it again. That audience had no idea what they were about to receive. One of my faves and the energy in both of them is great. Greatness in the making.
Hell yeah! I only recently discovered the first few albums of the Black Keys. It's a game changer lol. Everything going backwards from Magic Potion is dope AF.
***** yeah but now they're tame and boring and talk in interviews about how they can't "act like a rockstar" because their fucking grandma would scold them. you wouldn't see dan playing guitar on the ground like that these days this is why rap music is so prevalent these days, and why all the young talented artists flock to become a rapper instead of a rockstar. modern-day rockstars are fucking pussies with no edge. rock music is now associated with old people and lame people.
John Kramer yeah i was happy the first song of the turn blue album had a lengthy riff in it. I could just imagine dan letting loose stop giving a damn and playing his heart out like the good ol days. that bein said i think their sound has developed well. just get all their albums and put it on shuffle. its great
Dude the black keys are the shit! I saw them in 2011 on New Years and it was bad ass! They were still doing the 2 piece thing and it was absolutely fucking incredible
ha ha..i posted a comment 2 yrs ago and no one else has since.....pretty sad tho ..this is still the best song ever....shame the whole wide world hasn;t heard this....makes me happy as shit
You know those legendary footages we have from the 70's? Like the Dazed and Confused first performance of Led Zeppelin? In like 40 years this will be just the same...2 guys and giant sound...
some of the dirtiest melt your face off rock riffs I have ever heard! badass! Pat and Dan are so potent that I think they just impregnated the first few rows with this song!
Change isn't bad it's just different. I admit I prefer the lo-fi blues sound to their current stuff, but that's just a preference. They are talented musicians and real artists experiment and evolve.
Hell yeah, Thickfreakness is in my cd player right now... I LOVE all their old albums. But, I love their new shit too. Just because a lot of people are finally discovering them doesn't mean they've gone mainstream. Bands get tired of creating the same music year after year, gotta try new stuff.
Lyrics:
Ehhh ahhh ehhh ahhh ehh
Ehh ahh ihhh ahh

Looolll
This is the best comment I've seen in a long time.
And its still better than lyrics in songs today
This, ladies and gentlemen, is a perfectly illustrated guide on how to use a fuzz pedal.

This was great no doubt, if you want to see energy like that check out Black Pistol Fire. Live on a radio broadcast. Oh Well/Where you were before.
first line of the song- "well I hey ha her, well I he ha hya my DARLING"
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Lool
Jack O Lmao
Wish I could like a comment twice
It's called blues 😂
I wish they still had this energy
amen
it's what happens when you perform the songs everyday for 5-6 months :/
Sigh
They're not exactly in their 20's anymore, both are pushing 40 now
+hazeman671 the band Thee oh Sees aren't as mainstream as the black keys . But the guy is 46 and putting on energetic shows . Also look at iggy pop . Not the greatest shit out there but come on he brings it still .
Anyone who has a problem with this song can go rot. This is the Black Keys in their prime. Listen to that guitar!
Luis Ortega
It's easy to find that sort of passion these days though. Look at some rappers and how they perform.
@@Savaril half a decade later I came to say fuck you.
@@smartacus88 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA LMAAOOOO
Jamie Trower he still has that fire man.
bbm morgan get out
Dan out here lookin like Shaggy
Man that guitar sounds absolutely filthy I love it
Music on MTV?! Wait..what?.....oh 2003. That's about right.

Toujours aussi géniale 20 ans plus tard. Grand Bravo à ces 2 types BLACK KEYS

Oh shit. I had to watch it again. That audience had no idea what they were about to receive. One of my faves and the energy in both of them is great. Greatness in the making.
NO DOUBT! They got blasted i the face with excellence.
Best band of the 21st century without doubt.
The sound of that big muff and the tele on the neck pickup make my skin crawl with enjoyment
Damn those perfect Auerbach teeth.
Its freakin hard not to look at em right? sheesh
True, but these guys were pretty broke at this time.
Dude can seriously rock that Tele!
Yes it is perfect fuzz with control..
Never heard the old sound of the Black Keys when they were a duo. I like it.
***** They're still a duo.
Micah Amyx With a keyboardist and bassist.
***** Only live, because it would be totally impossible for them to play it. They make the music themselves though, so they're still a duo.
I don't know, Brothers is my favorite, and I like the sound with the bassist and keyboardist, especially on Tighten Up, that song is awesome!
This song is just, perfect. Don't really think I can describe it any better.
I still don't know what he saying but its still an awesome song!!!!!
THE BEST FREAKIN BLACK KEYS SONG
Guess you guys aren't ready for that yet…but your kids are gonna love it
Anybody listening in 2018?!?

This makes me miss the old Black Keys a lot.
I remember watching/hearing this for the time. God damn!
My favorite video on youtube hands down

Rocked! This song was so sick. Saw them play this like 6 years ago in Cleveland and it blew my mind.

Howdy Steve ,how you doing ,me? i'm feelin pretty good, pretty good.going out later ,so i am going rock it for awhile and thanks
Some real heavy sounds luv it.
This is back when the Black Keys were, you know, actually GOOD.
How could anyone not be blown away by this.
2022🤘
so awesome
Kinda mindblowing that they were like 22 / 23 at the time
Explosive start to a song, just fantastic.
god bless the big muff Pi pedal! tis the heavenly sounds O' the angles themselves!
Oh, my wasted prime. I lament thee.
this is by far the best performance i have seen of this song.
buttrock obama was you able to learn this.
hair back of my neck stands up to the tune of that weeping guitar...talent man....talent
good night
At first I regretted buying a tele. Not any more.
Joe Smith I was raised on a strat, and the tiny differences in the neck were getting to me, but I'm fine now. Kinda wish I had a Jazzmaster though
Joe Smith YESSS
Christian Lee I just bought a tele as well, but I'm in love, i've been playing an 80's les paul and the tele is a nice change of pace.
ryan bresnahan I bet it's nicer on your back too. Old Les Pauls weigh a ton aha

THE COMMENTS ON THESE VIDEOS ARE LEGENDARY
I am here because of Misfits season 2 episode 3. What a great sound on the guitar! First time listening to this great band!
this video is the first black keys tv appearance.
amazing. that tone makes me get cold sweats.
Everything about this just makes me happy.
All artists and bands change and grow. That's how it is for all of them if they are true artists.
this video older than me by 6 years but omfg it slaps
Bloody explosive
Man they can put on a rock show!
these guys are freaking amazing
Just saw them live 2 days ago, just as much gas in the tank 20 years later.
This made me so happy I watched it 3X in a row
The best music.
some of the dirtiest melt your face off rock riffs I have ever heard! badass! Pat and Dan are so potent that I think they just impregnated the first few rows with this song!
I had to watch this 2 times in a row just for the solo.
dan has the best energy ever.
Love this song...
Sweet lord of mercy, this F'in Roooooockkkkssss!!!
Oh man!! Trying various things to wake up for 60 min now. Yellow starts to sing and I'mm baaack!
This song goes so hard.

so good i want to cry
Fuck wheres the second half!? that was SO legit
+mikecantreed this is the best performance i can find of the song. so frustrating that they don't do the second half.
So guttered they didn't come to New Zealand this year, definitely want to see them live soon!
Love Auerbach's in your Face Raw Bluesy sound, Hear that Robert Johnson twitch
Could this happen in 2021? What a special time for guitar based music
they would be just as famous with this old school raw sound.. some things should never evolve :)
***** Obviously not.
***** Or they should and people who don't like can stay in the Caveman Days
That Guy Well that was their point wasnt it? to make old "caveman" music... thats why they did so well.
That was the point but they've evolved and its anyones choice whether to evolve with them or not
I'm glad they changed. I love their old stuff but it pales in comparison to Brothers and El Camino and Turn Blue.
NO FUCKING ENDING TO THE MOST EXPLOSIVE PERFORMANCE THEY HAD OF THICKFREAKNESS?? major blue balls
dear modern music, take notes.
So much power
Hell yeah, Thickfreakness is in my cd player right now... I LOVE all their old albums. But, I love their new shit too. Just because a lot of people are finally discovering them doesn't mean they've gone mainstream. Bands get tired of creating the same music year after year, gotta try new stuff.
Freakin otherworldly.
when i give birth to my first child, and hear him cry, this is what i will hear. idk if that makes since but this video is beyond bad ass.
Man, these guys were really good back then
I would say they sound identical.
