Guy holding coffee over the 808. No.
Mathew is my hero!, his explanation/tutorial about SH101 is my fav!
This is why Mathew Jonson is one of the few "live hardware" guys who gets paid well and travels the world for it. It's no longer about putting out a record or 2 and just jamming with a 909 and 303 and some effects at every event. If you perform live with analog and digital hardware involved - you HAVE to make sure that your levels and clarity match those of the software-based live show guys. The discipline to level match, normalize, read meters, etc is the price to pay if you want to play live at big events.
+RhythmDroid tell that to Karenn
+sheatheman I hope you mean that as a compliment because they are absolutely brilliant live.
Analog wizard Mathew Jonson gives a rare, 10-minute rundown of his insane live-set up.
#mathewjonson #studioscience #rbmatokyo
insane?
Cool
thatz nice
Great producer, nice guy.
It's nice to hear someone actually talk about levels, it's such an important part of a show
My teaching instructor always used to say don't tell, demonstrate.
Is that Mumdance behind the mixing desk?
I know all these cool kids could give a fuck less but I really appreciate this video, thank you RMA and Mathew very informative and helped me wrap my head around a new live setup
the rocket-scientists who made this vid filmed a guy pointing at a computer and "explaining" shit no one could actually see. way to take advantage of the visual medium, yo.
Very cool. Thanks for the video!
Why was this cut so short? You can tell he talked for hours...
How is the mixer connected to the laptop!
@8:49 - COMPUTER IS YOUR MASTER CLOCK?!?!? how on earth do you manage to do that?? I get such a terrible jitter-lag-whatever type of mess that the midi clock can get....
just smile and nod
Is that James Kelly from Altar of Plagues/WIFE?????? 1:06
+Álvaro Rodríguez Ortiz yeah!
overload
Mathew Johnson my boi
After watching this I'm glad I removed computers from my rig and went back to hardware sequencing.
I'm glad for you too, this thing is bad for mental health, pulling mouse around begging it to do stuff
All those that laugh when he swipes the hats obviously has no clue. He just goes on. Nice moment.
How does he actually hook up the machinedrum with the sh101?
And how does he put the machine to the mixer? To get the kick, snare, hats in different channel? Thanks
***** the machine drum has a pulse sound that acts like a gate signal that will sync the sequencer on the 101,
Matthew Cavender Can i sync a prophet 08 to it?
+PAMPA JON the elektron drum machine has different outputs for every sound so you can get each of those sounds ( kick , hats, etc) in one separate channel on the desk ..
what's that first drum machine he uses?
Carl Craig standing in the doorway :)
somebody knows what mixing console is he using?
Midas Venice
Mumdance in the place
gotta hae some breaks on hand
so your computer plays live.
I guarantee everything he says is going over almost every kid here's head. All they see is DOPE GEAR. You can tell by the lost look on their faces, most of them haven't got a clue.
But you have of course. Yeah!!!
2:25 have no idea what he is talking aboot.
1o minute rundown, 2 seconds of music
+Daniel Lee What did you expect?
if i see this crowd...i am really concerned. is this the future of electronic music? i dont hope so
I doubt most those people know what he's talking about. It's producer shit.
He doesn't even know what he's talking about.
zzzzzzzzz
Got to ''Ableton'', moved on to another video.
kringy
bunch of bored art school hipsters lol
Wow these are some messed up looking people.
Andrew Ramsey ironic how you look just like some of them
This is so technical and terribly boring. So hard for me to watch.
how so? i'm not even a producer and i found it interesting and pretty easy to comprehend.
