I’m a nurse mom also and absolutely 100% I listen watch your videos to calm my soul and unwind! That is so cool that you said this in your video!! So now you know your impact and importance! You’re a calming genuine peaceful soul Benjiplant! Thank you
(Hi stylist and visual merchandiser here!) I love that shade of blue but perhaps what’s off isn’t the color but the fact that the rest of the wall is still white. You may already be aware, but you can elongate the ceiling height of the room depending on how you paint it while adding some “visual pause” to your decor on the wall. Try painting the rest of that wall blue, that way you’ll know for sure that it’s the color and not the proportions of color that is the problem. It may even help the shelves appear more of a “built in” too!
You’re so sweet and so is your tribe. Such positive and wholesome community. I would suggest painting the shelves a similar colour to your dark green/khaki sofa, I think the plants show up well and bring a touch of cohesiveness. Jihao’s shop look so cool.
I was thinking of that to tie everything in. But I’m slightly worried it might be too green? The rug and sofa are green, and then there are a lot of plants inside and outside that add more green to the space. But a color similar to the couch is my main idea other than white
@@benjiplantyeah i think it was a good choice to make it blue since in my vision, i think it detracts from the earthy colors without having it pop out too much
i think many would rather pay more for an item of higher quality and conciously produced than for cheap shirts that you dont even want to wear after purchase due to how they feel on your body... please dont lower the quality along with price of future merch! i dont know how good the plant swap shirts are but they sound like they are comfortable :)
I think the bookshelf color is cute but it does kinda clash with the rest of your furniture because it's mostly warmer tones that lean towards oranges. Personally I think a forest green that goes with the couches could look nice since there's so much green in one half of the room but the other half looks a bit more bare with all the white wall space. No offense obviously, pick whatever you think looks best!
i just wanna say that you dont have to feel bad about a 45 dollar shirt, there are so many youtubers that sell merch for like 80 dollars so 45 dollars for merch isnt that bad!! never feel bad about the prices you charge if you feel that they are right :)
When ever I see a Benji update I get out my tea service and do a whole relaxing time of making my tea and then sitting outside or curl up on the sofa to watch cause his videos take you into a whole other world of plants and calmness then I usually draw after to unwind from life.
So glad you're realizing the effect your channel has on people. Benji, Chris, JiaHao and friends...you're all sweet, kind, refreshingly modest and inspiring all at the same time. Making the world a nicer place, one video at a time! I loved how the bookcase looked when you showed it painted dark for a few seconds.
I think the blue is really nice on the bookshelves! Maybe it looks slightly out of place because the rest of that wall isn’t painted the same colour. I think it would look great if you painted the top of the wall and beside the door as well. Also once you have decorated the shelves properly it will improve the look! But obviously up to you in the end ☺️
I'm so glad you had a great turnout but I get that feeling of being totally drained from being in such a big group, even more so if your the host. Congratulations on such success!! 🎉
That mini orchid is a wind orchid aka neofinetia falcata. There is a huge following for this very niche orchid and it is reviewed for its tsuke, leaf shape, symmetry etc. if u dive into it youll find theres a lot of different types. bean leaf type, needle leaf, and the roots are diff colors and flowers are crazy with spurs
Considering you have a lot wood and red brick in that room maybe a Mint or Sea Foam green type of color for your bookshelves could work. Your plants would really pop against that color and it would complement the warm red tones in that room too.
Benji you are so thoughtful it’s about the little things from name tag for the swappers to having a smaller group makes it so much likelier to make planty friends. I attended plant swaps but it’s too many people that one don’t know where to start. At the end I feel overwhelmed and just set my plant at the free table and walk away.
In the future, It would be cool to see you create a hoodie or long sleeve plant swap shirt. You could do a cool logo on the back or a decal on the sleeve, keeping the front more minimal.
I’d say pick a deep forest green color for the bookshelves. It will tie in with your plants and the nature view out your windows. It will also look good with the books.
So jealous of the people who could attend the plant swap 😅 Your content is amazing as usual. I am a huge fan and you have inspired me a lot. I got to know a lot about plants from your videos and when I visited my local nursery, the owner was amazed when I recognised a lot of plants I saw in your videos and gave me few saplings as a gift! So thank you Benji ☺️
i just adore your plant videos!! i always play them whenever i want to relax as they are so comforting!! that or i play them when im taking care of my plants,, i recused an injured and very dry money tree today,, i already have 3 others and they are growing so much!! this poor tree was so neglected that i had to prune majority of the leaves off!! however there’s many baby leaves coming in,, i happened see this notification when i was nursing it back to health:)
Hi Benji, I was recently exposed to the concept of a plant swap via my garden club. I certainly enjoyed that event! But your plant swap has added a new level of plant swapping! You have defined a "socially" and inviting atmosphere to include common and exotic plants with organization and knowledgeable skills. I commend you, JiaHao and your mom for a job well done! Btw, the shirts look of quality and fun to have!
i so love plants, i feel like they're my connection to my Mamma who was a gardener to a wealthy family until her death. I remember she brought the excess plants at home and she'd plant them with my Pappa. Those memories made me remember how i enjoyed seeing them together, just having a laugh, free of worries and stuff. THanks for making me remember those precious moments. good luck to you and regards to Chris and your Family
Loved this video for a bunch of reasons... 💚🤎 A tip for the cabinet - paint a swatch and leave it in the space for a full day to see how the colour looks in morning light, day light, evening light, artificial light, and reflected colour, only then will you know if it's going to work for sure cos sometimes you love a colour but it just doesn't translate into the space well.
I have to agree on how relaxing your vlogs are; you have a soothing and inclusive presence🌿and your family is wonderful 🪴and I just adore Theo🐾♥️…thanks from a fellow plant/dog parent!✨💕
Awesome of you to share your thoughts and experience in setting up your latest plant swap. I hope to set up my first plant swap one day in my neck of woods. your post event comments are super helpful to any first time plant swap organizers. Plus, I just ordered the t-shirt via Etsy too. I think you and Jihao make a great plant design duo. If you and Jihao put thought into the quality and design of shirt along with help from lovely illustrator, then I am happy to make the splurge in owning a copy of this year’s plant swap tee. I too have owned various concert t-shirts that never made it to sunlight and live in my closet or were donated since quality for me was not as expected.
Did you swatch different sections of your bookshelf? I always recommend sitting with swatches for months (preferably through 2 seasons) so you can see how that color transforms thoughout the day and season. I also recommend getting a variety of tones and undertones of your paint color to try out. If you try for a different color, definitely paint the shelves back to white you can start with a clean slate. I'd also consider painting that entire wall, not just the shelves. Or, if you're feeling bold, wallpaper. Wallpapering bookshelves is not for the faint of heart, but the effect is fantastic.
Hi Benji!! I just wanted to say thank you so much for making videos like this! I also use them to calm down after a busy day, and they really help me slow down and relax. Wishing you all the best! ♥❤❤
I’ve had a P. grazielae for a few years and the leaves come out a bit wonky like that if it doesn’t have enough humidity. Sometimes they even break off before unfurling. It’s very happy in a glass cabinet though! It’s such a cute plant I think it’s worth the effort. 💚
Great video!! I'm going to my first plant swap later today & this video help give me an idea of what to expect. You could think of attaching a go-pro camera or some other compact cam to yourself & that way you can record & not have to think about it or interrupt anyone to record & just edit later. Those hand woven baskets are super cute.
How about keeping the bookshelf blue an accenting it with backgrounds of wallpapers? I think that would be a cool idea an, a GREAT way to add more. Without adding anything materialistic.
With your book case on the one wall and the cream walls leading over to that bookshelf have you considered like a terra cotta sort of tone to the shelving? You have a a natural wood warm tone going on there I think a earthy sort of paint for the shelving would be warm but not over whelming in the space.
I have hosted 2 plant swaps and have another coming up and it keeps growing. And I won't say how much I brought home but it surprised me and hope the next is even bigger and better
You just have a unique content for each of your video that's kinda interesting for me. I like it so much. Just continue to inspire a lot of people. You're doing a great job!
Hello Benji, your shelf might look good if its painted in warm grey color. The color it has right now is in the cooler side of grey so it doesn't blend in your interior quite well because your house has warm tones. Hope to see more of your plant and house tour soon :)
Hi Benji ! Love your videos, thank you for sharing ! I was wondering, isnt the ghost orchid an endangered species from Florida ? They get poached a lot ! It's cool since you got it at the plant swap, but maybe it could be nice to spread that info so other viewers don't try and buy some :) Kinda like the warning you did for the codex plant, it was really great ! Would love to hear your opinion on this :)
community building 🥰💚💙💜 love local spaces to get together :) also would say its very fair to pay that much for a shirt, just because it gets that expensive when you actually pay everyone involved a fair price ^^
I think the bookshelf would look really cool in a wood stain or brown color. It would probably tie in a lot better with the room while still being separated from the wall.
I live in CO so I'd be happy to be apart of a trial group for shipping the Passiflora in colder weather when they're ready! I've tried to cop one a few times but I'm always too slow. A trial group would benefit the both of us! I get a plant (hopefully) and you get to learn if they'll survive (hopefully) 😁
I've watched your channel for a while now and I love the content that you create! I also really appreciate how people focused you are and that you don't allow making content to disrupt that. I really do hope that I can meet you one day (and Theo of course)! :)
wow, you got some good plants. All the plant swaps I have been to in SF weren’t too good. Folks took all my plants though lol. I bought a t-shirt, or ordered on Etsy. Can’t wait!
If you do another shirt run, it would also be important to increase the sizing range, as that also allows for it be far far more accessible to all people
