- Karratha is a town of contrasts, it has the industrial side of mining, the commercial support township for the workers here - shops, etc.
Then Karratha has the Indian Ocean and the 42 islands within a 45km radius, to visit and explore. We did an overnight exploration of some of these, thank you so much to some wonderful generous friends, Kim and Rob.
Inland from Karratha is the red sand and spinifex with wonderful gorges and waterfalls and pools to find and swim in.
Just north of Karratha is a small peninsula - with Point Samson and Cossack both interesting little townships to visit, have a coffee or lunch.
I live in Karratha beautiful place I love it it got up to 49 degrees
Absolutely beautiful scenery in the Pilbara, love the rock formations.
I've worked and lived in Karratha from 2005 to 2009. I miss the warm ocean water and pristine white sandy beaches, the almost 365 day sunshine, and the weekend fishing there. Totally different from where I am now here in British Columbia, Canada LOL. I want to go back there one day.

Which island / what bay did you camp on? And where is the reported surf spot located. Would love even a small wave 🌊
We went with a friend - and sorry don’t sure of the name but left side of the main channel and their is a surf spot on the mainland side of
The channel. Locals would give you specific directions

Next time. It’s quite industrial but functions well
