      Yea it makes u wonder that the plates where he works out at and these are not the same. That increase is too much. He’s probably been benching 185 (but in reality 190195) for reps without knowing. I remember at the gym I struggled to hit 185 and then I worked out with my buddy in his garage and I maxed out to 185 just for a quick rep and I ended up doin like 5reps and it felt lighter.

    My bench press PR is 180 pounds. I just did 175 pounds today. I will someday hit 2 plates (225 pounds or 102kg). Respect for Nick being strong and fast still!

      @@Shonade_Malik, there are guys a lot stronger than me, including Nick Symmonds. I have been training hard lifting weights, but there are times I just can’t workout, due to me being forced to go on my high school’s swim team by my mom and due to me not having a gym membership, and naturally get myself weaker. I can pretty much only lift weights 2-3 days a week in my PE class, which is not nearly as much volume as my body requires to continue building muscle. I can only do so much in each of those 2-3 days a week of me lifting weights. I need to add more volume into my training, be more consistent, and eat more protein for me to continue gaining strength. Too bad I won’t be able to lift weights for the next 2 weeks in my high school’s weight room since for these next 2 weeks I’ll be on winter break. I don’t have my own money to buy myself a gym membership.

    I LOVED seeing the girls bench! I recently hit 135 on my bench this week. I wish more girls would participate! Maybe if you had a female cohost on a challenge or made it more clear the female competitors will lift 70%.

    You inspired me to run in high school and now I'm bulking up to become the biggest I've ever been. I hit 225 on bench a few months ago and will wok even harder in the gym after I'm done with this sickness. The channel is awesome and I hope I can compete in one of these challenges one day!

      Yesterday i had my first workout after 2 weeks sick, my squat specificity really showed, as my bench and deadlift were basically unchanged, but my squat dropped noticably. My goal right before i got sick was to atg 300 by feb, looks like im going to have to aim for march...

    Mannnn I wish I could get in on some of these, I think I’d definitely take some of your money haha! Just hit a 365 bench pr this past Wednesday, and I’ll be going for a 500 lbs squat, and 600+ lbs deadlift pr first week of January… wish me luck😅

      Ive benched thin girls before, but due to the imbalance, lack of a good way to hold, and having to balance a second axis as well, youre not going to bench a person that weighs anywhere near what you can bench on a bar. I bench 205 and 130lb girl is a hard bench for me.

      @@guitaro5000 you could put a small platform on the bar of a smith machine and use a cable and pulley for a counterbalance weight to offset the weight of the bar and platform, and put grips up top so nick can lift himself off of the platform if need be. Would look good, but sounds unnecessarily dangerous and complex for randos off of the street

    When I started setting my goal well past 2 plates, I saw the most improvement. In march I was 1 repping 225, now it's my 8 rep. I'm looking for 3 plates by the end of this year.

      I think her frame is naturally narrower so it looks closer than it really is, and certainly would be for a lot of males. But whatever the case very impressive.

      I only train close grip and am way stronger in it... if I go wide I'm weaker and won't hit the same numbers.... I think it's more what we predominantly train and what we're stronger in. For me closeness really lets me tuck in my elbows and pack my lats and really lets me use my triceps.... if I go out wide it's like shutting my triceps off and doesn't allow me the same power to press.
      Not trying to take away from the impressiveness of the lift... just saying there are those of us who train with a narrow grip because it's more advantageous, not everyone is going to be better with a wider grip.

      @@unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 I'm just the opposite. For me I prefer a wider grip. The same when doing push-ups, I much prefer to go slightly wider than probably most people, because I know my chest(pecs) is much stronger than my triceps.
      Unfortunately the new Army fitness test aims to isolate more tricep and less pec when it comes to the push-up event.

      Girls specifically close grip bench bcs they naturally have huge pecs, so its basically cheating for them to grip wide and use the chest, instead they close grip so they can work their triceps
