This may be a touchy subject for this channel, but have you made a video touching on the politcal climate of Spokane? It seems like a pretty blue-moderate town, but Northern Idaho right next door seems extremely conservative, with neo-nazis in Couer d'alene being a big story awhile back which turns me off the region a bit despite what I like about it otherwise. Does that affect the feel and safety of marginalized communities in spokane?

Hey Jimmu! This is a really great question and I appreciate you bringing it up. Washington state itself is really quite liberal and while Spokane is definitely a blue collar and conservative leaning city it still becomes pretty obvious that the combination of somewhat conservative values are met by a fairly liberal core population. I’m gay and live a very happy and safe life with my partner, I grew up going to a fairly conservative school here locally (Saint George’s) and even in early 2000s I felt reasonably supported by my peers and things have only improved from there according to my younger nieces still in school locally. Coeur d’Alene despite the national news coverage is also really very liberal. Maybe not some of the original locals who have been there for generations or some of the folks who stay more rural but if you’re in city areas I don’t think you’ll find much issue. On the negative side the news articles about neo nazis (and proud boy parades) are real. They exist in the surrounding rural areas because Idaho is a very conservative state but when I think about the actual impact they’ve had on my life - it’s very small. They are a loud minority who happens to get a lot of news coverage. But my day to day life it totally unaffected by them being there in the forest two hundred miles from anywhere I feel like being. 😁 Hope that helps to answer your question!

The housing prices are ridiculous in WA...I'm sorry but it's just not worth it now living in Spokane even. It used to be the affordable place in WA....not anymore.
