Great video. I love them all! Thank you for posting this. All raptors, including vultures and buzzards, are gorgeous. They're all God's awesome creatures, IMHO.
The bearded vulture primarily feeds on a diet of bones and marrow and will drop hard to crack bones onto rocks below to get the stuff out. Their feathers are white or pale yellow, but they have a habit of rolling in the rare red soils and clays in the mountains to dye their feathers a brilliant shade of scarlet. These mineral deposits are often fought over, so the redder the vulture, the more powerful it is. In other words, bone-eating dragon birds who wear war paint.
Ya no one likes their means of survival but there’s actually a lot of cool attributes they have as birds. They’re satellites when it comes to altitude. Prehistorically they’re the biggest bird. They’re pretty cool besides being gross
They live everywhere in the US. Along with the Black Vulture. Turkey Vulture are slightly larger and have pink heads, which you already know lol. I'm more fond of the black vultures. I live in louisiana way back in the pine forests and there is 1 that finds me everytime I'm outside in the woods and flys 15 20ft above me and makes 3 croaks. We make eye contact and everything, its amazing.
Vicky Keiffer. Absolutely birds talk to us, and they have feelings about us as individuals. I cherish wild birds too. I'm in Southern Illinois. I will miss my wild birds when I sell my house and move to senior housing this year. I can only hope that the next owner feeds them treats and leaves the tree litter and ground cover in place over winter for the smaller birds.
The bearded vulture is also known as the Lammergier vulture it's nickname as " lamb catcher" but these vulture is not a predator, it feeds primarily in bone marrow carcass. By breaking them in great heights. This vulture has a strong resemblance to an eagle, because it's head is covered with thick feathers, and it's not bald compare to it's african relative
I love vultures. I have a turkey vulture with white primary feathers living on a cell phone tower by my house. He even followed my hand gestures eventually spreading his wings. His long feathers are pure bright white.
I'm from Trinidad and Tobago, we have both the Black vulture and the Turkey vulture on our shores and we rarely but occasionally get visits from the King vulture.
Omg omg, the turkey vulture give me pure happiness and I can feel serotonin raging through my body rn. They're faces are so stupidly cute omg why is it so cute-
Vultures are beautiful! In Austria, where I come from, we have four species: the cinereous vulture, the griffon vulture, the egyptian vulture, and, my favourite, the bearded vulture. By the way, you Took footage from cinereous vultures in the Black vulture Part.
For me, in terms of colored skin is the King Vulture.. It has beautiful combination of colored skins on the head.. In terms of skin and feather color combination, I go with the Egyptian Vulture.. Its yellow/white face goes well with its cream colored feathers and it looks so beautiful just like of that of a Secretary Bird.. So lovely.. Then when it comes to feather color I go with the Bearded Vulture... The orange beard feathers is so lovely and beautiful that it goes well with the other dark color of the said vulture.. The King, Egyptian, and the Bearded Vultures is for me the most lovely ones.. They are so lovely and beautiful.. Others are scared of them because they eat death themselves but for me, how can they be so rude and scared they are so beautiful.. One of our God's beautiful masterpieces.. Not only the 3 of them but all of them..
Heey! Number two lives here in Minnesota! My city's zoo has one that's been around since I was a little kid, and I had always thought of them to be one of the most average vultures, but I'm glad that they're not since they've got to be my favorite breed. Nice video.
4:52 "has an excellent eyesight and SMELL." Really? It smells good, huh? The flag that appears when you say Africa is the flag for the country of the Central African Republic. We might infer that you are given us the exact geographical location of this bird based on the flag you show, but your visual and audio are not congruent and seem to lack effort and basic information that would allow us to make that inference. A vulture is any bird of prey belonging to the families Aegypiidae and Cathartidae, since vultures are not a monophyletic group, the two families are not closely related, the former is more closely related to the families Sagittariidae (Secretarybird), Aquilidae (Eagles), Pandionidae (Ospreys), and Accipitridae (Hawks, Kites, Buzzards, and Harriers) while the latter is more closely related to the families Caracaridae (Caracaras) and Falconidae (Falcons, Kestrels, Hobbies, and Falconets), interestingly eagles, hawks, kites, buzzards, harriers, ospreys, secretarybirds, vultures, falcons, kestrels, hobbies, falconets, caracaras, and seriemas are collectively known as birds of prey, a bird of prey is any member of the order Falconiformes, this order also includes the extinct terror birds (family Phorusrhacidae) and the more primitive-looking extinct gastornithids and dromornithids.
I would feel remiss at not bringing attention to the section on the Black Vulture (Since this is such a well done and accessible intro into the wonderful world of vultures). It contains footage of both the Old World Eurasian Black Vulture (aka Cinereous Vulture) and the New World American Black Vulture. Since they are completely unrelated species with totally different appearance and behavior, I think it would be helpful to make that clear to the viewers. Sorry if I missed previous comments on the same topic, but I’m afraid I don’t have time to go through all 300+ of them 😃
3:19 Thought i'd mention that the creators of this video showed 2 different types of black vulture. The first ones shown were "american black vultures", new world vultures, but then we see a clip of a black vulture, or cinereouse vulture, an old world vulture from europe.
hey! New world vultures are vultures that are native to America. They also evolved from cranes, unlike old world vultures (the vultures that live in eurasia and Africa, they evolvedfrom eagles!). This is called convergent evolution. As for "befriending", if you mean do they hang around other species, the awnser would be yes! Each vulture plays a role in cleaning up a carcass. Hope this helps!
Fun fact: I've noticed three distinct vulture species with the exact same ecological niche as one another: 1. Lappet-faced Vulture (Africa) 2. Red-headed vulture (India) 3. Cinereous vulture (Eurasia) Look up all these big guys. You'll see what I mean. 🧐

I am incredibly disappointed by the poor research of this video. For one, half of the introductions of the vultures are not the vultures that are the topic of the segment. The black vulture, although will finish off dying animals, does not actively hunt living, let alone healthy, prey. Vultures by their nature rely of dead, decaying, or some times dying food. The Lappet-Faced Vulture does not have a good sense of smell; in general, all old world Vultures rely on sight to see carrion. Some new world vultures have a keen sense of smell to locate obscure carrion, with the most famous being the Turkey Vulture, which was not mentioned. Many larger vultures without great sense of smell rely on Turkey Vultures to locate prey otherwise invisible to their dependent sense of sight. Lastly, the Bearded Vulture, although does hunt and kill living animals, particularly during nesting season, has a diet that consists mostly on bones. Up to 90% of their diet in fact. They are on the tail end of the scavenger pecking order no less. They will drop bones from high up onto hard rocks below, breaking big bones apart into swallow-able chunks. They do eat meat, and occasionally kill, but their preferred diet is that of bones, usually picked clean by other scavengers. That would be a great fact to learn.
Hello! Yes, the Old World is Europe, Africa and Asia. The New World is both North and South America. It can apply to any animal that exist in both locations. It originated from the times of European colonialism. I personally believe the terms should change. It no longer makes sense and moving away from eurocentrism is never a bad thing imo :)

@Thirsty boi yea it comes around 1:12
My favorite is the Egyptian vulture.

Now, I know about the Bearded vulture
Thanks man! Cool facts

Yep. Probably one of the most popular vultures

instead of choosing one most beautiful, I'll choose the less majestic one: the black vulture (and the condors). But the others are all amazing.

What does "New World Vulture" mean? And do you know if they will befriend another species of vultures?

That's so interesting I understand now. That's so fun to know they hang out together.
There is a mistake in this video. The OP has considered the Black vulture to be similar with Cinerous vulture, both of which are distinct birds.
AWESOME 🙏👌👌🙏❤️
Fun fact: I've noticed three distinct vulture species with the exact same ecological niche as one another:
1. Lappet-faced Vulture (Africa)
