I'm 31 and I live in Perth, Western Australia and I used to have a marine tank as a 14 year old kid that I got for my birthday that I bought with my savings. I learnt everything I could about reef fish and what to do to keep them healthy. However, when me and my family went away on holiday, we had a neighbor that was supposed to look after the fish while we were away. The day after we went away, something went wrong with the skimmer and it started to leak. The neighbor also was not checking in like he said he would. We got back home after 3 weeks with starving fish and only 5 inches of water left... So the fish were starting to drown. All the rest of the water flooded the study carpet. My dad was furious and out of anger he got rid of the tank and never had one since... :( I worked so hard to look after my fish from a young age. I studied so many books and had to prove I could look after freshwater fish for years before getting marine fish. Now I have just got my first house with my wife and a newborn who watches my aquarium PC live wallpaper. So now, I have a dream to build a marine tank in the study where I work remotely as an animator for films and teach my son how to take care of them. So currently trying to save money to one day build one. But here in Australia, work is tough :( One day the dream will come true.
