2019 Diesel Power Challenge Presented by XDP | Part 5-Sled Pulls and Awards

- Eight Competitors Remain for the Final Day of Action. Dominating one discipline in the competition does not guarantee a trophy. Competitors must be consistent throughout the event to be in the running for the top prize. It came down to the wire in the final episode of DPC 2019 Presented by XDP!
I'm glad the guy with the OBS Ford took home something... Guy came with a older platform endured wreck on top of wreck and made it to the end... Salute Sir!!!!
Edit: he endured it all with a positive attitude too
@Henry a 12v 5.9 swap would be killer
@Henry that works too
@Henry International DT360 would be my swap.
No joke, talk about being way out of your league and still hanging with the more powerful and newer trucks. The technical advances between 10 years is astounding so it’s a miracle that he made it as far as he did
Testament to how good the truck was built the engine is old and tired tho just rebuild it
No wonder almost all the trucks hopped. Just look at how wavy the track was. Not sure I would even pull my truck in those track conditions.
I'm loving the OBS and 12 valve. Also love seeing my Cummins brothers out strong this year, there wasn't hardly any last year.
u most hate duramax lol
Considering that that OBS was waaaaaayyyyyy outclassed he should be proud...
Lol the announcer was way off on almost every pull 😂🤦♂️🤷♂️
I think its tradition to have the most clueless announcer for this entire series
execpt for the ford part.
Stephen M you ain’t lying lol
I’m sure I’m not the only one by a country mile that’s been wanting to see this...
You guys should take new 100% stock trucks as close to identical as possible, 3 3/4 tons, and 3 1 tons, and put them through these tests!
(And maybe even get some rims and have all the trucks do the tests wearing the same rubber to eliminate any advantage/disadvantage from the high mileage rubber that comes on most trucks)
Anyone can test 0-60 and simple stuff like that, and that’s what most car magazines do
This is a truck... a diesel truck.../ real truck magazine
So where are the real truck tests
Yeah the articles of modded trucks are cool but I think I’m not alone in wanting to see stuff like this featured more 😁
And make it free to watch on youtube.....
Like your idea mabe move to three classes factory modified outlaw
Tommy Topham that would be fine, but I’d love to see what a stock Ford, GM, and Ram could do in these tests. And see how a stock truck compared to these highly modified trucks featured here.
Could even make that a separate test of its own. Obviously the modded trucks are better, but how much better? What would the difference be in a stock engine vs these trucks that most have boatloads of money thrown into them
Great idea, I’d love to see that and I’m sure others would too
Yes emission equipped trucks doing same events or have 2 classes outlaw like these trucks and emission equipped trucks
Next year you might wanna ship in some Georgia clay. Probably get some better conditions.
At least put some moisture in the track. That was pathetic.
@@chrisc6188 Depending on the dirt it would either not help or clump up real nasty.
Or have the event at a different location with better conditions. All I hear every year is how bad the air is and how high the elevation is with a high DA. Only one way to improve that.
@@ponypwr Thats part of the challenge though. Building a truck that runs at elevation takes some planning.
It would be nice to see better truck pulls. When not one can make a full pull im going with poor track.
That has to be the worst pulling track I have ever seen, and I've pulled on hundreds of tracks.
I agree for one its not even its got alot of ups and downs really loose and needs to be wer down first
I mean yeah, but they all used the same track so technically it's still mostly fair because every truck was in the same condition on the track.
i was thinking the same thing. i feel sorry for all the first time pullers have to experience such a terribly prepped track
these trucks are built for power and that's it. None of these drivers even have experience pulling. what do you expect?
@@16BitOG that has nothing to do with how the sled pull track is prepped
Wow, a free full video.
Brandon Pollard Hey, these guys make nothing off of UA-cam. I don’t blame them for having a pay per view type system. I paid $85 CAD for a 2yr membership, and cancelled all of my cable extras because of it. Well worth the money
Andrew Lang I pay for motortrend but I never expected to see another free episode lol
They have put DPC and UA on UA-cam for a while, but I'm surprised they did it this year.
Favorite truck on competition ole 7.3 an 6.4 where my powerstroke family at
7.3 owner right here. Love seeing those trucks in this kind of competition.
Folks underestimate what powerstrokes can do. Loved hearing the grunt of the 7.3
I have an 03 7.3 and a 15 6.7. Wouldn't own anything but a ford
7.3s have best diesel sounds nxt is 6.4 then 6.0
10 Competitors and about 20 Awards . . feels like a Kindergarten Sports Event . . looks like everybody gets a participation-Medal :D . .
Might be liberals hosting the championship 😂
All ten are already winners because you were chosen. Those a ten bad to the bone trucks.
I mean all these guys pretty much destroyed their trucks trying to finish the 5 competitions, they at least deserve something to hang on the wall to show for it lol.
What an embarrassing drag pulling track looks like a chisel plowed field would be smoother.. smh
I built the whole motor for this competition.. (10 sec later): "to not be set up at all for this.." lol PICK ONE MAN!
Duramax for the second year in a row !
TroBudden lets not forget a 6.0 has won before 2 years in row
It sort of goes to show that although you need a good base of a truck it's how you build it that really makes or breaks it. And someone that really knows the ins and outs of a particular platform (be it Cummins, Powerstroke, or Duramax), if they can use their knowledge of that properly, they can build a really mean truck. Also, the better you know your truck the more you can finesse the power and put everything into the event and yet know the limits of their truck well enough to know when to hold back.
Cross eyed Chevy
Pretty sure is Clayton (think that’s his name) was in a Cummins, he’d win. If he was in a Powerstroke, he’d win.
The guy won.
Duratrash AKA Isuzu
Third gen Rams, a 2nd gen 12v, Silverado Classics, an OBS 7.3, and a 6.4, what an amazing lineup!
Edit: forgot the LMM
Gyrenaica 135 Don’t forget there’s a LMM haha.
@@kolyncantrell6762 oh yeah, forgot that too
Right on! Plus they looked like they actually drive them. Not show queens
KJ always looks like he's about to whip out a fishing pole and go catch some trout!
I’m sorry this is the worst diesel power challenge yet. It felt so rushed this year every video was just ran through as quickly as possible. Some of these trucks were nice but the others........... and what’s up with this sled pull track????? Yeah let me cut some dirt real quick and let’s leave it totally dry total rut holed dust storm.
RJS92 totally agree
Obviously you didn't watch 2017 or 18
I agree, the last few years its been getting worse though.
You got exactly what you paid for crybaby
I've watched every year of DPC on youtube, this is the best by far, thank you!
Am I the only one that thinks that’s one of the worst pulling tracks they have ever seen?
I wanna see a return of Richard coker, Charlie keeter, and Lavon Miller in the line up of contestants.
Coker was awesome throughout the comp. Well deserved win. Everyone did an amazing job.
chris s His single cab was a beautiful ride. I’m not even really a diesel fan, but his truck is the type I’d love to have
Best year ever was when Lavon won for the second time...everyone of those drivers were great and all the trucks were awesome.
Win or not the guy in the lifted truck is straight up impressive and is out there proving some points
WATER THAT TRACK!!!!!!!
There was a run away diesel and they don't have a video?!
It's cool seeing trucks doing things they should not be able to do, like runnig the quarter faster than the 740hp Ferrari F12, but this sled pull is the thing they should do, and it's so awesome as you can see violence happening.
also Brian Lohnes could make even F1 interesting
Like a rock!!! Chevy!!!
Amazing competition. Keep it all going. Thank you
Motortrend: We're taking RoadKill off youtube
Everybody: Bring it back
Motortrend: Diesel Power Challenge
Everybody:
🤣🤣🤣
6:53 now that's badass LOL
FYI, Bandemere is over 5800’ elevation. More than 600’ higher than Denver.
Plain & Simple, Chevy Always Win!
When you going to have the 20 20 trucks going on
Awesome week, and agree with person below should be stock trucks also.
Also wish more roadkill at last event love to see guys push there trucks to breaking to win as you see most give up so they can go on trailer....whats the saying "GO HARD or GO HOME" :)
Keep on truckin
There is never a "stock" class unless they do an IROC type deal where the body provides equally prepared vehicles. Guys will always modify something that makes it non stock.
1st time watching and its pretty awesome to see a Head 2 Head battle. N.H.B. And the comrodery was Awesome to
GM this GM that GM IFs XD ford this and that geez those chevy for real made it pretty well even the IFS looked more solide that thos solid axel XD
Did they not allow drive train swaps this year? Seems like all the trucks were way more tame after the runaway Chevy last year.
I'm a powerstroke guy but after watching this week, I might want to try a Duramax sometime...
That's the poorest excuse of a pulling track that I ever seen especially for a competition pull that was a joke
I would have been real pissed, getting my truck there for a competition and then they take like 10 minutes to make a track with no water or nothing. so stupid, it was a battle of traction not diesel power.
Melvin Martin seriously.....and it literally baffles me that KC Jones not only editor of diesel power magazine, but is running this event. Whenever I hear him talk about this Motorsport I feel like I’m listening to someone who has never even seen a diesel in person, let alone owned, modified, or worked on one in any way, shape, or form. Dude is a complete moron.
@@DanEvan I 100% agree with you!
@@DanEvan agreed... that's the exact reason I unsubscribed several years back. DPC has turned into a joke!
@@DanEvan 1266% agree with you its like they were looking around the office one day and picked a random dude to run the magazine
TEXAS BABY! 💪
Wisconsin represent!
Everyone gets a trophy.
Wow the single cab, stripped interior, drag truck won? Who knew
Lavon Miller showed his secret for the 300 feet Mark on his channel, Firepunk Diesel. He used some stoppers on the suspension so the truck didn't hop at all.
That's not really a secret. All the guys who pull often will do it if the rules allow
I wanna see Greg Alberalla compete next year
Love seeing those GM front wheels go cross-eyed when put in a strain. Tie rods aren't meant to flex that way. IFS is for cars and light duty trucks.
How did Coke not get driver skill award?!?!? Dude caught a gague to the face during a race and still won
All he needed to do at that point was hold the pedal all the way down.
@@ericspda and then the trailer course challenge ?
I assume starting from stand still is much more difficult than keeping up once you’re up and running?? If so, why do they stall as soon as they seem to get the hang of it?
The weight on the sled slides forward making it harder to pull.
Hold on the truck they all chose was a 6.4?!
Wow 12v in 3rd
Did he just politically correct himself at the end haha "Person" and machine"
I am totally disappointed with kodi pulliam... I mean this guy was on fire last year... And I know most guys don't get a shot at winning 2 years in a row but I kinda was hoping he'd place higher... Even if you were broken at least come with extra stuff to repair and carry on... I'm glad the chevys are getting the wins since now since in past years they all fall apart by time they get on the dragstrip...
Hey guys, it felt good, like really good, you might say it even felt good.
This guy really hates chevy tie rods.
Everyone hates Chevy tie rods. They hate themselves so much that they commit suicide under load.
During the pull and drag, why don’t they match tires? Street slicks are just spinning on the dirt.
They aren't allowed to change tires during the competition so what they have on the trucks at the beginning is what they must use for all events.
Gotta have stock big 3 run the X diesel power tournament... gonna be very interesting
#2020XDP
Really disappointed with the trucks this year. And that sled pull track is absolutely horrible!!!!
D-MAX all the way
Track was way too dry.
Its set up for drag racing. Deeeeeerrrrrrrrrr.
I love sled pulls
This makes tesla wanna cry
Where did last years winner place?
Maybe the announcer should have a feed from the drone...
Can you get some announcers that know anything about the events or diesels in general...? Its embarrassing.
Congrats to Ray Romano on getting the win!
Diesel power is breathing it's last. Old, smelly, and weak- like my granddaddy. These shows will become carnival events, and then fade into obscurity. Electric started the whole thing back in the mid 1800's and will soon retake the throne of power!
The energy density of a battery is, with the current technology, not practical for long haul applications. Plus, have you seen where they mine lithium for batteries?
Laura Harris Ok.
Go to Buck motorsports park in Pennsylvania. That track hooks.
mrbadmojoe indeed because this pile of shite sure didn’t
Surprised they didn’t just pick a gravel road to pull on.
That track has no clay. To much sand
Sounds like everyone needs new tie rods
Yea...nice pulling course...not. gravel and dry.
Tristan Wolff in England we have farmer gatherings every year and in our what we call, “country tractor pulls” it’s clay, wet clay
If we had gravel on a pulling course up here, people would freak out.
Diesel power challenge is the best competition, and Lohnes is the best host.
Announcer is Ty from Dude Perfects twin....
When will they figure out nobody wants to hear the announcer talk during the events shut up because he doesn’t know anything and diesel guys wanna hear the trucks not him
930pm 4k views MotorTrend has 6.5 million subscribers........ what that tell ya?
Tells me absolute jack. Heard of timezones?
@@pongodongo645 No matter the time zone 930pm is end of the day. Vid was posted that morning aprox 10-12 hrs earlier and had only 4k views.....
All these huge pick ups have totally the wrong geometry and setup for sled pulling
Especially considering the appalling track it was a battle for traction, momentum wasn’t even any use
All I was thinking is that stevie wonder built the track. On the other hand he would have got it level at least lol
Good grief these guys need to control bounce
where the good old 7.3???
Lol they are in the junk yard or an OLD tow rig.. those old engines dont make the reliable BIG power for this show... they had 1 on a while back and it lost pretty much everything.. as in last place. Good looking old truck though. But in reality, its just now that powerful
Apparently you missed the white OBS lol.
@@13Dixiefried the one that blew up? Lol
Ever heard of 4wd 2 gen dully
Nice CFL gang !!!
I watched when this event streamed, Brad commented then about how awful this track was. Can't believe there weren't more broken trucks.
why is this so fun to watch?
Come on Sean where’s your homie Lighting?
#bhole
New Mexico place in 4th not bad
He’s from Mexico not from New Mexico
THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT GAVE THIS A THUMBS DOWN WAS THE P.O.S FORD GUYS
In like to punch the but that started the obs name. There were many older body styles before the 90's.
It's a obs powerstroke not a obs ford. At least that's how I understand it.
Nobody knows how to pull anything?
Can y’all get a more knowledgeable announcer, that being said, appreciated not hearing “give it the wood” which confused everyone for years
2 views 12 likes 1 dislike.NICE UA-cam
Glad they’re giving special ed people a platform to have fun !
Awe isn't that sweet.... a kinder gentler competition where everyone wins, all you have to do is show up.... what ever happened to the TOP 3... 1st ,2nd and 3rd period.??? If your not on the podium, you didn't make the cut, thanks for coming but you fell short.
I didn't see you out there destroying your truck that costs many hours and thousands of dollars to fix, a lot of these guys destroyed their transmissions and engines and everything else and you're saying they don't at least deserve a little placard to hang on the wall to show they were there and the entertainment / good competition they put up? Stop being so judgmental and enjoy the show.
smokey
Do a skid
This is the worst pulling track iv ever seen . with a decent track they all could have done much better.
Pull it the *farthest.*
just imagine a climate activist watching this
Need a event with all the past winners. MAGA!!!!
Oh
That track was garbage.
Wow, that sucked.
