    Great video! I did a similar one, but with legs...wish I had seen this first and done it like a shelf - I had staggered the legs on mine so that my kitty could still sneak behind the sofa!

    Wonderful idea! Very cool. I can see potentially adding some decorative storage, narrow side access shelves to make it more functional. Thanks for sharing 👍

    This is a really neat idea however some things I would have done: integrate wireless charge pads along the shelf, way cleaner. As someone else said some recessed cup holders. Either way great easy project and something I'm going to do as well.

      Can’t have a wireless charger for a computer Jim and that was one of the main things I needed. But yes I totally get your thought if you didn’t need that. Thanks for watching Jim and your support.

    Nice shelf and instruction. Over time I'd be concerned about the sofa rubbing on the shelf edge and damaging the fabric. One could put boards on the floor to butt up against the sofa feet and the wall or some type of "padding" on the face of the shelf so the fabric isn't directly touching the shelf.

    Great idea. I've seen a handful of videos of diy behind the couch "table" but this one is different in the way that you just directly screwed it to the wall. I'm not a fan of that for my walls and as some ppl have already mentioned the wireless charging would definitely be a must for us. And lastly, almost 1 Benji, Jul at a couple of dollars shy of $100, for the pop-up outlet???!! Definitely a heck no for me. Way more cheaper options on Amazon. Other than that, really loved the feather finish thing. Totally different

    I’ve always heard they were called chip brushes because they were originally meant to be used to brush away metal chips when machining.

    BRENT! YAASSSSS! This is a brilliant little project! I couldn't love it more! I've been wanting to try working with that Ardex Feather Finish stuff for a while now...interesting texture. (It looks like a midway point between joint compound and concrete...is that about accurate, you think? Headed to Amazon to get me sum and will use your link for sure!) I love the pop-up outlet, and the magnet securing the side panel is oh so smart. I love all things magnetic and have them all over the place, but I'd never considered them for an application like this. (I use them on my table saw for a couple push sticks, a small tape measure, a pencil, etc.) This is one of those rare UA-cam presentations that solves several problems, looks as good as it functions, and is so simple that practically anyone could do it...As the self-appointed president of your fan club, thank you for coming up with it! lol Made my day! it really is OBSBOY!

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  3 роки тому +1

      Yessss Adam!!! Love hearing that and yes you are correct. It is the consistency of joint compound but hardens like concrete. I love magnets to and its always fun to use them in different ways like this. This comment made my day Adam because you never know how your videos will be received and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again for all of the love and support.

    Chip brushes are cheap, ratty brushes we use in machining to sweep metal shavings, or chips, off the machine components so they don't get into any moving parts.

    I noticed that you didn't show the wiring connection between the popup outlet with the main outlet. Does it connect through a plugpoint, or do you need to make a rewiring through the wall outlet?

    • @zakssophie

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  3 роки тому

      LOL! Well I guess the finish isn't for everyone haha The finish in all honest is more subtle then what is shown in the video at the end because there aren't lights directly on it. Its fun in different in my opinion but get it bud. Thanks for watching and your support Chase.

    I have limited DIY skills. I just put an extension cord under my sofa and made a small hole in the seam of the fabric between the cushions. My charger cords are threaded through that hole and I just tuck them back under the cushions when not in use. Only took 10 minutes.

      Can do surround system. When you want to watch a movie just pop them up. And front ones could be hidden in other furniture.
