Austin, I'm not certain that your thesis is correct. as it makes sense in the real world, but not in our Gristolian City Dunwall. ya see, according to the lore, the rat's themselves were responsible being, A. different from the standard rat in size, coarseness of fur, and intellect, and could not spread plague to other rats, and only plague rats could spread it to humans, save other humans. and B. the infection rate was an odd thing due to The Lord Regent's policies of Barricading Entire Districts, leaving them to basically become "Plague Pits" effectively, the only people able to travel between them, or through them, being the nobility, the city watch, and the overseers. effectively, the city of Dunwall doesn't make sense, using your epidemiology system. I don't fault you for these mistakes, and the work was VERY well done, even if you were basing it off bad data. I do believe there are some more parameters that you should consider taking into account. And again, this video, was indeed, awesome.
You should do a no kill stealth play through in Dishonored it's pretty hard but so satisfying and as a bonus the game gets easier the less body's are found and because you technically weren't there. So they don't suspect someone to come and have less guards.
Ian Bailey, don't quote me directly, but it would work, just not have the same effects on people as it does in the game. If you could a large enough electric current in Winston's gun, probably by using a Marx generator, the electric discharge would ionize the air, and allow electricity to jump through the air. This would be difficult to sustain at the level he does it, but it would work. The problem is, it wouldn't exactly auto lock on to living things, and the voltage would be high enough to cause insane damage internally.
Food in fallout must simply BE PERFECTLY sterilised and perfectly sealed which means that medicine in fallout is incredibly advanced such irony much wow!
I'm pretty sure canned shit has a nearly indefinite lifetime. As far as I recall, the cans don't corrode so after being perfectly sealed, only physical damage can cause them to leak. Additionally, the inside of the can is very low on oxygen, and even if any aerobic bacteria happen to have been left behind somehow, they'll just consume the oxygen. The only life that can exist in such a thing would be some kind of an-aerobic life, which does exist, yes, but since the stuff is pretty much sterilized often by boiling the water and heating the cans themselves, there's not much danger in that. No additional preservatives needed. Currently, at least in the EU, there's a fucking directive (like there is for everything) that any product should not exceed a shelf life of 2 years. Canned shit still has a technical indefinite shelf life, but it's just capped to 2 years for legal reasons
I never understood why people made jokes about Corvo getting down on the empress, Emily literally wrote daddy on her picture of Corvo. It's not that hard to figure out.
Hey, I've started watching this, but I found an enormous flaw in your "science". You have those enormous counters of susceptible rats, but by listening to Dr.Galvani's audiograph in-game, you learn that he has been studying them, and knows that the plague rats are their own species of rat, different from regular rats. He says that the plague is in their systems, not from fleas on the rats. (Could people like and reply so he sees this?)

Could you also argue that Corvo is also responsible for spreading the plague because he stabs the fuck out of people leading to a higher probability of blood to blood contact?
The true villain in dishonored is the Outsider. He is responsible for Duad, the brigmore witches, granny rags, the rat plague and Corvos murder spree....the overseers where correct. Every time the outsider influences the world, shit goes bad.
Thief? You mourn that nothing has come close to Thief? Have you ever tried playing Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines? You'll forever and ever feel as though every game is knda crap in comparison.
DarkPrject I didn't care for it. I'm not saying it was bad and no one should play it by any means. I just felt there wasn't anything that put that game above average. Some of the lore was kinda neat, the character design wasn't bad the sound track was good, but the gameplay felt lackluster to me.
SavageMoose It's not about the game play, even though I enjoyed that too, it's the fact that it's an actual rpg with insane amounts of player agency and incredible attention to detail, rather than just a game with what we have come to think of as rpg mechanics.
I'd say it was The Outsider. He knows everything that is happening and will happen. He gives everyone their powers and lets them commit as much anarchy as they want.
Joseph The Producer nah, I don’t think outsider is that much of a dick, don’t forget, he also gave power to Corvo, even if Corvo “loses” his gift, he will offer it to him again, and also he gives it to Emily as well
Austin Hourigan Errrm, question. I doubt you'll reply but, at 12 minutes, when you are... ahem, destroying your virtual population with a simulated plague... When the amount of bubonic humans vs infected rats jumping onto humans peak, why would this mean that there would have to be another source of spread of the plague? As in, from what I can tell, the amount of infected humans would peak before the amount of dead rats losing fleas would peak. Unless I'm missing something... This detail doesn't matter much, as I see your point, but I'm a completionist at heart (or rather brain... I've never understood why the heart must be associated with feelings and personality so constantly... It's an organ that pumps a red fluid through vessels in a human body...).
Lets explain it with a simple example. Lets say a pyromaniac is burning houses. Each time a house burns, another pyromaniac joins the fray and they both burn a house each. This continues for a while. If you observe the situation from outside, you will see that with an increase in ammount of pyromaniacs the ammount of burned houses increases too, and the peak of burning houses will coincide with the peak of pyromaniacs,. That is, there cant be more burning houses than pyromaniacs, because each pyromaniac burns 1 house. But if that isn't the case, if the ammounts of houses burning is higher than the ammount of pyromaniacs (thus, the peak of burning houses is reached before the peak of pyromaniacs) it must mean there is something else spreading fires. Either some pyromaniacs do not follow the "1 house only" guideline, or the flames jump from one house to another. Point is, there must be a motive for it that does not belong to the original premise of "Pyromanicas burning 1 house".
doctors. a doctor treats your plague and washes his hands in a water basin, then treats another patient that has an open wound "oh here's some plague for you"
No, as far as I know those chambers were used to keep people alive that have a lung disease, that makes the lungs deflate until it's impossible to breathe. In them there was very low air pressure, so the air pressure in the lungs would be higher so they can stay open. I forgoz what the disease was called, but that's what they are. Btw life was pretty shit inside them. You couldn't move and they were loud af. The only reason to choose to be kept alive in them was the hope that you would be kept alive long enough for a cure to be found.
I want Skyrim : Bosmer ! How the fuck is it possible for a carnivorous Tribe bigger the any other mer tribe in nirn to even exist with out massive meat farms !!!!!????
Probably but there is no evidence of this in the lore as bosmer are not really known for magic use. The Bosmer are described as hunters and rangers so huge animal herds are hard to do for this tribe.

5:49 I think the first clue is directly in the name the word "plague" which is most commonly associated with the black death since it is believed septicemic, pneumonic and bubonic plague were the cause of the black death.
I have had the Plague--it was no fun, and I was in the hospital for three weeks with supermassive courses of antibiotics being pumped into me. But at least I'm alive.
In Dishonored 2 there is the Blood Fly's which are basically the rat's but their disease filled flying shit's that make their nest inside corpses. Explain on how that disease work's next, if you can good sir.
Blaize Cato it's not really a disease, but more of an infestation. They place eggs inside you which then go full chestburster on your ass and now you're a blood fly nest. After enough gather they build wasp like nests and hang around there, feeding off anyone that may be unlucky enough to find them.

What is the outsider mark? He grants people powers apparently out of boredom whenever he spots someone promising in a desperate situation. SPOILER: Imagine, that he first gave Delilah the mark, then she caused all the shit (out of revenge?) that resulted in the death of the Empress. Corvo receives the mark to exact revenge and then the young Empress gets it for the same reasons. At least 3 with a mark probably due to a single event in the past. What if they all owe the Outsider their soul now, and he was the driving force behind these events?
Well, according to lore first person out of the eight to receive the mark was Unknown Woman in 1803, then Vera Moray (aka Granny Rags) received the mark in 1807, 13 years later Daud got his toys and 11 years after him was Delilah. Outsider gifts the powers to people of his interest, so in my opinion as he is the god the world is his playground.
The Outsider is *spoiler* A boy who was forcibly ritually sacrificed to the Void 3 eons before the events of either of the Dishonored Games. Him apparently being the only one who didn't want to die, he gained godly powers of the nether realm itself. Being a human with god powers, he entertains himself by giving, like the OP said, people in desprate situations his mark. This lets those chosen wield various indistinct powers. Some worship him and the Void, some use it as a utility, and some want it but never gain it. It's even possible to steal a small amount of the Outsiders blessing by taking the mark off of the person (cutting of their hand). As for the cost that is often mentioned regarding the Outsiders blessing, that is likely a myth. The Outsider looks at those he has given his mark as friends, although they don't always act like this. Granny was driven mad by power, Delilah wanted revenge, Daud wanted a life for himself, Corvo wanted to save his family. The Outsider's image is both grim but also corrupted by the crazy people who think they know how to gain his blessing. Heck, most people think you gotta sacrifice people to get void powers, but it's shown that the only powers you get from that is evil. The Outsiders powers are drawn from nature. tl;dr: There isn't a perceptable cost from when the Outsider gives you his mark. The corruption that befalls those with it are simply those who choose to abuse it. Corvo, Daud, and Emily (in canon lore) use their powers to redeem themselves and grow stronger and wiser from it. The corruption, or price, from the Outsiders mark is simply human imperfection. But that's just a theory.
Austin I don't know if your gonna do movie science stuff but if you do I think it would be great if you did the Star Killer base exploding/collapsing from star wars the force awakens
Um buddy, sorry but there was a lot more then just rats, lice and fleas, spreading the plague, remember the city had to eat and i'm betting none of them were vegetarians.

Also the plague is not resistant to vaccines.
Well... We didnt know who the real responsible was at the times of the plague, maybe they just dont know about this yet?
Brian Halphin I think granny rags might be responsible for the plague.
Cosmic Banana Well, we know that the Spymaster imported the plague rats - but Granny Rags certainly wasn't helping anything.
Dr. Galvani and his academy friends are the real heroes. Yay.
don't you love science, and its great way of making you terrified to go outside or breath.
y-y-y-es
Oh I was always hating fresh air and nature. Science only strengthend my resolve.
Heh. Hehe. HAHAHAHAHAHA
You should do a no kill stealth play through in Dishonored it's pretty hard but so satisfying and as a bonus the game gets easier the less body's are found and because you technically weren't there. So they don't suspect someone to come and have less guards.
Shoddy Do the science on Winstons tesla gun, would it even work??
THE POWER OF SCIENCE :D
I actually wonder f it´d be possible.Hope Austin will see this !
Ian Bailey no, a gun that shoots pure electricity, that doesn't kill someone with a heart shot is bullshit
Rick Sauce genetics would answer that.
ヘイロークトゥルー No he's a relatively genius extra terrestrial ape
This video is much more relevant now..
Hey Austin, can you do the science behind preservatives in Prewar foods in Fallout?
yes yes please! :)
yes!
Yes please!!!!
Oh fuck I'm pumped for Dishonored 2 this weekend! I'm fucking shitting my pants right now
Preordered and preloaded... waiting for tomorrow :)
WallyWalrus hate to break it to ya buddy but that game isn't for 3-year-olds.
S.K. T. Aw! That sucks! I feel sorry for you dude! :)

Holy shit I proved him wrong five months ago and I haven't gotten a single like wtf
I downvoted just to be an ass
I really love The SCIENCE! series. keep it coming Austin! :D
I don't know if I can request something, but if I can, Austin! Dude! You need to do a video on Dark Souls's pine resins. This needs to happen!
I can never see sweet and sour chicken from Panda Express the same..... ever
15:12 that "Bleh-eh!" made me spit coffee on my desk. Damnit.

I hate to sound like a hipster but I love dishonored for a few years before it was popular
Twilight.cz You do know that it was popular and successful almost as soon as it came out, it's a Bethesda game like
Robert Cremin
yeah but now its like a crazy spike in popularity
1 Million Sub Hype!
Oh yea I forgot he also influenced both solokolav and Piero. Which vastly increased Dunwalls technology and weapons.
He didn't cause the rats and the people he gave powers to technically chose their paths
DarkPrject preach it's a amazing rpg
Superschokokeks I think you can. Sure they are different genres, but you can still compare overall enjoyment and immersion.
Superschokokeks Yeah, but it's why you'd rather want another thief like game, if you could want another Bloodlines like game.
7:54
Me reading books of Firenze during 1620: "Oh, now I see where you are going...."
I think the real villain is the speed at which Piero talks
Hello... corvo... I have... a gift... I just finished it..
Low Chaos is the only right way to play Dishonored.
Fuck no.
...because straight-up murder is too good for those assholes
Bumblebear is mad don't even want to remember... Took 30 hours to do ghost no powers... The pain...
rusttlemejimmmy you've earned the bragging rights, though
I found low chaos easier tbh
The real villain is Delilah Copperspoon. Period.
I'd say it was The Outsider. He knows everything that is happening and will happen. He gives everyone their powers and lets them commit as much anarchy as they want.
@@cartoonjoseph1624 as true as that is, he gives them the choice and tells them what will happen if those people accept those powers
Joseph The Producer nah, I don’t think outsider is that much of a dick, don’t forget, he also gave power to Corvo, even if Corvo “loses” his gift, he will offer it to him again, and also he gives it to Emily as well
@@aibartalgatuly3011 Offers not gives, but yeah essentially your right
TSAthirty well, I remember him offering the “gift” to Corvo, but I didn’t know that he also offers it to Emily, I thought he just gives it to Emily.
I love watching these, but sometimes they seem a little.. Austintatious.
God dammit Durandol.
I apologize for NOTHING!
Austin Hourigan
Errrm, question.
2:50 You freeze time yet you still walk into the bullet XD
0:30 I feel you. I picked up the game thinking it might be decent but came away blown away. I was not expecting a masterpiece.

Damn it Austin, you ruined my "GOD DAMN TERRIFYING" yell with your games
doctors. a doctor treats your plague and washes his hands in a water basin, then treats another patient that has an open wound "oh here's some plague for you"
15 years of pissing? By the Outsider, maybe you outta cut down on the whiskey and cigars?
"Blow off choffer"
A great miasma issued forth - nearly choked Austin!
4:36 WTF IS THIS!? IS THIS HOW CHILDREN ARE BORN!? xD

Summoning magic=limitless supply of daedric meat
Gotta love Leg of Clannfear
The Mongols were herders, maybe the Bosmer herd animals.
Probably but there is no evidence of this in the lore as bosmer are not really known for magic use. The Bosmer are described as hunters and rangers so huge animal herds are hard to do for this tribe.
Lero[Virus] True, especially with the huge jungles of valenwood.
So we are all clear austin has to make a video to unravel this mystery!!! XD
This guy definitely saw future. He was trying to warn us and stay safe.
"He unlaced his pantaloons and a great miasma issued forth from underneath his moist leather." Thanks bud.
Since nobody mentioned it... Anyone else doing something else while watching this video (in my case setting up my settings for minecraft in a modded world for use as a progressive survival map for myself), and at the bit where Austin says "the science of this is GOD. DAMN..." and everything stops, click back to the video to be sure that the video didn't freeze or something? :P
This is why I fucking love you Austin
What about a video on Plague Inc. ??? That would be sick!
Are you high?
Well you have to get up, come on, get down with the sickness.
What a pun
"Their universally adored Empress who totally wasn't boning her bodyguard"
Uh... You wanna rephrase that? I think Emily would exist a lot less if it was the Empress doing the boning...
I just wanted to let you know I've recently found your channel and without a doubt you are one of my favorite UA-camrs. The amount of effort you put in your videos is evident and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Thank you
omg you only just picked this game up recently?! D: haow?!

STOP.
5:49 I think the first clue is directly in the name the word "plague" which is most commonly associated with the black death since it is believed septicemic, pneumonic and bubonic plague were the cause of the black death.
As your resident metalhead, I can confirm that "Black Death" is a pretty sick metal name
DISHONORED BEST GAME EVER !
Mmm, un beau jack...
Oui c'est bien moi
You've forgotten one things, i killed Roland ... And the raven, i have forgot his name, whatever ...
( MY ENGLISH SUCKS ! )
I AGREE COMPLETELY
Covid-19 enters the chat.
Watching during the pandemic of 2020
Also, one more thing: In the eras most associated with the Black Death, inquisitors were obsessed with killing cats, things that love to kill rats.
I have had the Plague--it was no fun, and I was in the hospital for three weeks with supermassive courses of antibiotics being pumped into me. But at least I'm alive.
And here is the new villain in new dishonored thats coming out 2018 its the outsider
Dakota Smith Cool, we both know are shit. There's still something behind what we just said.
The CDC part fits with current events lmao
Fucking hell, watching this in the after times hits different
Sorry but it hurt inside at 2:50 where he paused time just as he was being shot at dodged it killed the guy who shot at you and walked right back into the dam bullet
Doesn't Dishonored 2 come out in 2 days?
Over It yep
What is the outsider mark? He grants people powers apparently out of boredom whenever he spots someone promising in a desperate situation. SPOILER:
Imagine, that he first gave Delilah the mark, then she caused all the shit (out of revenge?) that resulted in the death of the Empress. Corvo receives the mark to exact revenge and then the young Empress gets it for the same reasons. At least 3 with a mark probably due to a single event in the past. What if they all owe the Outsider their soul now, and he was the driving force behind these events?
Daud was first actually (out of main story characters) also Granny Rags had the powers.
*****
I thought Delilah came before Daud and before both it was Granny, who however wasn't involved in the story.
*****
If I would live for ever, but couldn't interact directly with it, I'd do it too, before I go mad from being forced to watch only.
The Outsider is *spoiler*
A boy who was forcibly ritually sacrificed to the Void 3 eons before the events of either of the Dishonored Games.
2:51 he slowed time and still walked into the bullet
Piero and Sokolov were making the cure for the plague to make those demi-zombies wheepers normal again
5:23 fucking killed me
Lord Dingles You mean the clip that ended right at 5:23?
Um buddy, sorry but there was a lot more then just rats, lice and fleas, spreading the plague, remember the city had to eat and i'm betting none of them were vegetarians.
Fair point....
Erik Cooper lets not forget, THEY EAT COOKED PLAUGE RATS!!! "hey dude remember the rats that spread the plauge? I have cooked one of them and they taste DELICIOUS!!!"
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
*great video. Autocorrect, am I right?
Jiggy L XD
I wonder why they haven`t added some cool-looking NPC characters with classic plague doctor masks in Dishonored, would fit perfectly to the rat and bloodflies infestation.
2:50
Well, technically, there was a man just like what you described in Japan. The lone ninja that attempted to assassinate Japan's emperor but ended up being dishonored (I'm not funny) and killed when the person he asked for shelter while he was on the run ended up turning him over to the emperor.
2:29 that aged like milk
