Hi Rachel! I love your reading journal! Don't forget to add Morrison's God Help the Child to your list. It was her last novel. Toni Morrison is my favorite author and the subject of my dissertation. If you ever need a fellow Morrison reader to talk with---let me know.
Love this! I teach high school English and taught The Bluest Eye- I know there was controversy at a local high school and of course a Mormon student found issue with it hahaha. I'll have to check out the Atlantic article! thanks for the recommendation
Really enjoyed this video. Congrats on finishing your PhD. Please let your young son handle physical books. A tear is ok and he will learn to love books.
Loved seeing this reading journal. This felt very manageable. I love the Sterling Ink notebooks, especially as the pages get filled. I noticed you mentioned being in DC and wanting a book club. I'd check the local independent bookstores, depending on where you are. I know Arlington's One More Pages has a couple of book clubs, but I assume others do too. Also check your library system.
I feel like we have very similar reading philosophies and interests. Spotted some of my favs highly rated and it always makes me so happy when ppl love the same books I do 🤗
@@rachelonpaper I hope you love it! I sobbed for hours and was book hung over for weeks 😭 I even knew the ending and still was not emotionally prepared. A bit worried I’ll never love another book again 😅
Very cool set up! My problem with reading notes is that I DNF so many dang books so it's annoying when I take pages and pages of notes and then suddenly lose interest in the book so I feel like I wasted my time. But if I don't take notes, I risk not having a clue what's going on in the book, so I have to take notes.
I have really enjoyed your reading journal videos. I have watched both of your Reading Journal setup videos and wondered why you switched from 8x8” Archer & Olive journal to a Sterling Ink journal for your book journal.
Thanks! I switched because I spilled coffee on the 8x8 A&O journal (It only stained the cover, but I hated looking at it.) I used the Sterling Ink notebook because I had it lying around and lots of A5 covers I can use.
As I have said before, your writing is perfection! Always look forward to a video from you. We have similar reading tastes when it comes to non-fiction books. Have you read Women, Race and Class by Angela Davis? Very good.
I'm always so excited to see someone's minimal reading journal that's still functional and fun! Love your take on it ❤
thank you!!
