Hi team! 💜 This video took a hot minute to make, so I very much hope you find it helpful! 😄 If you did get value from it though, make sure to "like" the video so UA-cam makes sure you see more of my reading journal content 👌 A cheeky sub never goes amiss too 😉 haha 😛
I'd like this actually, maybe just lowkey ways to track what you've read and when. I'm very much so a mood reader, so I never can predict what the next book will be. I tend to just write on my weeklies "read *insert books here as I read them*" along the margins
Have you checked out Levar Burton reads podcast? He reads short stories and OMG he's amazing narrating them! I get so sucked into listening and have found authors I enjoyed that I went back to look up longer novels by them.
OOOOH this so much this! I can't tell ya how many times I forgot to PREVIEW that and immediately got a refund from Audible. HARD NO! I did make it through one recommended by my bestie but I swear the woman sounded like she was about to say, "but wait, there's more...." It was so sales-pitchy. Zero warmth and I just couldn't wait for the book to be over. So going to add this to mine! You rock
I consider myself to be more of a mood reader, but I like to have a list of things to pull from. Essentially rather than a "TBR" it functions more of a "I thought this looked cool at some point" list 😝
@JashiiCorrin i might need to join that mindset. My kindle unlimited queue keeps getting filled, and I keep having to bump a book for a new one 🤣 I'm hitting 2025 reading journal hard. Just letting the rest of this year finish up in the chaos it usually does.
A lot of library patrons also track what books they check out and the due dates. It can also help to track when you return books in case there is any mix up at the library!
I wrote down 28 to add to my media journal setup under the book section. 😌Some will also work for the webcomics, but there's a very different way I need to track those, as I'll go through 40-130 of their "chapters" a day. Similar to my viewing and music tracking. Thank you for all your efforts putting these videos together for us! 😍💜🤯
Amazing. I already have my own way of approaching a reading journal, but as a content creator I had to give you like & comment because I know the amount of effort that must have gone into putting this together. 👏🏼😊
I agree about the book bracket and since most do it a book per month, it's extra hard when you have the dud months or months where you read multiple amazing books. Love this video!!
Exactly! Some very worthy books don’t even get to see the light of the bracket because something in the month was better, and then other books who really shouldn’t be there slip in because they were the best of a “bad bunch” 😝 glad you enjoyed the video! 💜
Wow! Lots of ideas for my 2025 reading journal! Thank you for taking the time to make this kind of videos. I’m always really inspired by you and next year I’m going to start a bullet jounal with a lot of layouts and ideas from your videos! Thank you🫶🏼
Since you asked, my favorite bookish content creator is BooksandLala (her vlogs are so creative), but for recs I watch ravenhairedreader, Ellen Catherine, chandler ainsley, Mel reads, Riley Marie, and throne of pages 😊
My TBR is so large that I don't even look at it anymore. Every time I turn around there are new books, and every once in a while I grab a book that is also on my TBR, but that seems to be getting rarer and rarer. I do have an ARC log, and a small TBR in my journal of books I am looking forward to in the new year. Only about 10% of those got read this year because I am one of those who finds a series and then reads every single book in the series and usually if I really enjoyed it then I read everything by that author. Hence why my TBR list doesn't usually get looked at. :)
I love your reading related collage page and the text you artistically put into it. It got a laugh out of me.😆 I'm thinking about trying the Read the Rainbow and Tropes challenges next year. Not sure yet if I will, but it'd be fun to do a challenge other than the bingo that I like including in my reading journal. Either way, thank you for making this video. It's full of so many useful ideas! 💜
Ooh love this, so many ideas! This has been my first year with a dedicated reading journal and I've had such fun with it, already started planning 2025. I use some of these spreads already but there's definitely some that are new to me, I've made notes! Also on team 'I hate book brackets' I dont understand why everything has to be a competition 😅 To be fair, I do understand why people use them, I just hate rating things, I find it stressful like I'm going to be marked on how well I rate things, which I know is unhinged 😂
I am a wizard 🪄and also a member of the "Book Brackets are Dumb" club 😁 I'm definitely going to try the Ranking Matrix this year. That makes more sense to me. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for sharing this video! And I totally agree with you on brackets, it’s not really a correct rating system to me. Loved that rating matrix you used, I’ll definitely keep that one in mind. ☺️💕
47:05 I applied this to my reading journal when I saw you do it cause this makes more sense for me. With the bracketing, I couldn't find a way to fairly place the books in the bracket
Yeah I prefer the matrix much more 😝 I’ve used it in my journal this year and I’m looking forward to figuring out what the top 10 of the year are in order rather than just the top 1 👏
I immediately paused the video, because I recognised the series in "read their catalogue". Had to look up the english titel because I read some of those in dutch. The name of the serie is goosebumps. Love it as a kid. 😆
I loved this so much!!!! I started a reading journal a couple of years ago but quickly fell out of love with it but I’m definitely picking it back up as I’ve gotten several fresh ideas now. Thank you so much ☺️!
Guuurrrrrllll this is SO GOOD! Great job getting all these spreads done, they are great and I've definitely picked up some inspo in here. Also thanks for the shout out hehe 🥰
Seeing my favorite UA-camrs (like you) mention my other favorite UA-camrs (like Heart Breathings/Sarra Cannon) fills my heart with a silly, happy, warm feeling. 💖💖
the "read their catalogue" section is something I haven't done before but I'm planning on including in my 2025 reading journal. I'm gonna have it for Ruby Dixon, Darcy Coates, Brandon Sanderson, and Terry Pratchett. they've all got such huge backlists that I need a place to keep track of what I have and haven't read yet.
Totally worth having that reference for widely written authors, yeah 👏 if I had a reading journal in middle school, my tracker would have been for RL Stine 😝
Okay! I have a pen and paper ready to see what else I can add to my 2025 reading journal lineup ideas. Thanks for doing so much hard work here to inspire us all! The read rating trolley is ADORABLE!
I bought an A&O bujo specifically for a reading journal I'll start in 2025 and have been doing all kinds of research so this is perfect!! Thank you for all of the information!
Thanks Jess, there's so much in this video that I want to include in my next reading journal. I'm going to save this video and use it as future reference. :)
I paused and did a double take when I saw Monster Blood and Welcome to Camp Nightmare 😂 goosebumps were a staple of my childhood! I especially love the sparkly choose your own adventure ones 😂👏🏻
I've watched this through twice. Promptly went to my local craft store with the belief I can do this too! Question - where do you find the monthly reading challenges (@34:31 in the video)? Thanks for your amazing content and great ideas
Glad the video was helpful for you! 💜 I normally find the reading challenges through UA-cam videos, from friend recommendations, or similar. We have a Reading Challenges section in our Discord community that people can post links and information to which is helpful too 😄
Haha yeah I initially just printed out all the little covers in a whatevertheheck order, but then wanted them to look nice on the page 😝 lucky I had a good range of colours 👌
I got these ones from this website: bookclubs.com/blog/ultimate-list-of-book-club-discussion-questions They have them broken down into different sections based on the genre of the book which is pretty helpful! 😊
Another point for the matrix vs the book bracket- you can use all the books you enjoyed in a year, and none of the books you didn’t (if you had a bad reading month, why should one of those books be included? And if two of your favourites for the whole year were in the same month, why should the second best book of the year not even make it onto the board?). As long as you have enough squares height/width wise, or are willing to do it in a program and print and stick instead, go wild and include all the best books and none of the ones you wish you could forget
I don't usually leave comments but I always love watching your videos, and keep wanting to use the ideas you share, however I have severe hand tremors and my handwriting is really bad so I end up feeling discouraged when I try to replicate the idea for my own journal and it looks sad and illegible. Regardless, that won't stop me from enjoying your videos!! I loved the 'non-fiction topics to explore' section, as someone who almost exclusively reads non-fiction for school and self-learning, it's something I really want to try.
Thanks for leaving a comment, it's really appreciated! 💜If it helps, I've been enjoying doing headers using the type-print-stick method 😝 Great for lettering styles that we realistically can't do ourselves, or would take too much time/effort/energy to do neatly. Might be a good trick for you too 😊
I second the suggestion for typing and then printing it out... are you able to use something like Canva to create your pretty backgrounds, then add your typing/talk to text before printing? You don't even have to print, but it's nice to have something physically in hand to go through later in life (Days, months, years. Just... later.).
@@cvvzdesigns I will certainly look into it, I don't have a personal printer, but my school does, I'm sure I can make a batch of pages and headers for the coming month or however long and then print it and bring it home. I'm so excited now, you have no idea, I'm going to look and see what websites there are that can help make pretty designs, I know Canva is one. Oh my goodness, thank you both for the suggestions, I was so nervous putting a comment because I was unsure if it would be taken as rude or if people would be unwelcoming or unkind. Thank you so much!!!!
i have tried to keep a reading journal, but i read too much. i would get behind on journaling and not catch back up. i really wished i had the patience to do a real book journal like this.... but i don't. for the most part, i don't see a book and think "have i read that before?" but " i have read this same plot line in 5 other books..." if i love a book/author enough, they will be on my trophy book case
I totally understand why you don‘t like the book bracket, but you could sue it as a challenge instead, so at the beginning of the year, month or quarter, whatever time period suits you, you could pick out 12 books from your TBR and randomly pit them against each other and do a number of book battles across that time period. Hmmm, I think I am actually going to do that myself next year!
This one is from Archer & Olive 😊 I call the notebook my “R&D journal” for research and development because the layouts I set up in it are just examples 👌
Haha 😂 I'm Australian, but I've lived in New Zealand for the last 16 or so years, aaaand I pick up other people's accents (or poor imitations of) really easily, so mine's a little bit of a mixed bag 😅
I was unable to read all of the questions on the review questions list. One of my first questions regarding music, videos, or books, is would I re-consume this content? There are some stores I redo every year. As we are approaching October I will list those, "Something wicked this way comes", "The Halloween tree"(book and movie), and The Poe collection. First question, would I do this Again? Christina 🦝 P.S. What is a Trope? I never heard this word until today, and Webster's definition left it less than clear.
A trope is something that happens time and time again in stories. Something like “oh no, there’s only one bed at the inn and now our reluctant main characters have to share a bed”, or the main couple getting annoyed at each other / breaking up because they didn’t communicate clearly / at all. It’s like a common plot device 😛 something you find in lots of different books/movies/etc
Hi team! 💜 This video took a hot minute to make, so I very much hope you find it helpful! 😄 If you did get value from it though, make sure to "like" the video so UA-cam makes sure you see more of my reading journal content 👌 A cheeky sub never goes amiss too 😉 haha 😛
I needed it so much! Thank you! So helpfull
Thanks so much Jess. I’m just about to start a reading journal. This will be so helpful. You are a gem. 💎 Thank you
really well made!! thank you so much for providing this content! 🥺
I’ve discovered a reading journal just isn’t for me, I can’t seem to keep up with it. But boy do I love looking at them!
Glad you enjoy looking at them at least 😄💜 could always bring some of the ideas into your regular journal too if they spark your interest 👌
I'd like this actually, maybe just lowkey ways to track what you've read and when. I'm very much so a mood reader, so I never can predict what the next book will be. I tend to just write on my weeklies "read *insert books here as I read them*" along the margins
You can get them preprinted check. Little Inklngs
@@lesap8889 I saw that one recently and am seriously considering it! Thanks for sharing
Book rating 0 being “Brother uuuggghh” had me rolling 😂
Haha 😂 glad you liked that one
Along side "favorite authors", I'd add "favorite narrators". Because I've picked up audiobooks based solely on who narrates it.
That is a fantastic idea and will definitely be doing that one too!
Me too!!!
Great idea! 💪💜
Have you checked out Levar Burton reads podcast? He reads short stories and OMG he's amazing narrating them! I get so sucked into listening and have found authors I enjoyed that I went back to look up longer novels by them.

Glad it gave you some inspiration! 😄💜
I can’t believe you did this. It must have taken forever. Thank you 🙏
Certainly took a hot minute 😝 Most welcome! 💜
I love your purple flower theme for your journal! Where can I get the stamps and stickers?
Me: a mood reader, this is neat. Shame I will start and never fill out a single page 😂 so jealous of those who can keep up with a reading journal
I consider myself to be more of a mood reader, but I like to have a list of things to pull from. Essentially rather than a "TBR" it functions more of a "I thought this looked cool at some point" list 😝

Good idea 👌 and I know people who have extensive book collections themselves keep a log of who they’ve borrowed books to as well 😄💜
This truly is a labor of love! It’s so very helpful. Thank you!
Most welcome! 😄💜 Glad it was helpful!
Bahahaha I’m a wizard. That was amazing. I had to watch this video twice. You’re so thorough. And I wish I had your writing. Must practice.

the read rating trolley idea is adorable!!
Such a cool idea! Appreciated that I found it like a day before I started making the layouts 😝💪

Same here! Taking a few gems because its all so overwhelming.
Glad it was timely for you! 😄💜
The list of books - they are from the Goosebumps series!!! ❤ 🎉
Haha yup! 😄💜

This list was amazing. I can't believe you did this all just for a video. Thanks for the content, I will be using some of these for sure!!
Most welcome! 😄💜 glad the efforts are paying off for people 💪
The washi tape was GENIUS!
So many amazing ideas on here. Xx
Glad you liked them! 💜🥳

Glad you liked it! 😄💜 hope the ideas prove useful for you 💪
I love the tournament page, might have to steal that idea 😊😊
Glad you liked it! 😄💜
Seeing my favorite UA-camrs (like you) mention my other favorite UA-camrs (like Heart Breathings/Sarra Cannon) fills my heart with a silly, happy, warm feeling. 💖💖
N'awww 🥰 Sarra is a good egg 👏💜
🎉❤
Loved it, plant based bride is another good one for recs
She's a popular one, yeah! 😄
Wow Jess! Thank you so much for all the work you've put into this! This is amazing!

Okay! I have a pen and paper ready to see what else I can add to my 2025 reading journal lineup ideas. Thanks for doing so much hard work here to inspire us all! The read rating trolley is ADORABLE!
Most welcome! Figured getting the video out before people get too into the throes of setting up for the new year was a good idea 😝👌
oh my what a collection of wonderful ideas - thank you for an amazing flip through
Most welcome! 😄💜
I bought an A&O bujo specifically for a reading journal I'll start in 2025 and have been doing all kinds of research so this is perfect!! Thank you for all of the information!
Most welcome! 💜 always appreciate having a lot of ideas in one place 😝
This is such an awesome video, definitely helped my planning for next year's reading journal!
Glad it was useful! 😄💜

Thanks Jess, there's so much in this video that I want to include in my next reading journal. I'm going to save this video and use it as future reference. :)
Most welcome! 💜 I hope it can serve as a reference for people to come back to over time 😄
I paused and did a double take when I saw Monster Blood and Welcome to Camp Nightmare 😂 goosebumps were a staple of my childhood! I especially love the sparkly choose your own adventure ones 😂👏🏻
Those were great! I always wanted to see every possible storyline option 😂
A reading retreat sounds amazing. But I would need a babysitter or two.
Yeah certainly the kind of thing that needs pre-planning 😛 💜
Lots of great ideas!
Hope they prove useful for you! 😄💜
55:21 I love this I put this on my reading journal
Glad you liked it! 😄💜
Wait..this is perfect because I just got my first Archer and Olive notebook for a book journal 😊

For growing series you could do a Dutch door!
True 👏 Just add it with a tip-in if needed 😊
Goosebumps!
Heck yeah! 💪

What a great video! Thamks!
Most welcome! 😄💜
I love this!
Glad you liked it! 😄💜
Hi! I was wondering if you could possible put the reading review questions in the resource library for me please? no worries if not!
I got these ones from this website: bookclubs.com/blog/ultimate-list-of-book-club-discussion-questions
They have them broken down into different sections based on the genre of the book which is pretty helpful! 😊
Some great ideas that i’ll definitely try. Where did you get the book, audio book and e-reader stamps from?
That one’s a reading stamp set from Torey Ramos on Etsy 👌 linked in the description box 😄💜
Another point for the matrix vs the book bracket- you can use all the books you enjoyed in a year, and none of the books you didn’t (if you had a bad reading month, why should one of those books be included? Exactly 👏 no compromises 😈
I like doing the book bracket, but I use the top 16 books of the year rather than the best book from each month
That’s a better way to do it I feel 👏
I don't usually leave comments but I always love watching your videos, and keep wanting to use the ideas you share, however I have severe hand tremors and my handwriting is really bad so I end up feeling discouraged when I try to replicate the idea for my own journal and it looks sad and illegible. Heck yeah 😈
i like the goosebumps list lol i was going to look them up then i seen say cheese an die an was like i know that short story.
Haha it's cool to see which titles in particular give it away for people 😛💜
" can you tell I cant collage?" - I snorted xD
😂 glad you liked that one 💜
Are you selling this R&D journal or would you consider it? I am so enamored by this 😅 I would legit buy it as a reference guide.
Glad you think it'd be helpful to have! 💜 I don't have any plans to sell this one, but mayhaps one day I'll make a buyable reference book 😝
@JashiiCorrin I would buy it!
LOL Hockey Romance! Do you also listen to No Such Things As A Fish?
Haven't heard of it, sorry! 💜
Just in time as I set up a new reading journal 🤣😂
Perfect timing 🥳
A little shoutout to Steve from the map 😍
We love Steve 👌

@@JashiiCorrin fab will order now thank you
i have tried to keep a reading journal, but i read too much. i would get behind on journaling and not catch back up. i really wished i had the patience to do a real book journal like this.... but i don't. for the most part, i don't see a book and think "have i read that before?" but " i have read this same plot line in 5 other books..." if i love a book/author enough, they will be on my trophy book case
i am finding ideas for my book journal 2025 Thanks for video
Most welcome! Hope the ideas here prove useful for you 💪💜
@JashiiCorrin yes it's wonderful
I am waiting my notebook and start decorating
I totally understand why you don‘t like the book bracket, but you could sue it as a challenge instead, so at the beginning of the year, month or quarter, whatever time period suits you, you could pick out 12 books from your TBR and randomly pit them against each other and do a number of book battles across that time period. Hmmm, I think I am actually going to do that myself next year!
Sounds like a fun way to do it 😄💜 I’d prefer that to the “top of the month” business 😝
what is the journal called?
This one is from Archer & Olive 😊 I call the notebook my “R&D journal” for research and development because the layouts I set up in it are just examples 👌

The journal is amazing. But what is your accent!??!!! I hear Australian then Irish then American then ??????
Haha 😂 I'm Australian, but I've lived in New Zealand for the last 16 or so years, aaaand I pick up other people's accents (or poor imitations of) really easily, so mine's a little bit of a mixed bag 😅
@@JashiiCorrin it’s so unique - love it!!
@@JashiiCorrin Thank you. You are a wonderful teacher. I enjoy learning from you and with you. 🦝
