    Marek Edelman survived the war and became a doctor (a fine cardiologist) in Communist Poland, a democratic opposition activist, and later a renowned public figure in free post-1989 Poland. He passed away on October 2, 2009, aged 90.

      He was a Lodzer and lived in that city after the war. There’s an education centre in the old ghetto area named after him as well as various murals.

      And he stayed a Bundist to the end!
      He maintained a consistent anti-Zionist position, never agreeing with the Israeli government’s position that they were the sole bearers of the memory and legacy of the Ghetto fighters. As well as being a passionate dissident against the Communist government in Poland, he always stood for the Palestinians’ national rights and their right of return. The Israeli government always refused to acknowledge the major part Edelman and the Bundists played in the Ghetto uprising and did not send anyone to his funeral.

    Thank you for the 3 parts on the uprising.
    My great grandfather's brother Mendel Oppenheim (72 years old at the time) built a bunker as a preparation to the uprising, where he was hiding with his sister Anna Oppenheim (aged 58), his daughters Judith Oppenheim (aged 33) and Malka Hoffman (aged 45) and her family - husband Gershon and two daughters Hava (aged 20) and Ida (aged 25) , also Mendel's son Fred Oppenheim (aged 43) with his wife Rachel (aged 38) with two children a boy and a girl aged 7 and 9. The bunker was discovered by the Germans in the first few days of the uprising, all of the family was dragged out, put against a wall and shot. I have an eye witness report. For many people this is not history, but a leaving pain. May their souls rest in peace, their blood revenged!!!!

    The guy one the very right side of the photo on 8:58 is also well known.
    Its Josef Blösche who hid in the GDR until the late 1960s, when his identity was finally revealed

    Professor Felton, I am sorry, but an episode of War Against Humanity came out today and I just don't know if I can take being harrowed even if just for just another 11 minutes ;-; I will have to watch this in the evening. My love to you and yours dear sir, and my thanks for all the effort you put into this beautiful and sometimes grueling body of work you have amassed. I truly appreciate your every word.

    You said many Germans involved in crushing the uprising were able to reintegrate into society after the war! One of the worst came the next summer during the Warsaw uprising, which i'm sure you'll get to, was Heinz Reinefarth! How he managed to not get prosecuted... or assassinated is beyond me!

    Dr. Mark Felton, have described the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising with more and better details than anyone else. Even better than all other historians together!
    Thank you so much for your dedication to what you are doing.
    My gratitude towards you comes from my heart and I hope that the universe will keep helping and support you, to keep telling us these very important & needed documentaries🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏!

      So wrong... there are many historical books describing this shooting in the ghetto in much more detail than Mark had time to do during one hour of UA-cam video...

    • @Asger21
      @Asger21 3 роки тому

      @@KrissowskiM Right, I got that.
      Obviously, one will get more details from a book but who are reading books on UA-cam?
      Anyway, please suggest me the best and most truthful book to read on from the Ghetto Uprising.

    • @KrissowskiM
      @KrissowskiM 3 роки тому

      @@Asger21 why not start with the source? Go for Moczarski’s ‘Conversations with Executioner’.
      Moczarski was the Polish Home Army insurgent who was put by the commies in prison with Stroop and listened to him for nine months - he wrote the book when he was pardoned from his death sentence in the fifties when Stalin died.

    To us the viewers war is fascinating, but it, to it's victims it is a low for mankind, a madness that should be avoided.
    I hope that Marks videos get this point across too all
    A big thank you to Mark for informing and educating us.
