@@timeandnourishment1961 I know I was breakin’ balls! I think Dr. Felton realizes this! 🤦♂️
I can’t wait for the next instalment. Thank you for your work, as always, Dr. Felton.
Very good 👍
Can't wait for the second part
Great work Mark. Its a pleasure to learn from your documentaries.
An excellent publication ... as always! I have watched many of your documentary styled videos. They are, not only extremely interesting, but also presented so well. I look forward to part 2!
Thoroughly gripping, I very much anticipate the conclusion.
Great episode Dr Felton
Greetings from Suffolk! Were neighbors
I cannot wait for the next installment of this story!
A wonderful piece of WWII history, thank you Mark!
Terrible, frighful, horrifying might be more suitable descriptions. Imagine the horrible lives these prisoners had to endure and their desperation running across a minefield, under fire, to attempt to wrest back their freedom.
Thank you for your efforts and time in showing this
A classic Mark Felton production absolutely brilliant !
Thank you Professor Felton! ❤
Superb channel you have here Mark, thank you !
It feels so wrong to like this video as there is absolutely nothing to like about the history of Sobibor and the things that happened there.
However I must like the video and comment on it as it is imperative that this history and its lessons are never forgotten by the current young generation and the younger generations to come.
Thank you Mark, an excellent video once again. Have you perchance had the opportunity to look at a book titled "Fotos aus Sobibor"?
You can like the heroic uprising
Thomas Blatt came to my high school to tell his story. Will never forget that!
So you met one of the few survivors of Sobibor. That is very interesting. What was it like seeing him?
I’m a history fanatic because of the type of work I’m in and I was raised by war vets. Is anyone else binging on historical documentaries because of what Is going on domestically and world wide? Aren’t the parallels between the 1930s and now crazy?
Saw the movie as a very young kid, took me a long time to get it out of my mind.
Great job Dr. Felton....as always.
You present a very knowledgeable documentary. Thank you!
Always informative and educational, thank you.
Thank you for yet another of what seems like an endless account of fascinating WW2 stories. This is storytelling at its finest. p.s. Anyone interested in Mark's work should check out Erik Larson, if they haven't done so already. He's a historian who writes non-fiction from the WW2 era that is so gripping it feels as though you're reading a novel.
ARGHHH! Cliff hanger, lol. I’m sooo anxious to hear part 2! 😃
I love this channel, please don't ever stop making these
You and Dan Carlin are like opium to my ears.
"Thanks. I don't smoke."
Neimand is apparently capable of teleportation, the way he dismounted and flew into that trailer shop for a look around.
Fantastic story so far! Would love to hear more like these
Thank you for doing this subject Dr. Felton! The only thing I knew about this was the movie from the 80s and I'm sure it was "Hollywoodized".
I express my greatest thanks to the man who helped to pull this off, Alexander "Sasha" Perchezsky (I have no idea how to spell his last name. If someone does know, please let me know). Without him, much of what we know about the Sobibor Revolt would've been lost to time and the people who escaped the camp and survived the war wouldn't be able to tell their stories. God bless him and all those who survived!!!!!!!!
Thomas Blatt was 15 when he took part in the preparations for and the execution of the uprising on October 14, 1943 in the Sobibor death camp - and survived. In his book "Nur die Schatten bleiben" (Only the Shadows Remain), written 40 years later, one learns at close quarters and in a nerve-racking way what everyday life was like there for the working slaves who faced the gas mass murder on a daily basis - and how the meticulously planned uprising was able to succeed...

In Russian, his name is Александр Аронович Печерский (Alexander Aronovich Pechersky). He lived in Rostov-on-Don after the war. He died there in 1990 at the age of 80. In my country, everyone remembers this, because in my country there is not a single family in which there are no victims of that war. We lost 27 million people then.
I wish you health, peace and goodness!
Thank you for correcting me! I'm American and I had no idea how to spell his last name for the life of me! I wish the same for you as well! :)@@Pupkin631
Thank you for sharing this story.
Can't get enough of WW2 history! So interesting!
Your description of Niemann's assassination is a little different from that given by his assassin.
Superb, as usual. Bravo!
The Anthology of Heroes podcast actually interviewed some of the survivors awhile back when they were still living.
Thank you in advance for your efforts Mark.
''Right you lot: lights out and back into your bunks - and keep it down, we don't want Gerry sniffin' around.'' From the corner of the hut: ''it ain't 'alf hot mom''. ''Shut yer face and blacken that window. Right then Binty, get that projection thing started. So what's this called...? Escape from Sobibor...No you can't 'ave any more bleedin' cocoa''.
hlk
Yeah. The BBC produced comedy series about 1) the potential invasion and enslavement of Britain (Dad's Army) 2) the end of Empire in India (It Ain't Half Hot, Mum, with a blacked-up white actor) and 3) one of the most brutal partisan wars in European history ('Allo, 'Allo!). And I love all of them, even though they are clearly repugnant to a modern audience.
I was about to sleep, guess I will stay up
on the edge of my seat for episode 2!!
