I grew up without Grandparents in my life so videos like this are very comforting... Especially living at 27 trying to make it on my own. Thank you for this :)
Looks very delicious DO you use chicken broth for the dumpings?? No water with it? You take the chicken out the pot? I made some chicken and dumping that was ok my meat got stringing
I am SO glad UA-cam recommended this video for me and I found you! Your home, your voice, your presence, your content - all absolutely comforting, like a big old fashioned, warm hug. I love your light! It shines through the screen! Thanks for making these videos! I have a feeling many people feel the same. God bless!
My mama made hers like your mama but I make mine like you Youre the sweetest and most precious soul dearly love you. I am from Kentucky and would not trade where and how I was raised for nothing in the world I was so blessed.
Hello Pat. I can’t call you Granny. I’m 83, you 87. You are like a beloved sister. I’m taking your hint about protecting the frig., as mine is right next to stove. You just described my favorite kitchen. The Hoosier cabinet must be beautiful. It would be great if your daughter would take a picture of it and show on one of your videos.❤ I use stale hot dogs buns mixed in with the breads and I toast them. Makes them not gummy. I cook my greens in chicken broth. What a wonderful day spent with you. God bless and know that you are loved.
I respect you ladies, I am 20 years behind you and still love to cook homemade from scratch. I wonder how many generations will still cook the old recipes?
Thank you for this recipe Grandma Pat. I’ve never made it before and certainly am going to do this for Thanksgiving. Since my wife died, I’ve been learning how to cook things for my daughter and I and since I’m 41 I feel bad I never learned how to cook much things. Always love seeing, hearing, and learning from you..
Brian, I’m not the expert. It’s a new experience each time I walk in the kitchen. Make a list of the main dishes you like. Practice them until they agree with your taste buds. Pick up a few major spices - onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, basil, and of course, salt and pepper. Spices are getting very expensive. Add one at a time. Cinnanon, for instance. Check recipes on the internet. Start with the simple ones. Good luck.
Consider an Air Fryer and Instant Pot. My 20 year old grandson at college cooks all his meals in an Air Fryer.Would be so easy for you to make a meal in 50 minutes and less! Less time and so easy Book comes with.
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900Such good advice, that's exactly how I learned to cook. Kept a notebook with all my little trial & error notes until I got my favorite dishes just right 😊
you remind me so much of my nana who passed away when I was 18....the only person in the world who loved me without conditions or restraints. you give comfort to so many of us, thank you.
CHICKEN ,N DUMPLINGS: Let me add this: I took the remainder of the canned biscuits and cut each one into six pieces ..I DID NOT roll them out flat. Instead, I dropped the pieces into the boiling broth and let them simmer about 15 minutes. They were light and fluffy. Try this method for an easy dumpling recipe.
I was just coming here to comment the same. Let the canned biscuits sit out to rise for about 15 -20 minutes before cutting and putting them in the boiling broth. Love this recipe never thought about having them for thanksgiving but I think I’m going to do that this year!
Pat this was wonderful to listen to while eating dinner in my little studio apartment. My grandma passed at 99 years old this year and watching you reminded me of just all the fun, joy and comfort she gave me over the years. Glad to hear you have family to spend the holidays with. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and recipes with us here on the internet. Much love!
Love all your Jadeite glassware- it’s beautiful! 🤩 I can also hear the slow ticking of the clock movement in the background. I’ve looked for years for a clock that ticks like that- haven’t found one yet. The sound of it is so peaceful.
I love this. We can learn so much from our elders. She’s so warm and caring, you can tell.. I needed this video today. And I’m staying subscribed because I need another online grandma ❤️🥲
I remember rolling out dough with my Grandma 60 years ago in her little kitchen. The Amazing thing is she was completely blind and did all her cooking and taught me everything I know. You brought back so many memories this evening. Thank You and God Bless You💗
You made me laugh, my Mother couldn't make drop dumplings for nothin'. She tried every which way. She didn't have the cookie gene either, but oh my pies, cakes, gravy to die for.
You are sooo lovely!! I have the opposite, suffer with summer sad, the gray, rainy cold day energizes me and chicken n dumplins hits the spot!! Thank you❤
She is such a doll. And I can't get over all the Jadeite in that kitchen! That's when you know there's some good cooking to be had. Salt and pepper tastes just a little bit better, knowing they were dispensed out of a Jadeite shaker over any other kind! I loved it when she was talking about the Kalamazoo stove, and said, "It doesn't mean I'd be using it, but I'd like to have it just to look at." That gave me quite the chuckle. I love dumplings... so much, in fact, that I almost ate my laptop while watching! I think I'm going to wind up making some mushroom risotto for my family gathering. Everybody else brings all the "classics," so I'll probably bring something that only I'll enjoy.
I have no clue why youtube recommended this to me but I am so glad it did, reminds me of when id stand on a stool next to my grandma to watch her cook as a kid :')
REGARDLESS of WINDOWS, YOU BRING THE SUNSHINE TO ALL OF OUR LIVES!!! JUST FOUND YOUR CHANNEL! I ❤️ YOUR CHANNEL! I PLAN A BIG "TO DO" EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE!
I have made a lot of dumplings with biscuits are usually just use the smaller canned biscuits and I just break them up and throw them in the chicken stock with the chicken. I know it is great!
My mama always made big fluffy dumplings, so that is what I love. Bisquick is great for those kind of dumplings. So easy and so good. Make the dough with the bisquick and a little milk or heavy whipping cream and drop by spoon full into the broth. They puff right up and are so soft and good. Try that recipe sometime.
I'm with you Granny. I've never had an oyster in my mouth and don't ever plan on it! LOL! Your chicken and dumplings looks easy enough I could make it!
i lost three of my grandmothers who raised me (my dad's mom, my mom's mom, and my paternal grandpa's mom) all within a year of each other over a decade ago now-two of them within 3 weeks of one another. watching this made me think of them, especially my dad's mom. i miss hearing her talk story as she cooked. this was so comforting. thank you for this wonderful cooking video, i'm on my way to make chicken n' dumplings soon!

I happened to randomly stumble onto this video, but I'm really glad I did. I've been struggling these past few years and even though I will still struggle, it's nice that for 40 minutes of my day today, it was spent watching and listening to you cook. Honestly, it has given me some relief
My grandmother just passed away about 2 weeks ago. It’s my birthday in a couple of days and I miss her dearly. She never missed saying happy birthday to me. This will be the first year I don’t hear it. Anyways… She also loved to cook and bake and she’d bring multiple dishes to events like thanksgiving too. Thank you for bringing back great memories from the times I spent with her. 😢

If all the angry people in the world would listen to your voice and the ticking clock most of the conflicts would be solved. So warm and soothing 😊.
This is exactly the Kind of thing angry people don't want to listen to because it would be like someone telling a pissed off person to calm down.
The world has different preferences they will find happiness elsewhere if they do not like. America is not the center of the world so let them live
The conflicts of the world arent fueled by hatred and anger, like they want you to think they're fueled by greed. Politicians profit off of war.
@@damien1781the hell are you even talking about? Why is America always on your mind? Lives rent free.
