  • With some power outages a few weeks ago, I found out that the backup power supply on my server was no longer working and while the backup power supply on my computer worked, it has been beeping randomly since the power outage. Decided to replace both unit with new Tripp Lite UPSs.

    been using mine for many years now and it is finally in need of new batteries. less than $50 and she will be good as new again for many more years of service. have 3 ups in my room. a 1500, a 1000 and a 700.

      Exactly! Most people don't realize you can just replace the batteries in these!

    I've had the same model installed powering my 40 channel DVR/Power supplies/Monitor/Switches for 5+ years. Our power grid is very unstable, and are without power twice a month at least. today i finally swapped it out for the exact same model because the batteries failed. i'll replace the batteries on this for another application. good product.

    I have a pair of the SMART1500LCDT backups as well. I've had them for 6 years and one finally died. Ordered the replacement batteries (set of 2) from Amazon so hopefully I can get a few more years out of it. One word of caution, placing them on a flammable surface like a carpet isn't a very good idea because for whatever reason, the bottom of the units get hot during use.

    Im using this same system for my reef tank. Should i plug in my pump to battery back up or surg protected outlet?

    • @radozeman
      @radozeman  5 років тому +1

      Battery backup, the surge ones are not battery back up!

      How long would it run an aquarium?

    • @marcusburnett890
      @marcusburnett890 3 роки тому

      I also run my reef tank on this and it’s been GREAT for about 4 years but it finally stopped working. Do you know how many batteries are in this? The listing on Amazon says (2) and I found them for fairly cheap. Worthwhile to replace considering how well this has worked for me.

      @@biggamehunter23 mine ran with a jebao DC12000 return pump and a jebao SW8 for just about two hours. If you were only running low power wave makers (DC) to keep up aeration it would be considerably longer. A very active or high wattage heater would drain this in no time so I’d recommend it as a stop gap to provide aeration for several hours, don’t count on it to run the whole setup.

    How is the fan noise on these? I bought the rack version of this and the fan noise is quite loud. Definitely made to be put in a closet. I have to exchange it for something more suited for a living room.

    • @radozeman

      I don’t hear the fans on these! At least not until they kick in for actual battery backup.

    Does the input line voltage read the same numbers on yours? Mine one shows 122v while the other shows 124.

    if the batteries on these die will they still be able to transfer power through the plugs as long as they’re still plugged into the wall? assuming there’s not an outage of course

  • @terrineal7883
    @terrineal7883 5 років тому

    This might be old school thinking but shouldn't you charge up the UPS prior to plugging in any devices?

    • @radozeman
      @radozeman  5 років тому +1

      Not that I’ve ever heard, definitely probably should if it actually is going to use the battery but under normal load it shouldn’t
