    || mystery song of the day ||
I only have memories of you
We were just kids, we met at a school
And you wrote your name onto my paper bill
And it's been with me for well over ten years
Did I waste too much time?
Did you make up your mind?
I wonder what you are like today
And if I'll ever get to feel your face
If I could go back I'd change a lot of things
And I'd make a butterfly flap it's wings
    I'd change our course
    I'd change our time
And who knows what things would have been like this time
And maybe one day you will hear this song
I just hope that it won't take too long
Did you make up your mind?
Did I waste too much time?
I just hope that it won't take too long

I’m glad this movie exists. It shows that Wonder Woman isn’t this bloodthirsty warrior that a lot of media seems to depict her as. I’m just generally so tired of writers making superheroes cold and ruthless for no reason, cuz it forgets the original characterization that made them beloved in the first place. Bring back compassion to the world of superheroes.

    • @TimedRevolver

Most depictions of Wonder Woman being that bloodthirsty warrior explicitly state that she's lost her way, and this isn't how she used to behave, or how she should.

I agree so much with the last part.
Heroes are suppose to be better, they're suppose to be kind and hopeful. That's the entire point of the super-hero genre.
But these days everything needs to be "grey" and it's done so poorly that it becomes cynical.

Wonder Woman Bloodlines is a great Wonder Woman film. It starts with how this version of Diana started on her own path to becoming Wonder Woman which led her at odds with her mother Hippolyta. This does parallel Vanessa, her issues with her mother, and her path to being a villain because of the resentment she has towards both her mother and Diana. Wonder Woman in this film shows how the character of Wonder Woman is more than just a warrior. That's only part of who the character is. Wonder Woman is ultimately more than just a warrior, she's a hero. I do think that the 2009 animated Wonder Woman movie can compete with Wonder Woman Bloodlines for the title of best Wonder Woman film, since it's also a good Wonder Woman film.

I think Wonder Woman's roster of supporting characters and rogues gallery are incredibly underrated, and I wish to see more of them in future adaptions and animated media. I quite like this film too, and I wish more films embraced what makes her character so great; she is more than just a warrior, and the idea that she kills mercilessly and makes sure her enemies stay dead is not as accurate as she will kill enemies if deemed absolutely necessary but above all else she believes in people, she sees the potential in man's world and believes that love, compassion and truth can help heal the most broken, she may be a warrior, but she is also a goddess of truth, a princess of Themyscira, she's Wonder Woman

Taking absolutely nothing away from the worthy writing of this movie, I find it frustrating that nowhere I look provides credit for the major battle between Diana and Medusa, including choosing to blind herself, to save Silver Swan after all that she has done, to Greg Rucka - the author whose work was clearly a major inspiration for the entire story.
Rucka is hardly some unknown creator, and fans of Wonder Woman almost universally love his run from the early 2000s, so why didn't DC or any of the reviews acknowledge this?

I can't call myself a WW fan to any degree beyond her appearances in Justice League movies, movies relating to other DC characters, or the DCUO MMO when I played that as a kid. That said, seeing everyone in agreement that this movie was not just 'good', but 'the best WW film' is kind of shocking. I remember watching this a couple of years ago and thinking, this was easily the worst experience I have ever had with a DC animated movie. During its runtime, I understood what themes they wanted to portray, but I thought the execution was filled with unsatisfying narrative designs. There have been other bad DC animated movies, but this one offended my sensibilities enough to feel a mild sense of vitriol for having wasted my time on it.
It's been a while, so my memory is incomplete on the details of the scenes, but I found myself questioning, why did Diana need to live as a fostered child of sorts in some random woman's home? The woman's (mother's) qualifications, when speaking of her professional background, are understandable as a reason for interaction between herself and Diana. But, they aren't an excuse to deprive WW of the privacy and dignity of the one and only ambassador of a mythical nation. It just seems silly. That woman, the mother, should absolutely have worked with Diana, but at an actual workplace. Have it be a government subsidized program or something, I don't know. Give Diana her own residence, and treat her as a dignitary. Even if we accept this arrangement would be Diana's preference, I am skeptical on the immediately arranged accommodation for such an irregular request by such an irregular visitor to a normal nation. The premise all on its own seems like the kind of thing someone wanted to write to justify the existence of the daughter.
Then the daughter in question - the narrative created an unrealistic scenario wherein she got neglected hardcore. To begin with, Diana is not an emotionally inept person, and furthermore she is an adult. She's always been rough around the edges, but never dull. She should have noticed the negative impact she had on the daughter's life and insisted on either helping alleviate the situation, or leave. To think she would overstay her welcome on the basis of, I don't know, convenience? Bizarre. And the daughter - instead of just moving out with friends and being estranged from her mother, she goes for a sabotage, which somehow gets her mother killed... The setup for this was not memorable in the slightest when I watched it. I did in fact not care for the character, as I thought this was a movie about Wonder Woman, but this is supposed to be a primary plot device for the progression of the entire rest of the movie. I won't speak to the details of that particular set of events more. But what made me think of the character as nothing but an edgy self-insert was her hell-bent quest of destroying Wonder Woman. Is that really the appropriate response to just having gotten your mother killed because of your own insecurity? Lean into the same destructive insecurity even harder with people who obviously do not mean you well? There's no nuance to the daughter's character, and to posit that such a character is worthy of Diana's full attention at any point in this film, let alone being a pivotal character showcasing Wonder Woman's strength of character or however else you may want to put it, feels incredibly insulting to Wonder Woman. The only reason the daughter ever comes around to being good ends up being as a result of the movie having to end. That's how it felt anyways. An artificial 180 on everything she committed her mind, body, and soul to. Diana finally earned enough brownie points, so she's now good in her eyes. Never mind all the suffering she underwent which she blamed solely Diana for, all of it washed out to sea.
In my experience, this was a film which was never about Wonder Woman in the first place. The daughter felt like a character who was a self-insert for a writer, and I felt she received more focus than Wonder Woman herself at the time I watched this film. Additionally, we had a glimpse of Wonder Woman's backstory, and she was portrayed as someone that was constantly dependent on people around her to drive the narrative forward. She seemingly didn't make many compelling, independent choices. What few decisive moments I remember her having (ones where no other characters influenced her choices or feelings) near the end of the movie felt like undeserved gravitas, hollow, and symbolically lacking.
In conclusion: This isn't a hit piece or something. You're free to love this movie. However, the very notion that a movie that fumbled the bag this bad is something worth praising was something I was befuddled by. I'm expressing myself here partially because of my curiosity on whether anyone else feels this way as well, as me and close friends hated this movie, and partially because I feel the comment section *might* be a loud minority as a result of the presented opinion in the video being an admittedly positive one.
I am not trying to change anyone's opinions nor argue that anyone is wrong for liking this movie. I just think this is the weakest DC Animated Universe movie, and that Wonder Woman deserves something much better than whatever this movie was supposed to be.

DC heroes have 1 thing in common. And if you can't represent this 1 thing well then you don't have a hero.
Their ability to believe in change, and the betterment of people. The flash batman and even superman.

Many people say the 2009 Wonder Woman animated movie is the best out of the two, but I disagree. Bloodlines to me embodies who Wonder Woman is in my opinion. A compassionate person who believes in others, and a fierce warrior. This was my favorite Wonder Woman movies.

Random thought 💭🤔: I wonder how someone like Gege Akutami(Jujutsu Kaisen's creator.), would handle writing Wonder Woman?

I really love this breakdown, but WW 2009 will ALWAYS be the definitive Wonder Woman movie in my book, because it set up EVERYTHING that this wonder woman was. 09 wonder woman if given another movie? Would have been this Wonder Woman just with better writing, better action, and a better backstory.
The dialog in this movie was atrocious. "Purple Healing Ray?".....Seriously? 😑😑😑 As well as a few other avenues that sincerely made it flop in the eyes of so many, but I appreciate your take and definitely see it in a new light.
