The BBC World Service's reliable (though not reliably catalogued) 'Haunted: Stories of the Supernatural', ran for several years in the early 1980s and has since had a second life on Radio 4 Extra. Providing adaptations of tales old and new, it's an excellent supply of macabre tales...
MYSTERIOUS MAGPIE is a channel devoted to ghost and horror stories on British radio, and to dark tales of every kind. I have another channel, MYSTICAL MAGPIE, which is all about stories of fantasy, mythology, and adventure: / @mysticalmagpie-wo5fn
If you're interested to know more about the century-long history of ghost and horror stories broadcast at Christmas on British television and radio, you might like to check out HOLLY WRAITHS (and its companion volume HOLLY TERRORS), an A-Z guide available in paperback and ebook from Amazon and Lulu.com.

You've been SO busy the last couple of days. So much material that I've not seen available elsewhere. I also appreciate any notes you give us. Thank you so much for all your work, your dedication, and for sharing your knowledge.

Not at all; would you believe I originally started this channel as an experiment in advertising the book on Christmas Ghost stories that appears in the visual for every video? It's actually been a failure in that respect, but it's become it's own project along the way... I'll say what I've said to others, which is that there is of course a danger of the channel being shut down one day but I back up my videos so if that happens I would (in theory) just recreate it minus whichever items attracted the copyright strikes or whatever. So if it disappears one day - my intention is that it will be back, even if under a different name..!

@@mysteriousmagpie I did get that the channel was about promoting the books...and that seems a very sensible idea.
The BBC has so much in their archives that should be available to the public (who originally paid for it). It's culturally important.
BBC puts up content on UA-cam with ads. It would make sense to actually pay an archivist like yourself to curate and post up this content. All of it should be in the public domain because it was paid for by the public. I know some of the people in the radio dramas and their work should be available.
Other channels that get shut down already have back up channels that they let us know about in advance...I'm not up to date with how that is working.
I was subpoenaed in New York for posting up a non-commercial vid showing a cult's secret training vid showing its leaders how to delete their child abuse files...I'm still here. ;)
Our artistic inheritance is part of our soul and culture and it has great value being out there. It IS significant.
In my previous comment I meant to ask if there is a better platform to order your books from. I know Amazon can be brutal in the monies it extracts from authors. Is Lulu better? I like as much money as possible to go to the creator.

@@jwsuicides8095 On your last point - that's kind of you to ask, but in fact Amazon gives a better rate (believe it or not) than Lulu. When it comes to the printed copies Lulu's books are physically really nice and I've yet to get hold of an Amazon printed edition to compare - but of course Amazon has a much greater reach than Lulu. I suppose I should be grateful, mind you - it's an amateur book so of course I keep finding things to tweak and correct in it, even at this stage... so perhaps it being a little low-profile for a while is a good thing...!

@@mysteriousmagpie That's really interesting to know about the different outlets. I wasn't sure with the 2 Holly Wraith books...should they both be bought or is the second an update on the first?
PS: Nosferatu going up the stairs with a Santa hat on is hilarious, btw.

@@jwsuicides8095 Well, 'The Complete Holly Wraiths' is the text of the other two combined into a single volume, so it's better value. Originally I was just hunting down Ghost Stories for Christmas, but when I realised that the BBC had done (for example) seven different Draculas, all broadcast at Christmas, it struck me that Horror Stories for Christmas were a thing too - but I kept them in seperate volumes as that seemed appropriate - some people don't want vampires and Mr Hyde cluttering up their ghost stories, after all. In truth Lulu.com is exploiting people like me who want an easy route to having a book printed - but they are an easy-to-use platform and the physical results are good. But of course nobody finds your book on Lulu unless you tell them about it - whereas on Amazon there is at least the chance of somebody stumbling upon it. Thank you re the Nosferatu image - I've done a few of the Christmas-inflected horror images (The Headless Horseman carrying a Christmas Pudding instead of a head, for example) and used them on the first few videos for this channel - but then I realised it was rather exhausting and reverted to simple text..!
