If you haven't seen Episode 18 of Gundam Wing, I suggest not watching this clip.
This is just a clip from Episode 18 of Gundam Wing. THIS IS NOT THE FULL ANIME. I'd also like to put out a DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN GUNDAM WING. I AM SIMPLY POSTING THIS UP FOR VIEWING PURPOSE. It's only two minutes of video.. -_- All credits for this clip go to Sunrise and their respective artists, animators, etc etc.
I'm not here to win anything, I'm just pointing out that the Tallgeese is the superior MS.

I liked Zechs seiyuu better, but I can't complain about Brain Drummond's effort. He did a really good job with Zechs in the dub.
Drummond was also the voice of the OG Vegeta
His dub is legendary. He's seeshomaru
Off topic but he was Toa Metru Matau from Bionicle II: Legends of Metru and Bionicle III: Web of Shadows along with Mark Wylde from Hot Wheels: Highway 35 World Race/Acceleracers.
It's said and established many times in this series that it's more about the pilot's skills rather than the mobile suit they use. Zechs and Heero are about evenly matched no matter what suit they use.
And then the Virgos happened
Well, the Tallgeese was significantly more powerful than these Aries and Cancers, it was what the Gundam were based on.
I'm also pretty sure if Tallgeese was made from Gundanium, it could likely directly compete with the Wing Gundam.
This gets said a lot and maybe it became true but Heero fails his first few missions against Leos and Ares units. He remained cocky for most of the series.
Nah I'd say Heero is the better Pilot by a good margin. Zero and Epyon's final clash proves that. Epyon was built specifically for close combat while Zero was more well rounded and if anything a distance suit due to its main weapon being the Buster Riffle but he still beat Zeches. Their training would have obviously been different too, Zeches was just the top student at an actual military academy while Heero was given direct one on one training that was most likely far more difficult then anything you'd get at a school
@digitaladventurer2142 it's also said by Mr badass himself you must not be a winner when you pilot eypon so zech was the loser by default and is probably why herro had issues piloting eypon.

Zechs was the better mobile suit pilot, as was Treize. If anyone read Gundam Episode 0 or the actual Manga, you'd know that the only Gundam pilot truly on a somewhat level playing field with Zechs and Treize was none other than Trowa aka Nanashi aka Triton Bloom. If you refer to the final fight between Zechs and Heero, Zechs actually threw the fight in the Manga and had no intention of actually destroying the earth. It was all a ploy to end the war and merge the relations between earth and space

My favorite part of gundam wing is that anything that is cut or shot, will explode like its entirely made of TNT or something.
It should also be mentioned that during the fight in the anime, Zechs was actually looking for a final battle for him to lose his life in. He was still grief stricken from the destruction of the Sanc Kingdom and his failure to save it in the Wing Zero. That is one of the main reasons why after peace was restored, he returned to assist the preventors as "wind" to maintain what Relena and the others had achieved. Zechs was the better pilot and probably the best out of the entire series.
@Demby Abella 11 years? I have to comment on something that was pretty obvious from 11 years ago? Of course he beat him, but his heart wasn't really in that fight. It was a suicide mission, a fact backed up even in the manga
@Demby Abella Because the Zero system showed him that he was on the wrong side of the battle. Zechs was the best pilot period.

@@ChristovBelmont thanks for explaining that Zechs wanted to die! I was just wondering about zechs' motivations at the end of gundam wing. It seemed out of character for him to want to destroy earth at the end, but it makes more sense if he's just trying to get himself killed. That actually makes his line of "I'm going to live right until the bitter end" more significant - that's the point where he changes his mind about trying to die, and instead tries to help Heero destroy the ship.
ZERO System gave Zechs the tools and to method to achieve total Pacifisim. As the way "He" wanted. To become the "Fallen Hero"

What I love about the Tallgeese is that its essentially a tank held together by giant boosters. It feels like the frame of the gundam itself is being dragged around by the sheer strength of the vernier boosters and its such an intense force that even the pilot feels it too.
Not to be annoying but the tallgeese isn't a Gundam. It's a Mobile Suit. Gundams are Mobile suits too but a different a variety. What is and isn't a Gundam can vary wildly from series to series. The Silver Bullets and Murasames aren't despite having the Gundam head crest. Not to say the talgeese isn't special, it absolutely is. It's the first Mobile Suit ever created in the After Colony timeline. Also you observation about its thrust is very much accurate. When Zechs first tried piloting it it actually physically injured him due how fast it moved and how much strain that put on his body.
When you realize the secondary antagonist is the seventh protagonist.
Well to be honest he is basically char clone who is 2rd protagonist in UC

I don't think he honestly wanted to be Treize's friend anymore. After all, the only reason Zechs joined the Romafeller Foundation was to get inside and destroy it for the destruction it caused to his family and the Sanc kingdom .
he does! That's a beef I have with the show. They should have kept the mask off, later in the show he is wearing it again.

it's more circumstantial than skill, Zechs fought fought 50 Aries and 30 cancers in Tallgeese, while Heero fought an army of Mobile DOLL Virgos in a crappy Leo
I remember watching this on Toonami and I had missed the episode where he liberated Sanc Kingdom. So for me this scene where Zechs’s mask breaks felt more appropriate in revealing his face
I've been a Gundam fan for over 20 years and the Tallgeese is still my favorite mobile suit in the entire franchise. It just looks so clean and cool and the dober gun is a classy weapon.
This scene and when Zechs destroyed the Barge station were so epic. ~_~
After maximizing the stats on tallgeese in Gundam versus and coming back to this video now I understand why milliardo had issue piloting this thing nevertheless it's still my favorite non Gundam mobile suit
You have to remember due to how life threatening it was just to pilot, they had to make the gundams weaker in the first place. Zech is probably the only non gundam pilot that could survive piloting that prototype to the gundams.

Hold on. Weren't the Gundams nerfed versions of Wing Zero? Because Wing Zero is a literal weapon of mass destruction with its beam rifle capable of destroying an entire colony, the Gundams 01-05 are nerfed but still strong Mobile Suits of the original Wing Zero design for the sake of Civilian safety.
Tall Geese was a prototype from the Wing Zero design, but based on a Leo, and it's more accurate to say that it's a predecessor to Gundams 01-05. The Gundams are in no way "weaker" than the Tall Geese, just perfected versions in a sense because they are safer to use for the pilot since they are the final product and the Tall Geese was a Prototype which of course would have bugs in it.
Despite being more dangerous to use due to its nature as a prototype, the Tall Geese is still descended from the design of the engineers involved in the creation of the Gundams, so it's still able to compete with the Gundams in terms of combat potential.
Zech is just an impressive pilot because he was able to overcome the dangers of the Tall Geese so he can have a suit that can compete with the Gundams combat-wise.

I remember reading years ago that the 5 gundams were all based on Wing Zero, in a way.
Wing Gundam had the similar look, plus the buster rifle.
Deathscythe had its speed.
Heavyarms had its destructive capabilities.
Sandrock had its armored capability.
Shenlong had its fighting abilities.
Probably all of which the 5 engineers put into the Wing Zero, but never built it since they knew the suit was too dangerous. They must have built the earliest version of the zero system and tested it, but knew that it was also too dangerous.
That's just my opinion. Then again, it was probably explained in the show, and I most likely missed it.

Tallgeese= Head height 17.4 meters
Hyaku Shiki= overall height 21.4 meters; antenna height 19.2 meters; head height 18.5 meters

In Glory of the Losers, Tallgeese gets upgraded into the Tallgeese Flugel after this and would remain in service up until the battle with Duo Maxwell wherein it was heavily damaged and lost the Anti Gundam Heat Lance.
The Tallgeese Flugel Binders, Data from Wing Gundam EW, and the frame from the Wing Gundam Proto Zero which was wrecked against Duo, were used to build the Wing Gundam Zero EW. You can say that Wing Zero EW became the true successor of the Tallgeese at that point.
Every since my Sis pointed out Drummond sounds like Batman as Zechs, I can't take him seriously 😅😂

@@Kira22558 Yeah, true, you've got a point. When I wrote this comment I mostly just meant on a visual storytelling level though. I was imagining that something similar could have worked towards the end of OG Gundam during the Amuro vs. Char sword fight or something like that

Buy the Tallgeese 3 High Grade 1/100 Kit. Provided you're willing to do some painting, they have all the parts available to make any of the three Tallgeese variations. It's not complex painting either, just airbrushing some parts white instead of blue.

I like how this is titled "Tallgeese destroyed" but Tallgeese walks away from this one. Maybe the title was supposed to be "Tallgeese destroyed everything like a champ"?
To take on that many enemies at once shows you just how strong Zechs really was in the show and why he was a threat to Heero

I bought a MG Tallgeese 1 several years ago.
It's the Endless Waltz version (no, not Tallgeese 3), but it's pretty much exactly the same, just with minor added details. Check it out; if you haven't bought it already, I highly recommend it.
I got this and "Wing Proto Zero" (basically an Endless Waltz version of the original TV Wing Zero--minor added details).
Tallgeese has always been my favorite mobile suit. It's like combining a Roman Centurion, a mobile suit, and a storm trooper into one.
So many deaths in this series. All those mobile suits he destroyed had pilots that died.
I would like to see a model of a hypothetical tallgeese IV , basically the EW Tallgeese III but upgraded with parts salvaged from the destroyed Gundams. Especially wing zero
Apparently there’s a manga set as a prequel to Endless Waltz, and there was an iteration of the Tallgeese that was used as a testbed for the Wing Zero’s angel wings.
Probably not canon though, considering the Endless Waltz angel wings were retconned into the original anime’s story.
Glory of the Losers had the Tallgeese Flugel, which was a retcon of the Tallgeese being outfitted for Space Combat.
In Glory of the Losers, Duo destroyed the Wing Gundam Proto Zero and defeated Zechs in the Tallgeese Flugel. Due to severe damage, Howard decided to use the Tallgeese Flugel's Wings, Data from the Wing Gundam, and the existing Wing Proto Zero frame to create the Wing Zero EW and later on added the Shield and Neon Bird mode back, along with additional equipment.
The Tallgeese Flugel was outfitted with Anti Gundam Weapons but the upgrades on the Deathscythe Hell proved to be superior to it.

Took me along Time to realize the mobile suits zechs is fighting are named after the zodiac signs.
Leos, Cancers,Taurus's, Virgo's and Aries,
All of these mobile suits are from OZ. OZ is shorthand for Organization of OZ

I love the Tallgeese but it always bothered me that they treated it as having infinite ammo whereas the Gundams definitely ran out.
Tallgeese was never in an extended fight like the Gundams and unlike the Wing Gundam, the Tallgeese's Dobergun didn't use cartridges

The mask symbolizes his alter ego, Zechs Merquise, the name he used while working with Treize to bring down the Alliance from within. While a friend, Zechs was a tool in Treize' grander schemes for the world. The mask was his most outward symbol of that relationship. Zechs Merquise, Treize's masked right-hand man. But that wasn't him anymore. He'd couldn't be a part of Oz as he'd grown beyond that and his ideals had become incompatible with the Romefeller Foundation's. Because he'd crossed them, they sent this mobile suit force to kill him. And all of that meant that he'd grown beyond the friendship with Treize, as well. Earlier in the episode Treize tells him that if her were to "die" he'd be free and that's exactly what happens. The moment the mask breaks, Zechs Merquise is dead and all that's left is Millardo Peacecraft. He's no longer a soldier of Oz nor is he the man who was friends with Treize Khushrenada. Think of it like a cicada molting and discarding it's used husk.

I don't remember the name but it's definitely not unreleased. It later plays in the final episode when Heero shoots down Libra

Why the misleading title? Tallgeese isn't destroyed until some time after it gets into space IIRC. It's been a VERY long time since I watched Wing.

Yeah and it was later heavily modified to the point where it was tactically comparable to Wing Zero. I loved the Tallgeese though, it completely shat on all those other mass produced mobile suits.

Wing zero, you mean the wing gundam with the zero system?. yes I agree, I meant the wing gundam. The Tallgeese sure showed that with the right pilot it could keep up with a gundam. The main limitations with the tallgeese was in it's armor merely being strengthened titanium.
Yeah, The Tallgeese did defeat heavyarms, although it wasn't a fair battle since heero was injured.

Gundam Wing was a fine show, but I don't know where you're getting "good dub." None of the characters had much in the way in voice inflection as far as I could tell.
I actually like most dubs; I just didn't happen to like Gundam Wings. Don't be so presumptuous.
Zechs is just another prime example of one of the worst dubbings of all time.
