To use a basketball phrase, Game 7 moments rarely happen because they are special. F1 is trying to make everything a game 7 moment, which will cease to be special
In the same vein, something else that's frustrating about F1 is that there are more practical and pragmatic ways to improve the calibre of every racing moment. For instance, the dirty offline issue with Miami should have been fixed. The cars also need to be smaller. I've been enjoying better wheel-to-wheel racing in F2 lately over F1. Last year's Monaco in F2 had plenty of overtakes, including the final chicane. Bring back track and car conditions conducive to overtakes and wheel-to-wheel racing, and you won't need gimmicks such as reverse-order sprints. It could be worse, though. Have you seen NASCAR's changes over the last few years? My family watches it, and I don't even recognize it anymore. Full of gimmicks, while V8 Supercars already shows a fantastic example of organising a domestic V8 stock car series.
Been a fan for 30+ years, a lot of the recent changes have just been totally unnecessary, no one asked for sprint races yet they seem hell bent on putting them in. Just give us cars that can race one another decently and the rest will fall into place. There’s also no need for another street track, we have way to many
It will be interesting to see just how far F1 goes with this. I can see them continuing to grow for a while, but also if the car performance doesn’t converge eventually, the popularity bubble could burst. It feels wrong to be this cynical haha, but I genuinely just wanna see the best drivers, race in the best cars, on the best tracks (Suzuka, Sepang, Spa etc.)
The Sprints at first seemed like a good idea, at best you get someone going from the back of the grid to being in a position to fight for the win in the main race (Hamilton at Brazil), but of course backmarkers (like Williams at the time) will tend to be squeezed to the back during the Sprint. But with the recent changes, I get that they want to have more chances for people to actually want to be at the track to see "fast wheel-to-wheel action" (I live in Canada, and all TSN airs would be FP2, Quali, and the race, so during the Sprint weekend all I would be missing out on would be the Sprint Quali), but the whole reason why the Sprint was brought in was to make a more entertaining portion of qualifying for the actual race. But now that they made it its own separate thing, it just kinda feels like a gimmick (it was even before the changes, but probably my naive mind thinks that it served more of a purpose in the old format) and now they should just cast the Sprint away and either increase the points to reflect Sprint+Race total or just go back to how things were before.
@@PetrolHeadMotorsport I could cut them some slack during Covid as we had a few races at the same venue, but now it’s just unnecessary and ruins any excitement towards Sunday. The whole push towards americanising the sport is turning a lot of older fans away and the newer fans that have came in from dts are expecting 2021 every season are gonna be disappointed, that was a once every 10 year kind of season.
As a blue blooded European it hurts me to say that I find Indy car way more entertaining now a days. Close racing, fast cars jumping through insane street circuits and most importantly way less politics and drama for the casual fan.
I watched the highlights for the race in Alabama and it was honestly so good. Grosjean drove so freaking well, but it just wasn’t to be. Maybe at some point I’ll start making content on it as I learn more about the series cuz as you say, the racing is a lot better
Very astute and accurate. Indy cars are a spec series so tighter racing and the cars are MUCH more difficult to drive. An Indy car driver is always on the edge and is constantly making correction on the wheel. Also real pit stops for fuel and tires.
@@apexclip3458 Yeah and I think push to pass is a much better way of solving the “problem” of dirty air that Indy cars might have compared to DRS that is heavily skewed towards team like Red Bull that can run a more aggressive rear wing.
It seems to be driven by money and the show. I fear that while they (F1) think they are appealing to this new fandom/attentiuon, they are actually only catering for the minority. The new fans are actually really serious about the sport and care about it. I do worry for the future tbh.
It’s all well and good growing the series. But once you successfully do that, don’t try acting all brand-new. These new formats don’t really add anything to the weekend - both for the avid and casual fans.
@@BMPHF1 bar lots of fans enjoy it and people are just complaining because they don’t like change and because of 1 weekend, we need more proof before making the points you are
Rn, the only thing propping it up is the drama. Had George and Max not provided that last weekend, it would’ve been even less interesting. As you say, it feels like a lot of things are being force fed that fans don’t really want.
In the words of a Pixar villain: if everyone is special, no one is. Trying to force "special" events like right now in Miami won't work, it either becomes special by itself or it won't.
I have been an F1 fan since the 1960’s and have even had the pleasure of meeting a numbers of WDC’s and team members, however since AD2021 my interest has wained. Last year I only watched about 50% of the races live, catching the remainder as highlights on Ch4. This year I have contented myself to watching the “Sky highlights” on UA-cam. Yesterday I preferred to watch the BTC, F4 and Porsche Cup races from Brands, and very enjoyable it was to. With 4, 1-2’s out of the first 5 races by RBR, the only question is whether RBR will let Checo win this race 😂🤣
I’m also looking into other racing series atp. Seen a few very entertaining IndyCar races this season. NASCAR had a great one yesterday too. Might start making content on those eventually when I gain more knowledge and understanding of them
As a new American fan who discovered F1 through DTS, I share your concerns. Personally, I'd far rather watch practice sessions and learn more about strategy and technical details than see sprint races. It seems a lot of fans were put off by the new Baku 2023 sprint format and I was too, yet Will Buxton (whom I like but disagree with here) said well, it brought viewership up 72% so the fans must love it. I worry Domenicali and the other rulers will decide it's more of an entertainment business than a sport, if they haven't already.
I’ve been watching since the early 80s and I can’t remember a season being less interesting, except perhaps 2005 when they banned tyre changes. Even 2021 got a bit… artificial. It’s become WWF1, and the goals of these regulations have clearly failed.
Yep, I've stopped watching F1 altogether now. It no longer feels like a sport, it feels like a TV show. I just want to watch cars turning up to a racetrack to go racing, without any gimmicks. IndyCar is where it's at for me now.
Critical thinking is rare to come across nowadays. I’m fortunate to have a community of like-minded people who are capable of forming their own conclusions/analysis even if they go against the grain :)
We need more content like this! New fans of DTS and new american fans will get bored because the 2021 season is hard to repeat and they it will be like that every season so the new fans american and all over the world will leave (generation tik tok) Only one to see this is Max and you watch him look around and thinking....a few more years till 2028 and i will leave the sport i fell in love with since 4 years old and they are ruining it
I really appreciate Max’s honesty when it comes to these things. A lot of drivers try walking a tight rope when answering questions about adding more sprint races and removing traditional circuits. But Max is not afraid whatsoever to speak his mind and what he holds true to himself. Very commendable quality.
I hate how hard they are trying to pander to American fans. We are not dumb, for the most part, but we will eventually realize how pandering it is. I am here for racing, I want entertainment that happens on the track like in endurance racing, and indycar. I do not want this manufactured drama and gimmicky choices. I want racing
Exactly. And that’s okay. Traditionally F1 centred around peak engineering. The by-product of that is sometimes, the spectacle isn’t great and you get a few people lose interest. But at least they’re not trying to pretend that it’s exciting like they keep doing with this new era of cars.
All FI cars are the same in respect to size, tyres, engine size, etc, etc, but there is wriggle room for teams to adopt their own technology. So pretty much the same as NASCAR and Indycar in that respect.
To dumb down motorsport in general is drivers going round and round in circles. F1 wants a Superbowl but that's wishful thinking and have edging closer and closer to a "spec series" with it's regulations. It's pride as the pinnacle of motorsports but still can't ensure race condition finishes is a great example. And to rub salt to the wound Indycar has less super license points compared to f2. Imo given present circumstances with the different teams. The only way is to reintroduce refuelling but they can't because of the hypocrisy of "net zero"
I imagine that this "manufacturing" strategy started at the last race of 2021. The manufactured result created such a spectacle at the time (whether for the right or wrong reasons) , that a big new following emerged.....Then greed took over as this spectacle scenario was seen by F1 management as a cash cow. The only problem with "manufacturing" is that it eventually becomes predictable and unrealistic. People then get bored and and seek alternatives, or just completely lose interest altogether. The Fast and Furious illustration is absolutely spot on. Your take is always well thought out and and truthful. Absolutely great content. Cheers
Been watching F1 since 2010. F1 always been gimmicky so I am not worried about this. And something than non business people need to understand is F1 is publicly traded company so Money is legally the top Interest and regarding a 11th team entering F1 we need to remember F1 teams have petabytes of data and billions of investment in the teams so it's impossible for Andretti to come in be successful without doing what Haas does. Andretti isn't really intrested in my opinion they just want attention, If they really were interested than they wouldn't offer 300M$ for Haas which is a joke
On that topic of money being in F1ms legal interest to maximise though, wouldn’t it make sense financially to have a name like Andretti in the field, especially in their pursuit of further growth in the US market?
F1 is no longer racing. It is huge conglomerates and extremely wealthy people spending billions for bragging rights. All the attempts to reign in costs have actually made it worse and destroyed widespread competition.
I’ve been looking forward to Nascar, Indycar, WEC, and Formula 2 more recently. The Fia raising the the height has literally made it feel like I am watching a race from early 2000s. I do have hope however, bad decisions will eventually fail, and I’m sure in a few years things will get better. I wish there was another open wheel racing series that was not spec and an engineering contest without the bs formula 1 has now.
Brings up some good points honestly, Life long Motorsprts fan here for the past 35 years or so. F1 has always been my favorite Sport. I know the gimmicks started in the 2010's imo. But they have reached a whole new level since that Netflix show. Also, and sorry LOL but i'm probably allot older (46) than you all. I thought the Fast and Furious Series was the dumbest most unrealistic crap i ever saw. I only watched the first one....Now gone in 60 seconds? Yea that is probably my favorite "street car movie". Two cents.
I could not agree more with you. And we are not alone. In a poll by Peter Windsor 71% of the viewers did not like the sprint format. I have learned to loath the words spectacle and show that are now constantly used. I want a proper race on a proper race track.
F sprint races and f street circuits. Bring back the good old F1. There is nothing wrong with the tried and tested format of 3 practices, 1 qualifying and 1 race. And watching people "race" on a street circuit where overtaking is near impossible is boring AF. Give us more tracks like Spa, Silverstone, Monza etc, those give us the most entertaining races.
This is what happens when your sport's greatest marketing product is a highly edited, carefully directed reality series curated to tell a story... F1 used to be about the spontaneity and immediacy of racing at hard tracks with high speeds... Now its about waiting for the latest season of a highlights show to launch... So the focus is rightly on the product that is more financially viable- and that is the show... "The Show" why Masi stole the Chamionship from SLH and its "The Show" that is consumed by millions of new fans with no idea about the sport, but money to spend on netflix subs... The actual racing fans who have spent generations creating the culture and legends that make the spirt special are being NASCAR'd out of importance... As is the sport itself..
It hurts to watch it happen in real time. Numbers are still soaring which is ultimately the only thing they care about, but the fundamental characteristics of this sport that made it so special are slowly becoming a thing of the past.
@@BMPHF1 absolutely... Red Bull is embracing this as it fits their agenda and their very young, very passionate and very inexperienced fan base... You can also see how Williams, Ferrari and other teams are being strangled to death by this move away from engineering, math, bravery and physics to communications, marketing, showmanship and social media impact... This won't end well... And its not just frustration from a SLH fan. F1 was at a huge competitive peak when Alonso lost the title to Vettel who led the championship only after the last race. That was real drama and excitement and 2 all tme great drivers (+ Hamilton and Kimi) racing to the bitter end What we have now is "Real Race drivers of Monaco"... Sad...
People may not agree but I watched great driving when I watch Sena, Schumacher, Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton and now Ves-newey 😅 When each of these drivers had to step up (even in superior cars) they really showed you what “stepping up” meant. Come from behind, dicey racing on tough tracks and even mistake free driving when they were way out in front. But the direction F1 is headed now I’m seeing the hints of “western entertainment” on a European based sport. Let Hollywood stay Hollywood…they have NastyCAR and enough fighting/wrestling. To consider the sport a cross over soap opera. F1 is about technology, innovation and race culture…keep it that way!
I agree pretty much 100%. If I'm totally honest, if there was as much content online for WEC, GTWC and even Supercars, I'd happily forget about F1 because of the state it has gotten into. There's so much content in between and around race weekends, it helps you to feel involved but I think if you took all that away, F1 as it is atm would feel a little empty and as you put it soulless. On the other hand, that's what F1 and the community around it has done so well, GTWC and even some WEC races are streamed in full on yt in multiple languages, the racing is more exciting in my opinion too, yet the format doesn't do as good of a job at conveying the spectacle. Also, I think F1 has a really good grid size to be able to get to know each driver, whereas series like WEC where you have multiple drivers in each car, it can be difficult to get that intimacy for some fans. I think if there was more content creation around endurance racing to help people get to know drivers and cars and understand regs and news, it would be a lot easier for fans to get into. But either way, the only thing keeping people watching F1 over other disciplines of motorsport is the presentation and visibilty imo. And this brings me to perhaps the biggest thing- F1 is kinda niche. Motorsport in general is, infact apart from football or nfl if you're in the US, most sports are a little niche. Not everyone gets the same entertainment value from watching outright competition and out of those that do, not all of those people like cars. And out of those people, not all are interested in formula racing. Trying to expand the fan base is good, but F1 needs to either accept what it is or risk loosing the identity of the sport and with it all of its hardcore fans. Being niche is fine. Having a boring race here or there is fine. One team cracking the regs and dominating is fine. It's sport. These things happen. It's all about the spectacle of competition. When Usain Bolt broke those records and dominated in his field, nobody tried to nerf his legs. Nobody said it was boring. It's the nature of sport and that's ok. Things can always change for the better, but in the case of F1 races, people really need to stop complaining about "boring races". It's counter productive to the situation and is only fuelling this negative feedback loop of F1 and the FIA making poor decisions regarding F1. Yes, there could be more overtaking, but sometimes you watch videos and read comments and you're left wondering if people were watching the same race or what they expected from a race. It's insane imo.
As a viewer, that’s an insane amount of consumption as it is. But if you’re working within F1 as an engineer/mechanic, that’s actually unfair. They already spend most of the time away from the families and working crazy hours week after week. Increasing that demand is crazy
@@BMPHF1 and you've artificially capped how much money they cam earn with the salary cap which is only going down We are heading towards a breaking point for a lot of people
The issue of cars not able to follow closely is the result of Mercedes lobbying the FIA in order to raise the ride heights because it couldn't fix the porpoising issue. Raising the ride height completely nullified the regulations designed for ground effect cars.
I’m watching the driver introduction from Miami which is some mix of weird goofy strange Vegas show type production that is utterly ridiculous. It’s slightly better than watching Martin bumble through the grid that is now filled with supposed stars I’ve never heard of and hanger on type people taking selfies so they can pretend to be somebody. We lost the grid girls and replaced them with utter silliness of a production. Thank goodness for the mute button!
Your comments are right on the money. I started watching F1 on the Wide World of Sports in 1961. Then you had to be patient enough to wait for coverage between ice dancing and barrel jumping, but watching Stirling Moss hold off the Ferraris of Hill and Ginther at Monaco made quite an impression on that teenager back then. As you mentioned, Nascar tried to be everything to everybody and look where they are now. We have too many races, 20 is more than enough if they're really trying to keep costs down. The Sprint series is a joke. Leaving fabulous Spa, Monza and Silverstone would be a tragic mistake. I'm glad I got to see some races at the historic tracks, and battles between some of the greats ,Moss, Prost, Senna, Piquet, Lauda, Mario, Schui, Lewis and the rest, because Mr. Domenicali seems hell-bent on ruining the sport.
I was born in 1998 and started watching F1 in 2001, I started understanding F1 around 2006. F1 has recently become mainstream with DTS and since then management tried to appeal this new kind of audience, what's bad about mainstream tho is that it is TEMPORARY. DTS fans won't last forever and it's completely normal and now, in 2023, we have already started to experience complainings about RB dominance which is, again, normal looking back at F1's history, there's nothing new or wrong with what's happening rn. The risk they are taking is that when F1 won't be mainstream anymore they will only have old-fashioned fans who don't like the category anymore. They should improve the sporting side of the product as that is what loyal fans value. Talking about the cars, I think the new ground effect regulation was a good call, racing has improved and everybody who thinks that we could have way closer racing in F1 as it was Formula Ford do not get what F1 is. Back at the 80s and 90s there were cars that were 15/20 seconds per lap slower than the leader, this is the closest grid we have ever had. My opinion is that we should have no DRS, overtaking MUST be difficult because difficult overtakes are the best for the show (Hakkinen v MSC in Belgium, Piquet v Senna in Hungary, Raikkonen v Alonso in Japan). Another thing is strategy, they must add variables to strategies, bring back refueling and reduce tyre life as before Silverstone 2013, we need at least 2 to 4 pit stops per car per race in order to have very diverse strategies (see France 2004). Last but not least is give the teams more freedom in design choices (like hypercar class in WEC or F1 itself in the 70s and 80s) and do whatever it takes to reduce cars' max dimentions and weight.
I watched NBA for the first time the other day, every time out they went to an ad break. A 2 hour 30 minute broadcast and it was probably 1 hour + of ad breaks. It was actually painful. Hope F1 doesn’t go this way because there are often large moments of time during a race such as a red flag or other incident where they talk about what’s going on ect and I can see that being replaced with ad breaks soon
F1 is not the same sport it once was. It's a show including gimicks first. These are things I'd change. Open tire competition, brand vs. brand. End this multiple tire compounds. I want the best tire on the cars all the time from which ever brands choose to supply and compete. Junk DRS, it's fake passing. I'd adopt push to pass like Indy car does, because push to pass has a price to pay as in fuel consumption when drivers use it. Bring back refuelling. This brings back different strategies. Open up the wheel spokes design and brakes so that fans can see glowing discs under braking. Qualifying should go back to 45 min. and 12 total laps as it was back in the 90's and earlier. It will force teams to get a banker qualifying time then prepare as the 45 min session nears end teams especially top teams trying to get an improved time or shoot for pole. Bring back the grid girls. I know it adds nothing to the sport but eye candy. But pretty young models who's profession is looking pretty should not be punished for being pretty and in a profession built on being pretty. And no. No damn half time show should ever be contemplated. As to sprint races. I don't need them but if it works well enough for the show then I will tolerate them.
I have been a F1 for as long as I can remember, I started watching the sport full time in 2010 after finding out it was being broadcast in the morning and fortunate enough to see the 2010 championship, Schumacher's final Podium and the end of the V8 era if cars. I feel the same way when 2020 happened, F1 popularity skyrocketed, the introduction of sprint races that got me thinking "Something ain't right..." more so after both 2021 and 2022 happened, it felt more of a brand than a sport to me, that doesn't mean I'll stop watching it, it just feels off.
Thanks. Max and Lewis are the only ones I’ve heard say sprints don’t really add anything special for them. Max in particular was very outspoken and unashamedly so. I think he received unfair criticism for saying that F1 should just scrap them since he’s the favourite for the championship. But he doesn’t give a f 😂
It's funny how certain F1 fans complain that mixing up the format or using DRS is artificial or gimmicky. But at the same time we are following a sport where carbon fibre bathtubs with inverted wings and 1000bhp engines blast around a circle at 300+kph. And somehow that's not artificial? 🙂
I agree with all you say here. As a former NASCAR fan, it just hurts seeing how poorly managed it is today with all the gimmicks, the soul of the sport is gone. I am beginning to fear the same could happen to F1 with how they’re promoting gimmicks and odd formats.
Baku's Saturday became practically pointless and held no meaning for sunday so there was basically no stakes. Changing something that was perfect doesn't make sense it feels forced and contrived.
It felt as though when liberty first took over F1 that the sport was growing in such a way that new fans were being attracted in a way that would lead to them becoming long time fans. But since the increase in popularity of drive to survive it seems as though the new fans are more connected to the show than to the actual sport. This will only lead to more issues in the future when the show is inevitably cancelled and the fans that were only following the sport for drive to survive leave, as watching the races would only increase their understanding of what was happening on the show, not for actual interest in racing.
you hit the nail on this one may I add? F1 popularity, is in a state mirroring that of a newly addicted drug user. Life seems to be going well, there are no worries, and nothing seems to be wrong, but soon it will become clear that everything is actually spiraling downward and dying slowly.
I totally agree with you. I have been watching F1 since I was 10. I am now 65. Yes, you do have to change to grow. But don't change the heart and soul out of it. Reading comments, if there is not a crash or drama happening on the track people find it a boring race. Mostly people who just discouvered F1. F1 is not Nescar or Indycar. Both great sports to watch too. But F1 has always been about developping new technics. It doesn't need The all American Sause spilled on it.
A: Yes As somebody who's been a die hard fan for almost 20 years, I've put up with the additions of DRS, $1 billion star wars engines that put out half the volume, tighter & tighter technical regulations for the engineers to find innovation within, tracks like Sepang & Hockenheim being dropped for more and more street circuits, multiple scandals, and so on. I've soldiered forward. But the changes that I've seen just in the last couple years, along with some of the crap that's been leaving Stefano Domenacali's mouth, leave me wondering if I'm just going to stop watching altogether pretty soon... It appears that current ownership knows nothing at all about what caused Nascar's downfall. And I take no pride in saying this either, like a flex. It makes me quite sad to type all that, actually. Current fanbase couldn't tell you the difference between oversteer and understeer (the number of online polls I saw that rated Australia as a 4 or 5 star race absolutely blew my mind), so why on earth are we trying to bait more of them in?
Left this comment as soon as I opened the video; just got to the end now and heard everything you have to say... Bravo, could not possibly agree more. All points very well said
It needs to be a gimmick because the F1 drive to survive fans think exists and the reality of F1 don’t match up so the newfound interest and fandom will die out over the next few seasons if they don’t ‘create a show’ sad to see
It could EASILY be said Mercedes lost abu dhabi 21 because they ran too long on old tires. Hamilton had warned them in the race it was a long waynfoe those tires And the team gambled because they didnt qant to risk the lead Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to many factors involved to just pin it on massi 😂😂😂😂😂
An Americanized F1 means more wrecks and F1 is well on the way to giving Americans what they crave. More teams on the grid will mean scraping the bottom of the driver barrel, more rookies, more pay drivers, more mediocre talent wrecking every weekend and losing their seats in a revolving door of chaos and destruction. Welcome to the new Formula 1. F1 needs fewer teams, smaller cars, fewer street circuits, lower speeds and better racing. Leave the cartwheeling into the barriers at 200mph to NASCAR and IndyCar. But the greedy bastards who run F1 only care about money, so get ready for more disintegrating cars, fireballs and louche branding.
The sport is only trying to evolve . Sometimes they get it wrong yes but im all for trying new things if were gonna get boring races like Baku. You cant complain about a boring f1 race and ALSO complain about them wanting to make changes. Choose one.
What do you guys think...Do away with DRS, 1 point for fastest pit stop, no tire warmers, pit crew stays behind a line until car stops, car cannot be released until pit crew back behind the line, Qualifying time based on average of 4 laps, one tire spec, (no more having to use two different tires) open F1 to multiple tire makes, no rev limit, races have to be a minimum of 200 miles in length....Safety car laps don't count, cars bunch but lapped cars stay lapped....I hate the attempts at creating artificial passing and competition that does not actually exist....Forcing pit stops, and DRS just makes for artificial meaningless passing....thoughts????
F1 is become an entertainment biz, in other words its becoming artificial, at this point they will likely introduce standard restarted 5laps before the end like indy car or something...
If Monaco, Monza and Spa goes off is not F1 anymore If there are 30 venues is not F1 anymore If there are added races on Saturday is not F1 anymore If we are going to unique chasis wouldn´t be F1 anymore
Problem is, Stefano is taking the sport away from long time fans like me. I understand, new things need to be done to be able to keep up with the times but, throwing away the core of the sport that made it successful in the first place is foolish. No franchise or company has ended well by doing such a thing. Recent example, Bud Light.
I don't see Abu Dhabi 2021 as a turning point in this, I've started watching F1 in 2006 and often there were suspicious moments that could've been solved in different ways. However I'm still not a fan of recent changes and I always ask myself: is it really a misstep or I'm just gatekeeping my favourite sport? I still don't know the answer.
In my opinion, F1 is definitely heading the NASCAR way with both the calendar and the prices. Monaco, Spa & Monza potentially losing their spots on the calendar for 5 other street-races somewhere far away in questionable places with boat-loads of money is a good example of this. Granted, Monaco is not the best race of the year, but racing there is special. It is called "The Crown Jewel" for a reason. Losing that will hurt F1 in the long term, as proven by NASCAR when they left some of their heritage behind (and now desperately harken back to). It is not to say that everything was better in the past, but my interest is shifting more and more away from F1, and I don't feel like that is a positive.
Getting rid of Spa and Monza are just dumb ideas, bring back the German Grand Prix would be a good idea. I didn't mind the pre-race deal at Miami but let's just stop there with the 'Super Bowl' theatrics. Not a huge fan of the Sprint Races, make qualy more interesting by awarding points there. I'm not against a 30 races season but with some changes: two crews that alternate races and drivers limited to 20 races (three drivers/team). That would solve the 'over worked' issue and add some spice to the Driver's and Constructors' championships. Think about the strategy involved in which drivers drove which races. You would have weekends without Max just winning another one and you could get a driver that gets enough wins when Max is off to at least make the Drivers' championship look close. Of course, the cost cap would need to be adjusted for the extra crew and parts. But just to make the same crew and driver do 1/3 again the work is a bad idea and burnout would be insane.
We remove spa but keep race in human supressing oil dictatorship so those can have loads of advertisement (qatar, bahrain, abu dhabi, saudi) OKAY STEFANO
Lost my love for F1 once they cater to social media and the Netflix fans arrived. Along with the green energy and identity politic grift, while taking money from Saudi and China at the same time.
Fans go to numerous football games every weekend and 50% plus end in a draw .... do you see football start making up for it by mixing it up or making new rules ?? These sprints is nothing more than Liberty Media (US company that doesn't give a sh@t about F1 heritage) trying to milk the cash cow as long as it lasts, If F1 dies in 10 years because its become a diluted trivial freak show with fake celebs on the grid being the main entertainment and racing take back stage they will sell it to the highest bidder and laugh there asses off all the way to the bank. Meanwhile the die hard F1 fans will wonder what happened to there beloved sport and never see it again.
Too gimmicky and you open with fast and furious? Each car costs about 28,000,000….per RACE! So when you see the green light, you see the whole fast and furious movie budget get set on fire and gone in 120 minutes. 18 teams times 25 million times how many races a season, 20? Yeah, too gimmicky……maybe remove this video and go grab yourself a bud light.
To use a basketball phrase, Game 7 moments rarely happen because they are special. F1 is trying to make everything a game 7 moment, which will cease to be special
Exactly. Not every game can end like the 2016 finals
No half time Rihanna or anyone else
Very well said. Or as I've heard, "you can't have Christmas every day"
Stolen from SlapShoes lol
Man the ticket prices are just unaffordable now, it's better to watch from home comfort.
@@BMPHF1 totally agree 👍🏽
@@BMPHF1 bar lots of fans enjoy it and people are just complaining because they don’t like change and because of 1 weekend, we need more proof before making the points you are
@@shakesnbake even though he’s talking complete wrong
Nah they care about slandering the grid 🔥
I'm definitely falling out of love with F1 recently, it feels so forced.
Rn, the only thing propping it up is the drama. Had George and Max not provided that last weekend, it would’ve been even less interesting. As you say, it feels like a lot of things are being force fed that fans don’t really want.
I agree, even considering cancelling my F1TV subscription.
exactly
Thanks for not being a sheep and take a step back and think about it for a sec. This is so wrong the path they are taking.....
Critical thinking is rare to come across nowadays. I’m fortunate to have a community of like-minded people who are capable of forming their own conclusions/analysis even if they go against the grain :)
We need more content like this! New fans of DTS and new american fans will get bored because the 2021 season is hard to repeat and they it will be like that every season so the new fans american and all over the world will leave (generation tik tok)
Only one to see this is Max and you watch him look around and thinking....a few more years till 2028 and i will leave the sport i fell in love with since 4 years old and they are ruining it
I really appreciate Max’s honesty when it comes to these things.
As long as F1 insists on every car being different, spectacle will always suffer.
Cheers
While they are producing "Show" They have lost sight that this is a "Sport".... What comes next.. Fan boost?
I could also potentially see that happening lmao. It’s the perfect way to increase randomness which is what they’re going for
Indy car is way better. And Indy car has a more diverse schedule too.
I will seriously become a channel member
That was real drama and excitement and 2 all tme great drivers (+ Hamilton and Kimi) racing to the bitter end
What we have now is "Real Race drivers of Monaco"...
YES!!! Artificial racing to rival Nascar...
30 races in a year. There's 36 academic weeks in a year, so are we going to have 6 weeks of f1 back to back then only a week off before the next 6?
As a viewer, that’s an insane amount of consumption as it is. But if you’re working within F1 as an engineer/mechanic, that’s actually unfair. They already spend most of the time away from the families and working crazy hours week after week. Increasing that demand is crazy
@@BMPHF1 and you've artificially capped how much money they cam earn with the salary cap which is only going down
We are heading towards a breaking point for a lot of people
The issue of cars not able to follow closely is the result of Mercedes lobbying the FIA in order to raise the ride heights because it couldn't fix the porpoising issue. Raising the ride height completely nullified the regulations designed for ground effect cars.
We need to keep Italians far away from leadership roles. They seem to mess it all up.
Great video. You are absolutely spot on
If you mean "too american" than yes it definitely is and has fallen downhill so much since america took over the series.
Nice work. Keep it up!
Thanks. Will do :)
such a funny coincidence that last weeks Miami GP had a big fast and furious sponsorship
Half Time Shows, i can see that with all the red flags happening
I’ve seen this emoji everywhere recently 😂. Just waiting for the day F1 has timeouts as well lmao
I feel the same way when 2020 happened, F1 popularity skyrocketed, the introduction of sprint races that got me thinking "Something ain't right..." more so after both 2021 and 2022 happened, it felt more of a brand than a sport to me, that doesn't mean I'll stop watching it, it just feels off.
fully agree, a spot on video, hopefully all the drivers will speak about it unlike george who keeps supporting blindly
It's been WWE since Abu Dhabi 2021
They are destroying the heritage of f1
Great illustration
Abu Dhabi 2021 is when f1 became a sports entertainment gimmick rather than actual sport
Yes F1 was finished a long time ago
I totally agree with you. I have been watching F1 since I was 10. I am now 65. Yes, you do have to change to grow. But don't change the heart and soul out of it. Reading comments, if there is not a crash or drama happening on the track people find it a boring race. Mostly people who just discouvered F1. F1 is not Nescar or Indycar. Both great sports to watch too. But F1 has always been about developping new technics. It doesn't need The all American Sause spilled on it.
A: Yes
As somebody who's been a die hard fan for almost 20 years, I've put up with the additions of DRS, $1 billion star wars engines that put out half the volume, tighter & tighter technical regulations for the engineers to find innovation within, tracks like Sepang & Hockenheim being dropped for more and more street circuits, multiple scandals, and so on.
All points very well said
It needs to be a gimmick because the F1 drive to survive fans think exists and the reality of F1 don’t match up so the newfound interest and fandom will die out over the next few seasons if they don’t ‘create a show’ sad to see
That’s true tbf. They need to sustain that attention.
Tbh, more recently, I've found IndyCar and even Formula 2 and 3 to be more entertaining.
It could EASILY be said Mercedes lost abu dhabi 21 because they ran too long on old tires.
Hamilton had warned them in the race it was a long waynfoe those tires
And the team gambled because they didnt qant to risk the lead
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to many factors involved to just pin it on massi 😂😂😂😂😂
I do not know who this guy is but he has got it spot on 🤗
No idea who I am either 😅
Great vid
If Monaco, Monza and Spa goes off is not F1 anymore
If there are 30 venues is not F1 anymore
If there are added races on Saturday is not F1 anymore
If we are going to unique chasis wouldn´t be F1 anymore
Spot on!
Thanks :)
@@BMPHF1 could not have said it better myself. I’ve been thinking this for a few years now. And boom, you said it.
Its a circus now.
F1 is now a filming set for the Netflix series. When Alonso eventually retires I'll have zero reasons to continue following F1.
Ok boomer 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡🤡
I have been wondering this since Melbourne this year
IMO it's becoming a European version to that of Nascar, because of that I don't watch it as much/ or have the same interest as I did before.
It’s a bit like when the Noah’s Arcade sponsors on Wayne’s World “polished” the Wayne’s World theme song…… Yeeeeaaah… It kind of lost its charm.
One stop races usually turns into snooze fest.
After the great theft of 2021, I stopped watching. Also, the cars are too big and once the sprint races came on the scene, I realized F1 was dying.
We remove spa but keep race in human supressing oil dictatorship so those can have loads of advertisement (qatar, bahrain, abu dhabi, saudi)
OKAY STEFANO
F1 went to the dogs starting at AD 2021
You're right AGAIN!
Lost my love for F1 once they cater to social media and the Netflix fans arrived. Along with the green energy and identity politic grift, while taking money from Saudi and China at the same time.
Watched F1 since 92, too many races now sprints are rubbish. Losing interest quickly understand why verstappen has had enough.
Its the Same everywere. You really Like something than it becoms super Mainstream and it looses its original feeling.
Well sadly these rule changes are also happening in football...
@DoorTechnicanRick guess i'll stop watching football ;(
F1 has definitely become a gimmick
Is there any doubt?
That one time they changed the rules on the last lap of the championship for the show was pretty awful
I can tell your new to watching F1 and most of the comments
Too gimmicky and you open with fast and furious? Each car costs about 28,000,000….per RACE! So when you see the green light, you see the whole fast and furious movie budget get set on fire and gone in 120 minutes. 18 teams times 25 million times how many races a season, 20? Yeah, too gimmicky……maybe remove this video and go grab yourself a bud light.
Get woke, go broke. If he is anything like the leftists I have seen from the states, F1 is doomed.
you weren't even born in 2021? what are you, 12?
Bruh how does this make any sense 😂 Fast and furious was released in 2001. I was born a year later
F1 has nothing to do with a movie franchise 😂😂😂 like saying chocolate tastes like dog shit 😂😂 to funny
F1 is fucking boring...
How did you smash a movie review into this.
Boring
