  • Sorry the color is all weird in this video. I downloaded a new version of my editing software and all my videos look crazy white now. Below are links to resources shown today. Happy homeschooling!

I'm so happy to see this video! I just ordered W&R Fable for my 4th grader.

The more I learn about this the more I’m thinking of making this a summer activity for my current 5th grader. I really appreciate how thoughtful your videos are.

I LOVE Writing and Rhetoric. My 4th grader is finishing Fable this week. I loved it so much that I started my older boys on it. My 9th grader is working through book 4. My 11th grader just started book 5 (but we are going to work very quickly through it, as well as add essay writing in science and history). My oldest has been doing IEW, and I am just so done with using IEW. I feel like every week is the exact same essay, just a different subject. I like that W&R allows for a bit more creativity.

I couldn't agree more! Do you do the lessons with each kid?

@@landofkakiakahomeschool I do. I don't really feel like it takes us too much time. I usually just work one small section at a time, although my older one will be doing more per lesson, because I want him to get through several of the books.

Do you just have him answer the book questions in the notebook? Or have you customized this notebook to match the W&R book? I can't really tell what's written or typed in the book you're showing. But I like the idea of having a notebook where I can add in exercises to match the W&R lesson. Thanks so much!

You said your son has a grammar page every day; which curriculum do you use, besides the Usborn grammar book?

I have a rising 6th grader. Where should I start for Using Writing and Rhetoric ?

I would personally just start from the beginning and go through the first few faster. That’s what we did.

@@kennedygrace7774 We did. Then we just did an hour a day of writing time where we set a timer and worked through the book until the timer went off. I didn't want him to miss anything. He finished that level pretty quickly. You could do three books in a year if you did that, I think. I was going to skip to the third book originally to start him but another mom who uses W&R advised me to start from the beginning and it has gone well for us.
