I have been wanting to try to Berean books just not sure where to start or if it matters I’m not a science or history gal so I feel torn lol. I have a 4th grader

I love your story about homeschooling! Good for you- brave decision!! I was blessed to be surrounded by lots of homeschoolers I could learn from. But what courage it takes at the beginning! I’m with you though, it’s so precious to have that sweet time with the kids. You are figuring it out!

The books look great, but I think elementary science is fine to do for free as well. Library books work great. I split a spiral notebook into Life Science/Earth Science/Physical Science. The kids drew pictures of volcanoes in the EArth section, plant diagrams in Life section, Levers in Physical science, etc. So any books we read can fit into one of those 3 categories, then keep adding from year to year. We got some older textbooks someone set out on a FREE table at a homeschool group. They worked great! Nature studies could be added. So, those books look good, but also be encouraged you really need almost no curriculum to go forward from here & they can get a great education!!. My daughter in 11th had no problem with a college biology class- she knew how to read & learn and write!

Where did you get number stories book 3? I've looked for it but I couldn't find it. It might've been only for sale, not online like 1 and 2.

Have you heard of “Math Mammoth?” Or looked into it. If so what were your thoughts.?

If you have Hoopla, they have a couple of the Berean Builders books to rent as audiobooks.

I hope you enjoy your new books! Our children enjoy reading the Apologia books during quiet reading times...they tend to read them over and over and I think they remember more of them used that way. For group I definitely believe more variety is fun for everyone.

We absolutely love Berean Builders curriculum! (Berean as in the Bible… dig-in and research like the Bereans) 😊 On their website they have online class options, but they can be a bit pricey depending on what “pricey “ is for you

Hi, is there a book or something that teaches "diacritical marks"?

I am not great at language arts. Do you have a PDF copy of the answer key? I am not sure that I have the capacity to create my own at this moment in time. I have three neurodivergent learners and not a lot of time.

Have you heard of Homeschool Hall? Its a really great way to record your stuff online. Its once a year payment, but its really worth it and easy.

MCP Math focuses on making tens and this is how I teach mathematics. In the worksheets it shows base ten rods over and over. It is an underrated program.

The best first year is A First Year in Number. It sets such a solid base. We do R and S Counting with nunbers, CLE K2 which teaches counting and recognition, Number Stories (mainly for fun, but teaches a good base for K), and then we use A First Year in Number...it is the best.

I love watching your content. We are currently using the originals (although I do have the revised editions, also 😬). For spelling, what are your thoughts on using your spelling program while doing reading lessons with originals?

Yes, please for paragraph writing. I really love your stuff. I had a stroke six months ago and I lost all my reading, writing and arithmetic. So I’ve used your inspiration in learning how to relearn my reading and writing. By the way, I’m in first grade reading level now.

I have the same binding machine. I make my own planners and design/sell them to friends. I love my machine. I use laminated cardstock for the front and back covers which works great too.
