You forgot to mention that, while being chased across the country in a van made of pot, they we're also looking for pot to buy basically the whole time lol.
I remember a kid in my 4th or 5th grade class brought the Cheech and Chong album to school and we listened to it during music time. Looking back I bet my teacher had no idea what it was about. I also remember during the “it’s Dave let me in I’ve got the stuff” bit , that kid was laughing hysterically and the rest of us really didn’t know what was going on 😆
As a featured extra, my brother actually worked briefly with Cheech Marin on the set of Nash Bridges. He said he was the nicest and most sedate person ever, 100% opposite of the nerve-wracked dude in the Cheech and Chong comedies...
I remember, I was in 7th grade when a whole bunch of kids got into Cheech & Chong as well as smoking pot, I had never understood it because I never participated in that lifestyle. This was EYE OPENING!!!
Always gives me a laugh when I remember when they were in court and Chong needed water. He ended up with the judge's glass, took a swig, sprayed it out proclaiming "f##kin' vodka!'
I laughed so hard to that scene in the movie "Things Are Tough All Over" where they are stuck in the dessert and Cheech says, "we're gonna die of heat frustration"
I love the bit in Santa Claus and His Old Lady where Cheech says, "Everywhere he went, he ran into too much recession." Tommy says, "You mean too much repression, man." Cheech says, "Repression, recession, it's all the same thing, man."
My dad always loved Cheech and Chong, and I used to watch the movies with him. I later found the albums and found myself laughing at how silly they really are😂
I had the privilege to watch a Cheech and Chong show in late 1972? They had little more than a shower curtain to change behind but the sell out crowd was all in we had a blast! Love and respect them both.
The first 3 movies these guys did are very under-rated. "Nice dreams" and "next movie" are just... just funny. They're funnier than most so-called comedys of the last 40 years and still work today. Despite the dubious subject matter, these guys are geniuses of comedy and they know what's funny and craft their movies that way; which Hollywood generally doesn't.
Ok my favourite Cheech and Chong sketch is definitely Sister Mary Elephant! " Class? Class? Cla..... SHUT UPPPP!". Lol! Man it is bullshit that Chong got prison time for selling bongs!
Strawberry strawberry I wasn't looking at his neck I wasn't looking at his and then you hear kaboom and the feathers flew out the window seeing those feathers fly floored me and if you remember a few years after that on the gong show was the unknown comic who would do a magic trick and pull a bird out of the bag however when he blew air in to the bag and popped it feathers flew out constantly reminding me of Cheech and Chong. 👍
I remember hearing them on cassette tapes and seeing their records on vinyl... I think I heard their comedy before I saw their movies... It was strange to actually see their faces in movies. It was like seeing aliens from outer space.
Chong got screwed. I'm happy he made the most out of his prison sentence but that doesnt change fact that he was a victim of entrapment. The ATF planted people at his company who shipped bongs to Pennsylvania. He does an amazing bit for comedy centrals this cant be happening where he explains what happened
I almost died laughing after hearing one of their tapes where they were on a pirate ship. ''You smell like fish, you big brute!''. Then he started getting flogged and the tone of his voice changed because he liked it. Who cuts your hair? Sargent Stedenko.
7:06 chong is such a badass to take the hit like that. but the deal he had to make makes it clear what they really wanted and how corrupt they were willing to be to get it.
Thomas Chong reached the pinnacle of his music career as part of Bobby Taylor's group, *The Vancouvers* when they signed to Motown Record Corporation's "Gordy" label. If the American recording industry is likened to a skyscraper, then Motown is in the *Penthouse* while all the other labels are down in the *basement.* Chong co-wrote "Does Your Mama Know About Me" with then-future Rare Earth group leader, Tom Baird, that group even had a label named for them. As an aside, the Rare Earth label even issued the last big hit for Aussie group, The Easybeats. Issue R-5009, "St. Louis" c/w "Can't Find Love was sourced from, but not credited to the Australian arm of Polydor Records in 1969.
Two men who could be completely different yet excelling at being the same. That is how comedy works. All the drug references aside. These two had a chemistry that worked.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but Tommy Chong was a member of the Motown one-hit wonder band Bobby Taylor and the Vancouver and co-wrote the song DOES YOUR MOTHER KNOW ABOUT ME.

I was 16 or 17 when that movie came out. I went with my 3 year older sister high to see it. We laughed so hard I’m trying to contain myself now🤣👍🏽 there albums was funny but up in spoke 🤣. Very interesting vid👍🏽
Sleeping Beauty was always a favorite. Everyone I knew were fans long before the movie came out, couldn't believe our luck when we heard about it. As for favorite joke, has to be Dave's not here.

NY recently gained it's cannabis freedom. - Buuuut, there's no place to legally obtain (other than growing your own) and won't be for several years. So, buying and selling within NY is still illegal. - Talk about stupid...

Me and my friend pitched in to buy Big Bambu. Quite salacious in 1970: Utah. As a 9 year old sister mary elephant was so funny. Love these guys. Still when I meet a guy named Dave I say “Dave’s not here.” If they laugh they are good to go.
I know a drug dealer from my home town and he looks like Tommy Chong . They have the same beard , same sunglasses , the same jean jacket and same stoned look . The counterculture was cool then as it is now .
Correction: Big Bambu was not their second effort. Los Cochinos is the second album. It is an iconic album because of its concept of the layout out of an old car door, and when the inner sleeve is pulled from the outer cover. The inner sleeve reveals a montage of pot leaves and stash in the window assembly. Los Cochinos translates to The nasty ones!

@@andywinslow9638 Absolutely! First thing that came to mind, maybe because I quote from it all the time.
