Al Yankovic is a simple kind of man, highly intelligent, talented, genuinely funny, humble, good-hearted, not desperately clinging on fame whatever it takes as many other "stars" do, light years away from stardom, yet he has a great showmanship. He definitely deserves more that he gets.
I remember meeting Al during the Vanity Tour in 2018. He is genuinely one of the nicest people I've ever met. I took the moment to tell him how his work helped me through a rough childhood and still helps me through depression, and upon hearing this his face lit up, genuinely happy to know how much he's helped me. It's a day I wish I could live all over again. Such a great man
I got to take my boys to see Al years ago, and we got nearly front row center seats. I can’t tell you what a treat that was! I believe Al must have gone through 30+ costume changes (yes, the “Fat” suit really does expand during the song!). The band knew every choreography part as were as tight as any band I’ve ever seen. That was a fun night.
Our kid spotted the Weird one behind us at a Stones gig & was just as excited to see him as we were for the band. I told him to ask for a autograph. They were both shy but Al couldn't have been sweeter. A class act.

It's not surprising that he feels a close personal connection to the authors of some of these books. Jon 'Bermuda' Schwartz has been his drummer for the last 40 years!
The most recent thing that Weird Al has done would be the Hamilton Polka. While not a parody, it is a masterwork tribute to all the songs of the musical.
Thats a little wrong, he cares about the mainstream bs to parody it :) Otherwise yes he is happy with whatever spotlight shines on him at the time and entertaining folks.

Saw Weird Al at the Olde Glory Ampitheatre back in maybe 2004 or something, at around 11 or 12 years of age. I echo the sentiments of others on this thread - his giant screens playing AL TV, changing outfits with each song, a long set and TWO encores. A true legend! I've seen hundreds of performances since then, and it is still the best concert I've ever been to. An amazing man, a massive massive influence on my formative self, and hopefully a hero for centuries to come.
Fun fact: Weird Al is also a cartoon voice actor. Among his show credits, he was Wreck-Gar in the 2010-ish Transformers Animated series, which was a role he actually had wanted to do for the 1986 movie.
It was amazing when in 2014, more than 30 years after his first mainstream appearance, Weird Al released all those videos and basically owned social media for a couple of weeks. That was a bold strategy of not releasing them one at a time over a period of months, but dropping a new one daily to build on the hype. Even if he had released all at once, I don't think it would have had the same impact.
Yeah, weird AL is great. I never seen him in concert, but definitely would. I can't wait for the movie. Weird Al is definitely part of the awesome 80s.
A super nice guy, worked hard, has a brilliant mind of creativity which that spark has been going on since than, looks great for his age because he looks twenty years younger than his real age, is healthier than a horse, stays away from drugs, alcohol, refers to avoid the language, eats right and he's still got a full head of long, thick, curly, gorgeous hair. It's official, this man is truly blessed.
Weird Al is a comedic genius. His musical talent is staggering. Plus, he's just a really nice guy. There really has only been one Weird Al, and I doubt there will be another.
Weird Al is an example of what we wish all celebs would be. He is a national treasure. If we had more variety of music in the current popular culture, he might be inspired to create more parodies but sadly, we keep getting the same homogenized music that is almost a parody of itself.
Most people break the mold by being anti-square, yet Yankovic broke the mold by being the biggest square of them all. That is what makes his career so charming and unique to me. If you haven't seen UHF... you're missing out. It's even free to watch on UA-cam. *"Today we are teaching Poodles to Fly"*
He has done a fair share of TV and Voice Acting work over the years too. My favorite is Probabilitor in Gravity Falls: "Dungeons, Dungeons and More Dungeons" . Thanks for the video. Weird Al Yankovic is a National Treasure. May he be and stay well.
I have been laughing to his parodies since I was a teenager. He always comes up with some great and funny songs. I had been wondering what he’d been up to since I haven’t heard any new songs from him. I’m glad he’s doing ok, and thank you for a great video. 👍
My son & I have enjoyed going to a few of his concerts. He not only is one of the nicest person’s you’d ever meet, but he is such a great performer as well! His band is fist rate & they’ve always delivered awesome sounds!
I have been a passive fan of weird Al my whole life, and for a couple years was an active fan. I have owned several cassette tapes and CDs he made. I have known that he was good person for a long time. I hope he comes back to us.
I was lucky enough to see Weird Al in '98 or maybe '99 at the Tennessee State Fair in Nashville. I've been to lots of concerts and seen some of the greatest tour acts, but this was the best show I've ever been to in my life.
Weird Al’s humour is universal. I’ve been pleased to be able to share it with my children, and we have a Weird Al Binge, every so often. My son loves the polka parodies, Amish Paradise and really, every other song is just icing on the cake. Looking forward to new music from Weird Al. 😃
Proof that Weird all is a treasure to all human kind: Name one other artist who has been in the biz for over 40 years with no controversies, no scandals, and the same bandmates since day 1... Don't worry, I'll wait...
Pop "music" does not exist in my universe, so it's probably weird that I'm more familiar with Al's parodies than with the originals. He should adopt a policy that "allows" him to perform parodies of songs from deceased or retired artists, because there are some classic rock and blues songs that just cry out for his treatment. It would also be insanely funny for him to work over some of the decades-old country standards.
He is incredibly nice. When my brother met him my brother accidentally said "you're my biggest fan." Al responded "I am!" Such a beautiful soul ❤️

*at one time he was even in a Flintstone's episode as Al Yankstone...if i remember correctly*
He was also Cheese Sandwich in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
@@KitsuneYojimbo And Milo Murphy in Milo Murphy's Law.
@@GumSkyloard Wait, for real? Hot damn, I thought Milo's voice sounded familiar in that.
He gave my 9 year old a high-five at his concert and it was a highlight of her existence. 💗
I am glad to hear he is still alive and hope he is living a happy life.
Got to meet him on the no strings attached tour. Really nice guy. Very chill and nice
Al did the best Jim Morrison imitation ever in Craigslist.
I love "Amish Paradise"! So cool!!
Weird Al is a awesome man and his music always makes my day. I hope he does well in anything he chooses to do.
If you've never watched his movie "UHF" ... go watch his movie 'UHF."
Saw him in Columbus with my 70 year old dad and my 3 teen kids.
WAS AWESOME!
Al is a comedic staple of the 80’s . And continues to be one in 2021! ✌🏼👏
Weird Al is one of those rare individuals who manage to live life on their own terms and spread joy doing it.
Weird Al isn't who he is. Weird Al is a character Al Yankovich plays.
Good point
Same with Sacha Baron Cohen.
@@twistoffate4791
No, he just plays the same character and is overrated.
Al belongs in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
I've seen Al in concert six times, and would not hesitate to see him again anytime he's in my area. Best concerts ever!
The lyrics of "Bob" would have to be the cleverest even written!!
Weird Al sure is a treasure to happy smiles. I’ve never been to a concert of his but his music never fails to cheer me up and his fans.
Main reason I think we haven't heard in a while is the lack of really good music.
He just did music with Portugal. The man actually
He Was Also Milo Murphy In Milo Murphy's Law not a big fan but the show is a good companion piece to Phineas and Ferb.
He also played in the final episode of Amazing Stories where he played an alien running an intergalactic beauty contest
His name is legend. His accomplishments are immortal. He is Weird Al Yankovic.
He has done a fair share of TV and Voice Acting work over the years too. My favorite is Probabilitor in Gravity Falls: "Dungeons, Dungeons and More Dungeons" . Thanks for the video. Weird Al Yankovic is a National Treasure. May he be and stay well.
He is also wreck gar in transformers animated
I met him when he had a book signing tour. Most gracious man I’ve ever met! ❤️
I have been laughing to his parodies since I was a teenager. He always comes up with some great and funny songs. I had been wondering what he’d been up to since I haven’t heard any new songs from him. I’m glad he’s doing ok, and thank you for a great video. 👍
@Martin Hampson thank you so much for your reply. I hope you have a wonderful day. 🌤
@@sassykaren7587 you are very gorgeous

@@sassykaren7587 my pleasure have a most excellent day and party on dudette
@@tonyacosta4574 Lol…you have a most excellent day as well dude. 👍
The only artist I’ve seen in concert. Love you, Al.
That's why I've always loved Weird Al. You always got the feeling that he was just a nice, chill, funny guy 🙂
My son & I have enjoyed going to a few of his concerts. He not only is one of the nicest person’s you’d ever meet, but he is such a great performer as well! His band is fist rate & they’ve always delivered awesome sounds!
"Why you haven't heard from Weird Al in a while"
yeah I guess a week is a while
October 7 was his last IG post, a gold record for Weezer’s ‘Africa.’
Been a fan since 1993. Saw him once on my birthday, great show. My sister and her friend have spatula tattoos. An ode to Spatula City.
He's very talented. I don't even like music but will listen to his songs.
I think that’s a pretty brave statement man.
I love Al . . .
Honourable gentleman !
Al for president ! ! !
👍 😉
He's voicing a character in a fiction, comedy, audio drama, podcast atm!
I have been a passive fan of weird Al my whole life, and for a couple years was an active fan. I have owned several cassette tapes and CDs he made.
I have known that he was good person for a long time.
I hope he comes back to us.
I've been listening to all his old parody songs on my spotify.
I was lucky enough to see Weird Al in '98 or maybe '99 at the Tennessee State Fair in Nashville. I've been to lots of concerts and seen some of the greatest tour acts, but this was the best show I've ever been to in my life.
The night santa went crazy is my favorite Christmas song ever
Weird Al’s humour is universal. I’ve been pleased to be able to share it with my children, and we have a Weird Al Binge, every so often. My son loves the polka parodies, Amish Paradise and really, every other song is just icing on the cake. Looking forward to new music from Weird Al. 😃
His last tour was fantastic.
He should and definitely deserves a star
I love his sense of humor the song and the story.
Love and admiration.
Dude deserves some time off! He's been putting out quality stuff for decades!
Proof that Weird all is a treasure to all human kind: Name one other artist who has been in the biz for over 40 years with no controversies, no scandals, and the same bandmates since day 1...
Don't worry, I'll wait...
“Weird” Al, you’re still the man.
Most recently he also voiced the titular character for the two-season cartoon series _Milo Murphy's Law_
Ah Yes, That Show Was Great
That and two appearances as Cheese Sandwich on MLP Friendship is Magic
