    This is very relevant at the moment as my friend had his £16,000 Smurf which he bought from the grey market with box, papers, hang tags stop a month ago, he took it to a watch repairer ( not Rolex authorised) to be told the watch is fake. He now cannot get hold of the dealer who in the current market seems to have shut up shop.

      Always put a uv light and a loop on it.

      Ah dang. Should have gotten it checked by a watch maker first before buying 😢.
      You are correct the box and other components (original) can be bought and packaged together with a fake watch.

    If I buy a watch on the grey market and the watch needs servicing why would I be concerned about the original buyer?

      Yes, you can send it directly to the service centre for servicing or send it back to the grey market dealer to take care of it for you. I’m sure they can help out.

      If I live near the service centre fine, but if I need to take it for a service I’m not going to go out of my way to protect the original buyer when they’ve no doubt profited the most

      @ I would further add if you’re flipping watches you have accept the risks and consequences of doing so

    Sadly some AD doesn't give the white swing tags anymore 😥Do u recommend on getting one outside for ur watch or no need?

    • @WatchGuyJay
      @WatchGuyJay  28 днів тому

      No need unless it’s a unique dial. If it is a unique dial you can always take your watch to a watch maker to get the dial authenticated.
      But white tags don’t really make a difference when buying or selling. Unless the person really cares for it.

    I disagree with your answer about where to sell your watches online.
    You mention you can sell it to a grey dealer. They will low ball you as they need to sell it and make their margins.
    However, on fb you are selling to the end buyer so you will definitely get a better price than selling to a dealer.
    Of course there are more risks involved.
