What Elvis did during his last few hours on earth: went to the dentist; played racquetball; sat at the piano and sang "Sweet, Sweet, Spirit" and "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain"; went to his room and prepared for bed; read the morning papers; went to the bathroom, taking with him a book on the Shroud of Turin, called "The Scientific Search for the Face of Jesus"; he never left the room alive. It appears he was thinking of his Lord right to his last moment.
Just look at his face when he listens to the group singing the solo part, he has such a priceless look, such a moving, touching expression. I know Elvis believed in God, and I know where he is right now, he is in God's Kingdom. He gave us so much joy through his music especially his gospel, and he continues to do so.
There is not a doubt that Elvis went to heaven 34 years ago today in my mind.. Elvis loved the Lord. He was not perfect and he knew that, but he knew the Lord Jesus and loved Him. All Elvis ever wanted to do was to sing Gospel. He brought God's music to so many people and ministered to them as well.
do you see how time changed??? Elvis didnt feel ashamed to show his love to the Lord .. in his concerts .. in front of thousands .. and other millions listened and watched movies and videos .. who would do that now ???? Elvis if you can hear me, thank you!! and I love you so much ..
You know, what's amazing to me is sometimes us Christians are bashful, shy, afraid to share our beliefs with others or 2-3 of our friends... Imagine sharing the Gospel with a stadium full of people who came for a secular concert :/ What an example, respect you Elvis.
man....they just don't make em like this anymore. elvis stopped what he was doing to show the world how much the lord loves us. sweet, sweet spirit is one of those songs if you're hurting....you can listen to and be uplifted. it is no wonder, he worshiped Jesus. powerful!
People always forget that Elvis grew up in church and did several gospel albums. No matter ones lifestyle your heart still longs for their peace that comes/came from singing those gospel tunes and really getting back in touch with God. I love his expressions as he's listening to them. Long live the King of the king.
When i was 3 yrs old mama said i would clap my hands and sing this oh ty you god for giving us ELVIS ..HE has showed me the way to the sweet peace of the lord ..AMEN.
The way he just stands there and closes his eyes when they sing...makes me weep. I don't pretend to know whether his heart was given to Christ before his death, but I have hoped so. For someone who so desperately loved to hear and sing Gospel like he did, I hope. He honoured the place where God brought him out of by singing Gospel in concerts. I respect that about him greatly.
"I agree, he is now with Jesus praising His name. Only Elvis had the guts to sing a gospel song at his concerts; what Rock star would do that today? " excellent comment!!
Talent is a blessing. Elvis had more talent in his little finger than any performer today. Don't judge him unless you're willing to be judged by the same measure. Of course, he loved the Lord.
It shows how much Elvis loved and respected the gospel music. It is nice to see him enjoying that moment, what a lovely man he was.I will see him in heaven.
This song testifies how much Elvis loved his fans - he wanted so much the fans to experience the "sweet, sweet spirit" that he felt. He was not preacher and he didn't impose his religious belief on his fans but in his special way, he had certainly helped people to believe in God and Jesus Christ. I guess that's one of the reasons his fans seem to have undying love for him - it's his love and kind feelings he had for his fans and his fellowmen that his fans cannot forget.
How glad we are to make this sweet spirit lead us through our life if we let him do this and believe in Jesus and in what He had said and done! When He left this world He gave us His spirit for help, advice and support, and He still does! This is one part of the Good Gospel News. Thanks to Elvis for letting perform The Stamps and thank you for sharing!
I tell you a truth people.I actually cried a bit now when i saw this.I always do.My own spirit responded to this song.I was reminded by Father about what is important in this earthly life and it is looking for Him and all that is from Him,Amen. This way Father makes Himself knows to me always.I love Him from all of my heart, all of my soul, all of my energy, all of my understanding, all of my Love.Love thy neighbour as Christ, the Son loved even the most sinful,Amen.Shalom :)
Watching Elvis be moved by beautiful music makes me cry. I love the Lord and thank him for putting people Like Elvis in our lives. And beautiful music. God bless us all.
Elvis is the only singer ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Country Hall of Fame, and Rythym and Blues Hall of Fame. All Four.
Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone !!!! Great to see Elvis of course. I was also so glad to see how a song, can really bring us into the (Spirit of Praising) our Lord !
Why would you say such a thing? Elvis' music is timeless, his voice unsurpassed, and he is the entertainer of the century. He has fans of ALL GENERATIONS sweetie.
Wonderful video! I love this scene from "Elvis On Tour". He listened to them with so much respect. Amazing!! And J.D. Sumner had a really great bass voice. I'm sure Elvis also knew the song... So beautiful! R.I.P. sweet soul, the world will never forget you!! Betti
The look on Elvis' face when they hit that high note, I think you can see how much he loved the Lord, & truly loved Gospel music. He was a victim of his own fame. I will ALWAYS love Elvis!
Elvis is The King of Music. No other singer comes anywhere close to him. He is the only singer able to sing in different styles of music, including pop, gospel, rock, country and etc. If it was not for Elvis, singers and bands like Michael Jackson, Beatles and others would not have existed. Look what happened to the beatles. Eventhough they couldn't sing because of Elvis era they became famous
Let me assure you that Elvis is in Heaven. It is God's promise that once we are saved God never lets us go....From what I heard Elvis was saved. and though his addictions end his life on earth scripture says he is home with the lord
Elvis had the most talented background singers in the business. There was no coincidence why they all wanted and enjoyed working with Elvis. Elvis truly had an amazing ear for music and talent.
I'm totally with you. This celebrity worship is blinding everyone on here. It doesn't matter if you grew up in church or sing gospel music: that's not what makes a person saved or a candidate for heaven. I'm surprised how many people who claim to be Christian don't realize that.
Can you imagine any of the modern rockers today bringing a concert to a halt in front of 15,000 people to introduce this..? The reverence Elvis had for all music, especially his roots, is awesome.
This is such a beautiful song it reminds me of when i was a teenager my brother also sang along to this and my Mum, I dedicate this song to my brother who passed away two years this sunday at the age of 49, we all miss you so much there is a big space in our hearts,xx
Elvis would always sing 🎶 gospel music from his Heart ❤️ I know that Elvis Love the Lord .God Bless him and his family and his Band and their families.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was there that night in 1972. But I did not see him perform as I was assigned to traffic control outside the arena. I was a police officer for the Honolulu PD. The show was a benefit and officers that night had volunteered to work without pay. Fifteen years earlier I did see him perform at Conroy Bowl in Schofield Barracks. Paid one dollar for the ticket for another of his benefit shows.
Elvis could have converted the world with his influence and I believe he really wanted to be a true christian. He just could not find the strength to let go of the world and the drugs. Awsome talent and vocals though. I was alive when he was still alive but too young to realize who he really was.
So, so beautiful. Elvis only had the best musicians and singers to support him, and The Stamps were amazing. I get emotional just watching the joy that this brings to Elvis, as he listens to The Stamps sing.
Those special moments in the life of Elvis did not disclose on television. You know why? because it exalts the name of the Lord the tremendous all-powerful God that Elvis is bent to worship in their moment of reflection and submission. Oh this video shows how Elvis acknowledged this. All the glory belongs to this wonderful God! Income is He! Mírian Rangel - V.Velha/ES/Brasil
Elvis loved to hear J.D. sing. What a voice J.D. had and Elvis loved having J.D. in his shows. I wish Elvis had recorded more Gospel music than he did.
We don't express our love for Lord God by feelings or by speaking about Him,only, instead, We express our love for God by serving Him and obeying Him. No matter how deep we claim to love God, if we don't serve or obey Him, we make ourselves liers and we don't walk in thrut.
Esses momentos especiais na vida de Elvis não se divulga na televisão. Sabe por que? porque exalta o nome tremendo do Senhor o Deus todo-Poderoso que Elvis se encurvava para adorar no seu momento de reflexão e submissão. Ai neste vídeo mostra o quanto Elvis reconhecia isto. Toda a glória pertence a este Deus maravilhoso! Renda-se a Ele também!
Yes, Elvis loved hearing Gospel Songs. And yes, I feel that he was a Christian too. Cowboy, you know that christians are not perfect-just forgiven by a merciful God of Grace.
I think Elvis was ready to go home he was tired of all the people that were using him to get money ,Like his wife, managerand record people. he has finally found peace with Jesus. Jesus gave him to us and people abused him for profit and Jesus took him away. Thank you Jesus for giving him peace.
this is the top off the world! elvis, you are so great! the people behind you are the greatest! elvis , you had the biggest industrie in the world!!!!!!!!!
i have heard that this was elvis' favorite gospel song. it holds a special place in my heart also. i was in our high school a'capella choir and after every concert or when we would return from every contest, we would gather in a huge circle with our arms around each other and sing this song. i love music and i love elvis!
Crazy, I enjoy Elvis interpretation of Gospel Music. It's a tradegy that a man like Elvis with the knowledge he had of God did what he did-take his own life. What does the Bible states about those who take their own lives?...like I said, it's a tradegy.
Only a true christian understands what "Sweet Sweet spirt" means. I pray that everyone reading this accepts Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and is filled with the Holy Spirt. Amen
As we know now, a member of each groups who used to sing with Elvis on stage, "Stamps, Imperials, Jordanners, Voice..." Was pickt to sing couple of gospel song, in the piano room at Graceland, on August,16th 1977. Sweet sweet spirit was one of them. I love this song, i Love Elvis... We miss you so much. As you say, "Lucaprimo" is a verry emotional moment. Thank you to post that video on UA-cam. God bless you.

absolutely beautiful i use to sing in 3 choirs there are no words on earth that can describe the feeling that the words alone make you feel the ascension like this does
WOW!! i have heard the audio but dont think I've seen that video....wow, I am really grateful that we can see old pics of him, because i missed them when I was young. I think he really was a true christian in his heart.
A GREAT spiritual song by the Stamps , done here on April 9 , 1972 eve. show . They actually performed this song several times in the '70s . They did it in Feb. '73 , Mar.'75 , Dec. '75 , May '76 and May '77 .
I heard them do this live before and you could hear a pin drop in the place...also you could really feel the spirit moving...I can't even express the feelingl

Elvis wanted to do a Christian Tour only,, someone said to him people would not show up. I think he would of packed all the places with Gospel music..
man....they just don't make em like this anymore. elvis stopped what he was doing to show the world how much the lord loves us. sweet, sweet spirit is one of those songs if you're hurting....you can listen to and be uplifted. it is no wonder, he worshiped Jesus. powerful!
How dare you judge Elvis! All believers struggle with sin, Elvis' faith in Christ was strong and real!
Elvis and JD were two of the most uniquely talented people on earth.
I respect that about him greatly.

the only reason i listen to gospel music is elvis!anything he sang was beautiful!!!
We sang this song, as a family, at my wedding. It was the perfect song to celebrate the blessing of a new life and also to sing for what we stood for.
It shows how much Elvis loved and respected the gospel music. It is nice to see him enjoying that moment, what a lovely man he was.I will see him in heaven.
Trivia. Elvis won only one Emmy. Not for what made him famous, but for a gospel album.

Elvis always praised the Lord 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
He did this, at anytime. He loved gospel, and wanted the Stamps fame to grow. He wanted others to go to in the faith of the Lord.

Elvis came from the bottom & rose to # 1....that's saying a lot !
This is one of my favorites. Surely the Spirit of the Lord was present. Elvis was a humble light to millions.
In YOUR little world maybe. Personally I'm glad that this guy died before I was born.
Let me assure you that Elvis is in Heaven. It is God's promise that once we are saved God never lets us go....From what I heard Elvis was saved. and though his addictions end his life on earth scripture says he is home with the lord

The King of Rock & Roll worshiped the King of Kings!

This is Elvis! Very sensitive, very emotional moment for him and for me too!!! I love you Elvis, wherever you are!! I´ll never forget you!!!

Its music that floods into your entire body...not just thru your ears, but somehow through your skin. God Bless

Elvis himself once said to the effect...... " I would quit rock to sing full time gospel, but, it would put too many people out of work."
ELVIS WAS IT!!...HE WAS BLESSED BY GOD WITH SUCH AN AMAZING INSPIRING VOICE THAT TOUCHED MANY EVEN UNTIL THIS DAY!!...bless him.....

Yeah,
Elvis will always be in our hearts and souls.
I dedicate this song to my daughter Louisa S.
Elvis , The Best !
One of his best performances even though he doesn't sing in it.
The Gaither's do an hour long show on GMC from time to time featuring Elvis' gospel singing. It is fantastic and very moving.
SIMPLISMENTE MARAVILHOSO,
i enjoyt to see how elvis loved to hear this song sung by his band :)
Powerful!
It's amazing how Elvis could display such greatness through a song without singing a word. The stamps and Elvis were absolutely magic together.
