Did experimentation with this well over a year ago during the time I was creating Firestick DeBloat methods. My discovery was nevr use this option on the Gen 2 Sticks as it greatly hindered operation creating lag time. However the Square worked well & the 4K Sticks. Discovered loss-less up to 18 inches & only slight loss at 2 feet but do not exceed this distance.
Have since quit experimenting with Sticks as max'ed them & have a full upgraded Shield Pro so turned attention to the Google O/S on Smart TV's. I have a Sony 75" Bravia X90J operating almost as well as an NVidia Pro. Trick is to use a high speed USB3.1 drive such as the Samsung 64GB with a speed above 250MB/s, in Developer Mode & an Ethernet cable attached to the 3.0 USB port.

@@cwtek1 The 2021 Sony Smart TV with the Google O/S has a usb2.0 identified as gray interior tab & a usb3.0 interior tab color blue. When you have high speed Internet, plug in a usb3.0 x ethernet adapter into the blue tab usb3.0 port with an ethernet cable ran from your router, this will allow you internet speeds exceeding the 10/100 speed which is the Sony ethernet connection used in this TV. I use a UGreen usb3.0 hub which allows me to use a bluetooth mouse & plug in the Samsung Bar usb3.0 64GB flash drive with a speed of 250MB/s which is a speed you need with this OS to achieve a loss-less no lag drive expanding the Sony Smart TV 4.4GB drive. Format the Samsung usb3.0 flash drive within the TV in Settings/System/Storage.
Put the TV on Developer Mode 1st. Now when you download apps, they are automatically placed in the expanded usb3.0 Flash Drive. But you can move them to Internal Storage & I recommend doing so only with the Paid VPN. (IPVanish).
You are able to use the Google O/S on the Smart TV as a Media Streaming device as you would a Firestick or NVidia Shield Pro which I also have attached on the HDMI 2.1 port using a separate ethernet connection. The Android version is 10, this is superior to every Firestick which contains a 6 for the 4K & a 7 for the Max. My download speeds are above 400MB/s & using IPVanish above 140MB/s. Best practice is to use the Split Tunneling feature & check all the boxes of all System Processes, Apps which are legal access like Disney/Prime/HBO+/TUBI & leave unchecked all your Internet Browsers (I use Brave & TV Bro) because of the ad blocking & apps for streaming media like KODI, Cinema, BeeTV, Nova & any IPTV's such as USA TV & Radio.
The reason I use the UGreen USB3.0 Hub is adding a mouse & keyboard. DO NOT attach the Ethernet Cable to the USB 3.0 HUB & attempt to use the usb3.0 connection on the Sony TV with both ethernet & USB Flash Drive, The TV will fail to use the ethernet properly & the ethernet cable must be singularly attached to the TV's usb3.0 port.
End Result which is the important part, this O/S actually requires zero adjustments. It is fast & smooth. The TV will go into full restart with the O/S when you start up the TV after sitting unused off. You can add apps at will, although some will not register such as the Brave browser or another good 1 which is Vivaldi or Opera GX (these require a mouse & are not meant for use on an Nvidia or Google Smart TV O/S but will run perfectly.
I collaborated with UK Tech Doc sending him the Amazon O/S Debloat methods I had been using for almost a year with ADB to stop Firestick updates & he used these to create the DeBloatware Tool although in version 4 there are 93 boxes & I advise using only 78 of them. I also created the methodology to DeBloat the 15 processes in the Gen 2 Firestick & was the 1st to DeBloat the Square Firestick. UK Tech Doc did an excellent job creating the program which uses the methodology in a simple easy to understand check box design.
The Great thing about the Google O/S is I actually see no need to Debloat this O/S especially since it Full Restarts after sitting unused. I have not yet tried the DefSquid program on the O/S. I do use AdGuard, Background Apps & Processes List, Plex, VPNSafetyDot & FileSynced.
Still experimenting but I would tell people that with a Smart TV which has the Google O/S, you do not need to purchase an additional streaming device as long as the TV has a usb3.0 port & another USB port. Fantastic would be if Sony upgraded their ethernet connection to a 10/100/1000 & had 2 usb3.0 ports.

BTW, 1 unique thing is you can also have the Wifi running as well as using the ethernet at the same time plus Cast to TV.
Would like to see you experiment using the new Google Smart TV O/S & do a video(s) on them.

What do you suggest buying a whole new cord when you yourself used a $1 female to female adapter on a regular hdmi?

    • @cwtek1
      @cwtek1  Рік тому +1

A male to female cord is better as there are less joins in the cable.

Do think this would work with a 6 or 10 foot extender? The signal one room over (a mostly unused guest room) is far better than the main bedroom which basically can't connect at all. So I was thinking to connect the guest room stick to the main bedroom tv if that makes any sense.

My wifi router is at the very front of my house. I want to watch TV in the backyard at gate where the backyard ends. What can I buy that's long enough to be as close to the wifi box as possible?

Hey, can you offer any advice? My 4K Max firestick hasn't ever had any Wifi Problems (Always a stable 200Mbps speed on the test) but yesterday and today the firestick isn't getting speeds of over 80Mbps, it's only 7 feet away from the router. The speedtest on my phone and laptop are still 200Mbps, and my other firestick lite is also getting 200mbps. (Tried rebooting everything and switching from 5Ghz to 2.5Ghz etc) Is there anything else I can try? :)

    • @cwtek1

Put your connection back to 5ghz as it’s faster, try changing channels on your Wi-Fi router to see if there are any channels that work better, you will need to refer to your Wi-Fi routers manual or manufacturer for details on how to change channels.
