The first time mine got my attention was when I went to my locker at work and had no keys. I realized I just rode my Pan Am without my key fob and personal keys. It was a low battery in the fob. No one believes it, I'm 100% certain it happened, and the fob was far enough away from the bike that it never should have started up that morning.

Supposedly the rfid chip in the fob is not linked to the battery. I had numerous problems along the same line. Ultimately they changed my fob.

Taking mine in this week to get the fob replaced! Ton's of problems masked by faulty fobs I think

I have a Street Glide Special and when the battery gets low in the FOB it tells me on the bike screen.
Says "Fob Lo Batt" or something like that. Basically it tells me when the battery is getting low in the FOB.
Searching through the Pan America owner's manual it makes no mention of a low battery warning for the FOB however it does say to replace the battery in the FOB every 12 months.
I also notice it uses the CR1632 battery which are tiny. Not surprised they only make it a year. I have a couple devices that use the 1632 batteries and they do not last as long as the larger 2032's.

Exactly, I have a street glide special as well, haven't seen that come up yet, but that's an amazing feature that if they have the capability, should be included in every bike that requires the fob! I replaced the battery in the fob for the PA and its working like a dream now!!

Key FOB has zero to do with hard starts.
