I had both, but sold the Oneplus. Hinge is little worse on Oneplus. I miss Android Auto on the V2. Display was better on the Oneplus, but the weight and thin profile of the V2 hooked me! Software is fine. Battery on V2 is also great!
Global version of V2 (i.e. sold for UK) does have full Android Auto capability. What isn't very positive is that like the OnePlus Open, it has a glitch that may more often than not disconnect either phone from your Android Auto screen interface. I've tried both UK spec phones on four seperate screens and ALL had the same problem.
Both phones offer pen support, although most users don't use pens. The pens are proprietary, so you have to buy their pens. OnePlus works with the Oppo pen, as the Open is merely a rebranded Oppo Find N3. However, the multitasking capabilities of the OnePlus Open are fantastic, in my opinion. That being said, there's no better feel in the hand than the Honor Magic V2.
I agree with you my friend...pen support is good but till they become like s23 ultra where the pen is integrated in the phone the pen won't be a big selling point..but it's always good to know it will work also the cost of getting them separate are quite high...that said magic V2 is stunning in the slim body I'm still in awe abou the design. Multitasking open plus has just nailed it
I wish Samsung Fold 6 looks like the Honor, it will be game changing for sure, with OneUI and that design and that form factor with SD3, whoa, pls Samsung pls do it or at least come close as possible to Honor's design!!!!
The Honor Magic v2 will go on sale in Germany on January 26th. Can we assume that there will be a global ROM by then? Chinese Rome doesn't suit me. Thanks to Nokia, the OP Open is not available in Germany😭
Initially it was coming 1st quarter of 2024. Now there is a delay. So i think it wont be coming unfortunately. Atm the best choice for global Foldable phone is the OnePlus Open.
I am currently typing off my new OnePlus Open, and it is AWESOME. I just bought it as an upgrade for my 3-year-old Z Fold2, and I actually did want the HONOR Magic V2 but by the time I saved up the money to buy a new phone (a few days ago,) HONOR still has yet to announce a firm release date for the global version of the Magic V2, it was a no-brainer, the Open became my choice, and holding it next to my old Z Fold2, it's crazy how much folding phones have improved (except for Samsung) since then. It may not be THE slimmest or lightest foldable, but coming from the Z Fold, it is just SO NICE to have a front display that I can actually use and type on if I want. A lot of people complain about the camera bump, but tbh, not only is it not obnoxious at all when actually using the phone, but it actually helps you get a firm grip on your phone when using the front display, and because it's a symmetrical bump, there's barely ANY wobble when laying flat on a table, especially when compared with most other foldables. The software is amazing, too, so I can absolutely recommend the Open over the Z Fold5 especially,. If you're outside of China and don't want to wait on HONOR to release the V2 globally right before they announce and launch their next generation, then I would say that the Open is the best foldable phone choice you can buy right now.
Hi. First of all let my congratulate u for making the right decision. Oneplus Open is the phone to get. And its my daily driver as well. The Global ROM along with software makes it the better option compared to Honor Magic V2. Honor is a great phone as well. And as u mentioned bang on camera as well. Yes, they are huge but since they are in the centre no desk wobble when typing which is a huge bonus also the periscope zoom which is great as well. Overall i would say you have made a very good decision. And do subscribe to my channel as well if you haven't done so. thanks again mate.
Sure I'll throw you a sub :) good review and comparison. The only thing I noticed that you said that was incorrect is that the phones can open to any angle, and that's not true for the Open because of the way it snaps all the way open to a flat 180° when you have it open just past that 90° angle. It really doesnt matter since 99% of the time, you're going to be using the phone either folded or open all the way, but it's still worth noting that you cannot hold the phone open at any angle. I was actually planning on getting the Magic V2 if it was out when I had the $ to buy a new phone, but it wasn't, so I got the Open and I have 0 regrets.
Hi. thanks for the Subs. yes, I should have mentioned that anything over around 120 degrees the phone just does not hold, but again most/all people wont be using it in that angle, but its worth mentioning. Thx again mate.
How long have you had the open? I've a z fold 3 for two years, and it's been incredibly reliable and build quality, I can't fault whatsoever as I've actually knocked mine around hugely. Google One plus open issues/problems on reddit seem to bring up quite a few issues. What's your take on build quality, warranty and known issues? I'm asking as looking to upgrade I like the one plus open a lot, but I know as a 5th Z fold, Samsung is hugely experienced in build quality. For an expensive device that is the most important aspect for me.
@@1bz2002 Hi. Ive been using OnePlus open from the time it was launched say around 3-4 months. I've never had any issues. Everything just works smoothly without any issues. And also the build quality is the same from the time I have got it so it's solid. Given a choice between OnePlus open and fold 5 IMO I would pick OnePlus open without any hesitation.that said Z fold 5 is also a good phone no doubt. If you use Dex a lot then Z fold 5. fold 5 is a good decent phone, certainly not the best. it falls short in the narrow front screen, camera, battery. That said if there is one company which can dominate the fold market is Samsung. Samsung has a winner in their hands, if they can tweek certain things they are unbeatable.
@Cool_Saf actually narrow screen is opinion and camera the fold 5 takes better pictures then the one plus open night pictures are better on the fold 5 now battery yeah the one plus open has let me see fold 5 has better multi tasking, features, ui , s pen , samsung dex ,
