Hi Seth, I was a chair maker in NSW Australia for many years back in the 80s. Man I feel old writing that. Your work is fantastic and you would have easily landed a job in our family furniture business. Well done. James the One Handed Maker
Great work on these chairs. Would love to see some videos on the construction of your slot mortiser. Or at least an in depth "tour" of it. Marc has good videos but yours are right there with him! Great job and thanks for sharing!!
Wow! Thanks Andrew! A lot of people have asked me about that mortiser, and I have been debating whether to do a version 3.0 and make a build video. A tour of it might be a good option
Nice work! Your chairs look great. I bought this guild project also, but I haven't come up with the courage to build them yet. I think they are a bit above my pay grade.
The seat cushions are actually pretty comfortable and my wife is happy with them as-is, but I’m sure they will still be comfortable with a 3” foam. And yes, I’ve been recording everything with my bench build. There will be some detailed videos coming out.
I used a piano hinge and a couple drafting table style casement stays, here’s the link, but I will say that they do have more slop in them than I like. www.amazon.com/dp/B004HAFK72/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1-xsFbFJ0A71V
After reading further comments, a tour of the mortiser would be a great watch, thanks again
I rebuilt it and have a build video (and plans) out now

Thanks Jack!

@@EastOakWoodworking do both!
All I ever wanted was to make furniture. Studied interior design. 6 years after finishing, haven't made a single piece😂😂
Definitely agree on the seat cushions. They’re a little thick. Turned out beautiful otherwise. I have those same chairs on my to build list.
The funny thing is, I hate how the cushions look, but they’re pretty comfortable
East Oak Woodworking they would be comfortable for sure. Like sitting on a cloud

It sat on my to-do list for 3 years!
Great end result - maybe the seat cushions will be super comfortable? Will you be doing a video on the workbench? Cheers

Given that it took a while to build the chairs, how long before you replace the cushions? Great videos! Thanks for sharing your hard work with us
I’m going to let them get a little use before I change them out, but not too long. Probably after I finish my current work bench build
Hey dude, what hardware you using for the tilting mechanism on your mortiser? Ive build one similar and would love to add that feature to mine. Thanks

Chairs are beautiful except for the cushions. Vinny 🇺🇸
