I think Merrow is one of the greatest rythmic guitarists I've ever listened to. Not just for his playing, but also for the way he composes. He thinks different. Best piece of metal of all times. Very well done, dude.
He thinks about structuring metal songs the way a drummer would. The repetitions are carefully considered, everything flows and fits together perfect. It's an obsession.
Ethan Vawter To be fair to an extent they do, you have to agree that if you're playing guitar enough certain patterns or shapes stick in your head, and there seems to be some sort of misconception that if you know theory then you just like lose all creativity and just do things because you feel that's how it should be theoretically, where as in reality that's not true in the slightest. I know a lot of theory but I don't write purely through it, I'll just kind of analyze what I'm doing as I'm going and know how to achieve certain sounds that I want to continue on to
Can we just a second to appreciate how far this man has come! Look at this video. The era the 7 string the sound. Now a schecter musician with is own guitar line. All from some youtube videos that if you were lucky enough to find in mid 2011 era. Thanks for the journey Keith. Still hands down my favorite guitarist.
It's funny because even though Jeff's solo is intense; the riff after the solo is better. Way to go, Keith. Honestly, that's one of the best riffs I've ever heard.
You and Jeff man. For years I've looked for music as great as PanterA, Old Megadeth, Nevermore, Tool, Type O negative, Carcass... Notice a trend? Most of these bands don't exsist anymore, or their current stuff isn't that great. However you sir have nailed it with this, spice dealer and conquering dystopia. You two have instantly become my favorite duo equaled to mustaine and friedman. Keep up the good stuff brother!
Keith n Jeff are not only amazing players but great composers..the atmosphere that they create is impossible..you guys can check out 'Sithu Aye' and 'Widek' if you guys haven't already..i have recently discovered those two..very impressive
Cheers brodda!..Have u checked out the album of Steven wilson's project with Guthrie '' the raven that refused to sing'' ..highly recommended..and check out this kid in youtube called Matt Rach..he got some some crazy talents in composing..Truely remarkable
This was the first song by Keith Merrow that I heard... Electricity run through me and my head went giddy. Thought I was the nymph and that heart was mine) Awesome music. Neverending thanks from a Russian.
Hell yeah...I always feel like listening to the songs multiple times because there's just so much going on I always hear something different the 2nd time around.
After 8-9 solid years of listening to this track, i feel the need to comeback and say that its balls-out insane how well all those RIFFS bond with each other. Technical as fuck but it doesn't sacrifice the feeling one bit, AND heavy without sacrificing melody at all. Composition is out of this world 🤯
Dat riff after the solo 0_o .....EPIC!
Repeated 99999 times
Fuck yeah. @ Jason- Same here.
that solo O_O its amazing if u actually see jeff play it
BlizzarDofBabyloN 🤘🏼😈
I think Merrow is one of the greatest rythmic guitarists I've ever listened to. Not just for his playing, but also for the way he composes.
He thinks different. Best piece of metal of all times.
Very well done, dude.
Hes like the version of Jeff Loomis that doesn't play solos
He thinks about structuring metal songs the way a drummer would. The repetitions are carefully considered, everything flows and fits together perfect. It's an obsession.
@@DantesTimeshare Yup, basically percussively
Even after all of these years, this song still hits as hard as the first day I heard it.
Keep it up Keith!
I could listen to Keith and Jeff all day.
I seriously don't get how these guys come up with all these riffs.
They must play guitar 38 hours a day.
they do. and they know music theory
putrifaction wubs keith doesnt know much theory
wait what o-o
players like him and Ola Englund (who doesnt know any at all) base it all on sound. Thats that little bit extra that sets them apart Imo

can i just jump in here late as fuck in 2022 and say WHAT A BANGERRRR. LAY IT ON ME KEITH
guitar playing is not just about soloing.
Riffs can be even much more important than solos.
Julian F. Style Old channel most of the times they are.
Here I am 30 years old and I never thought that at 21 I would have enjoyed this more than now. It's still just as mind blowing. 🤘
Same here brother. I'm 30 yrs old too now.
wow, here I was thinking I'd be alone in remembering these awesome times in our 20s. I could listen on repeat back in the day.
i think after 3:25 he getting a revenge of marvelous solo by awesome riff :)
i agree
It's actually one of the best riffs I have ever heard.
I keep coming back for it Haha

Keith is an exceptional rhythm player. Not many can keep up with Jeff loom is.😊
dude!!!! that outro riff goes so fucking hard!!!!
it truly is....
+Christopher Nick Literally drives me crazy so insane, powerful, ruthless
Diabolical
When I think of Keith Merrow I think of that riff lol
so much humble. so much brilliance. too much rad.
This really says everything that's need saying in just a few words.
Brilliant.....
This song reminds me a bit of Opeth. Amazing song.
Really? Mikael could never pull this off lol.
Jokes aside, Opeth has never been this technical, but maybe the intro riff does sound a bit like Opeth.
Nicolas Arango Perhaps Not as technical but can Really write some Great Epic Stuff. ** Personally** (^-^)
Opeth definitely has songs more technical than this, "Hex Omega" comes to mind
Mossbot you would classify hex omega technical as in for Opeth? I’d say another song but I’m curious because I love that song
It's funny because even though Jeff's solo is intense; the riff after the solo is better. Way to go, Keith. Honestly, that's one of the best riffs I've ever heard.
I love all of these riffs so melodic and thrashing at the same time.
Dude you are a monster...that riff could kill people!
hahahahaha
+Zombie & Dolphin it have me cancer!
Jon Samuel, if I was a villain, that final riff would be my theme as I slay all the heroes.

Absolutely man, these guys together are absolutely stunning.
Dude i agree with you 100% hearing their music restores some of my faith in musicianship.
Keith n Jeff are not only amazing players but great composers..the atmosphere that they create is impossible..you guys can check out 'Sithu Aye' and 'Widek' if you guys haven't already..i have recently discovered those two..very impressive
Wow. That was great stuff Navid, thanks fur the recommendation!

I've been listening to this mythical track for 13 years, great inspiration
This tune still rocks!!!
i love how natural and fluid this song looks, feels, sounds, appropriately named and severely under rated
This was the first song by Keith Merrow that I heard... Electricity run through me and my head went giddy. Thought I was the nymph and that heart was mine) Awesome music. Neverending thanks from a Russian.
Great tune! My favorite.
Favorite Merrow song. That's my fuckin jam.
This is the the best song ever written✅🤘🏼⚡️🤘🏼🔥
You say you can't play Jeff Loomis' solo. The stuff you play right after his solo, though, is some crazy shit.
This is electrifyingly good...the riffs in this are beyond this planet

11 years old and it's still something I listen to on repeat
One of my best finds in music!

Holy crap I go that shivers up the neck feeling when listening to this
Это звучит и смотрится роскошно! Музыканту аплодирую стоя! Солист , браво!
After 8-9 solid years of listening to this track, i feel the need to comeback and say that its balls-out insane how well all those RIFFS bond with each other.
