I went to school with a lad, whose father was driving the tipper lorry that demolished the Grimsby road footbridge, I seem to remember he lost his arm in the collision, he had forgotten to lower the tipper as I remember it. Archer was then the youngest ever MP elected to the House I think he was 22, if memory serves me. The loss of the East Lincolnshire Railway was a devastating blow, not just for Louth, but the whole county, with the exeption of Grimsby to the north and Boston/Skegness to the south the railways were left with nothing east of Lincoln. The original trackbed north from Firsby is still pretty much intact up to Louth and also the southern half of the Mablethorpe loop, and could be reinstated if the will were found, although the Boston to Spalding section is now the A16 relief as has happened with sections in Grimsby.
Wonderful to see this brings back so many memories of my younger days and good old Louth. Thank you

A town the size of Louth without a rail connection since 1970. It's terrible. Something should be done about that.
Can't get over how young Jeffrey Archer looks!
