I just started walking - i'm on my 8th week now. Started at 3k steps a day! I'm pretty sedentary with only 1.5k steps on a normal day so I just wanted to double that. This week is week 8 of my walking and I'm already averaging 10k steps a day! I've lost 13lbs and 5 inches off my waist ❤ I'm so proud of myself lol seriously though walking feels great!!!

Walking after a meal is the #1 tip that I continue to read and hear about to help stabilize blood sugar and avoid spikes. I have recently been more conscious about trying to do this since I am in the prediabetic range. Great job continuing to keep it fresh and challenge yourself. We can do hard things!

My Fitbit helps so much with counting steps! Also I really enjoy "Grow with Jo" walking workouts as an easy way to get in steps - especially when it's cold or rainy.

In 2009 at the age of 56 and heavy most of my life, I decided to stop yo-yo dieting up and down up and down and rejoined WW for the last time weighing in at 235 lb wearing a size 22 pants and in about a year and a half I lost 115 lb and I have kept it off ever since and actually have lost an additional 10 maintaining a weight of 110 lb. During my losing stage I kept active and I ended up buying a mini trampoline and I faithfully did 10,000 steps a day mostly on my trampoline which was easy on my body and helped me keep toned which you know all about and losing more than half my body weight I needed to firm up. Of course I have some loose skin but the trampoline really helped and what I loved about it was instead of sitting in front of the TV and making trips to the cupboard or fridge... I kept active on my trampoline and it really helped me. I have my trampoline still and I use it when the weather is bad or in the winter but now I walk whenever I can in my community out in the fresh air and I've been getting between 7,500 and 10,000 or more steps a day. I'm 71 and I feel 40. I try to keep active with gardening and projects around the house like painting outdoor furniture and even building two little easy to do patios and it's helped me so much and I don't feel any aches and pains. I can go to Home Depot and get and load 20, 20 lb. pavers into my car by myself because I try to be very independent! I would never have been able to do this with an additional 125 lbs. on me! And throughout this whole thing I have owned a Fitbit originally I wore the Fitbit One on a clip attached to my bra but now I have a Fitbit Inspire 3 and wear it on a wristband and the app is on my phone also. I no longer track points it's easier for me to track calories every day I've been doing it so long and I eat practically the same things every day and in 2009 I became a vegetarian and love vegetables and I do try to eat high fiber and protein with low fat. I love your channel and I get so many tips and especially food and snack tips which I love. You guys are so great... keep on doing what you're doing... and congratulations with your new house. 👍💗😊
    Sending hugs and blessings
    ...Linda

When I was going through some really tough times my Doctor suggested I start walking to help reduce the stress. Next thing I knew I was walking between 35 - 40 miles a week and buying new tennies every couple of months. It was very helpful, I was toned and slim. Since I have developed arthritis I miss it very much. I purchased a rebounder and it is nice on my feet. Good for you!

Your videos find me when I need them those! I joined a weight watchers and watch so many of your videos for tips and tricks and was successful, unfortunately I have since fallen off the train but I'm trying to get back on! Walking is my first step in that! Thank you for always having inspiring but not intimidating videos! 💙

I had an Apple Watch for about 6 years and it really motivated me to be more active. I replaced it with a Garmin watch 3 months ago and love it even more. It has a better battery life so I’ve been able to wear it at night which has allowed me to also track my sleep.

Nikki I think it’s great that you could get a lot of your steps outside and surrounded by nature on trails and in parks. I am envious - I live in the city and would love to get out in nature more often. Taking a walk in the park by yourself is a great way to clear your head and enjoy the peaceful nature.
Seems perfectly reasonable to me to go for a walk by yourself in a park or trail near your home in the suburbs in the middle of the day with your phone on you and in a familiar area. Plus you are an adult and can make that judgment for yourself just fine 😁 If we never did anything that had a potential risk, we couldn’t do anything at all

I'm so glad your vids are showing back up in my feed!! I have used a Fitbit for 9 years now. I'm more addicted to my sleep score than my steps now tho. HAHA! So, I'm sticking with Fitbit for that reason. I used to easily get 10K steps a day and I thought about changing my goal to 12K but lately I've been getting just under 10K so this motivates me to get back to making sure I hit that goal!! Thanks!

I love my Fitbit. I have the smallest one just because I don't like a big watch and I really only track my steps. Until recently when I started a cardio workout video and it tracks the calories and heart rate for that and like others pointed out, I sync it to WW and add to my weeklies! I typically try for 8,000 a day, but am happy when I only get 5 somedays! Thanks for always being a great motivator and inspiration. Glad I found you UA-cam!!

I try to walk 3 to 4 days a week. I lost 100 lbs. walking helped me a lot. I’ve tried a lot of different watches,my favorite is a Fitbit. It’s the most accurate. Happy walking.

Yes!! I take my own walk after walking my doggie as well. He's a great walker but it's not the same as actual activity and of course he needs to go potty and loves to stop here and there to sniff and check things out. When going solo or with my husband I can really walk with purpose, no stopping. Good for you!

I've had a fitbit for years and I love it. One of the cool features is that it tracks "zone minutes" which are periods of high intensity activity, which is essentially when your heart rate is elevated and you are burning more fat. That could be helpful even for your non-cardio workouts. Its also nice that you get badges for hitting certain milestones, which can be good to boost motivation.

I take Sundays off. I am maintaining a 130 lb weight loss. I love my Fitbit Sense for tracking, I use the free version of the FitBit app. I walk alone quite a bit of the time, when I do I have my big dog, bear spray and leave my earbuds at home. I love my Apple watch and get between 10,000 to 15,000 steps each day. My DIL loves her Garmin watch because it has a better battery life on it. My neighbor loves her Fitbit. They all track steps and workouts. It just depends on what other features you would like. For instance, I get my texts and can make phone calls whether I have my phone with me or not. Of course there is a monthly fee for that, but being a senior, it gives me peace of mind that I can call for help if needed. Thank you for being such an inspiration to all.

p.s. just noticed Amazon is having a prime deal - the fitbit versa 4 is significantly discounted. Also, I bought some cheap elastic bands to replace the strap that came with the watch. The strap is good quality but I love the ease of taking the tracker on and off quickly with the elastic bands. Also, when I put the tracker in my pocket, the elastic flattens out and I don’t even notice the device.

I just started walking again today. It rained on me on and off, but it was so invigorating and talking and greeting neighbors walking their dogs. Everyone is so friendly and happy! We are all on a fitness journey! Wonder if anyone has the same problem, that I can't walk in the morning before pooping. And sometimes that prompts another stop at a restroom, after a mile or so. Does anyone else have that problem?

Back in the olden days when I had to get in the car and drive my route to measure my miles steps were not a thing. My coach explained to me that it takes just as many calories to walk a mile as it does to run a mile. There are benefits to both. Walking won out for me but a year later I was training for a 5K. It all started with walking a half a mile. Like you said just move.

You look great! I lost 40 lbs. in a year but cutting calories and walking one hr. a day and trying to get a minimum of 10,000 steps a day - usually much more. I have the Fitbit luxe and upgraded to a bigger screen with the Fitbit Versa 4 (which I just got this summer). I love it and it really helps me keep on track. However, your steps will not track accurately with this one or any tracker if you do not move your arms. You cannot hold onto a treadmill or walking pad. My Versa will count steps in my pocket if I put the tracker sensor in face down next to my body - doesn’t have to be touching. I have it in my leggings pocket. I have compared this to my other tracker and a regular pedometer and it is extremely close in step counts. Good luck to you, and I always enjoy seeing your smiling face. Love, LOVE spending time with your precious dogs also!

Another idea about rewards if you end up getting a fitness tracker - look in to Yes.Fit virtual races. You can pick a race to work on and your steps can count towards completing the race. I have mine set to only count my exercise steps so it takes me longer to complete a race. It's always nice when I finish a race and my token or medal comes in the mail. 😊

I have an Apple Watch currently but really miss my FitBit!! I’ve heard good things about the Garmin watches though. I feel like it’s best if they’re all about fitness and don’t have every phone app on it (like Apple Watch)

When I track my steps on my iphone, I find that riding in a car (or whatever vehicle) made my steps increase, even though I was not walking. So a long car ride could give me a significant amount of steps sometimes.

Walking videos are an option when you can’t walk outside…or dancing/marching to your favorite songs…

Yes, sidestepping, forward/backward walking, figure 8s, 4-square stepping, step-ups, and more. Music really helps.

Walking after you eat a meal very much changes your insulin response to the meal you ate. It definitely reduces belly fat.

That's a big accomplishment! I keep wanting to walk but don't! I need to for my health and my pupper loves when we go. Lazy I guess!

I love my Apple Watch. It tracks all my steps and also collects really great health data. Ask Santa to bring you one! 🥰

That is how I gave myself plantar fasciitis, i was doing my step challanges and didn't buy theproper shoes. Now i can't walk. Make sure you roll out and massage your calves. Don't end up like me.

10k a day was to much for me to maintain 😢 it effected my sleep after a while. Wish I could’ve kept it up. But now 8k a day is my sweet spot. 😊

Fit bit one is my favorite bc Apple Watch I love but I feel like the fit bit one that clips to my clothes is more accurate and not as expensive as a watch but I love my apple Apple Watch bc I can take calls if I forget my phone

Great work, but I hope people realise that 10 thousand steps@4ks per/hr is the same as 6,000 steps@7ks per hour. You can walk a faster pace, save an hour a day and burn the same amount of energy
