I've always said if you can work in the cold you can absolutely fish in it and which would you rather be doing when you can choose. You're doing a great job Mark keep the information coming buddy
those are 3 good choices, If I could add a 4th, it would be a 7' to 7'4" MH cranking rod something that can do everything from a squarebill to medium divers, lipless crankbaits, and topwater walking baits.
I really love this video. I have somewhere between 16 and 20 rods now. And a lot of them are really nice combos. But I remember a day not too awful long ago where I really had to mind a budget. I can’t stand videos where they come on and tell you you need to buy high-end rods to be able to fish with. That just isn’t practical for a lot of people. And I also love they get off the couch and go fishing comment. Thanks, Mark.
Great info. I've gotten used to 7'2" rods, M-MH, for all of my general purpose applications. Ardent makes a really nice and affordable 7'2" MF baitcast rod and Sixgill used to carry a really affordable 7'2" MMF spinning rod. I mostly use these three rods.
Excellent choices..I personally am not good at finesse fishing so I would grab a flipping and pitching rod..the last rod you talked could also be a F&P rod..
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to create these videos to help us out. I live in the Midwest and spinning rods are the go to! Keep dropping knowledge 👍
Great video. I don’t as much attention to powers as I do actions. I like a 7’0” M / F spinning rod and then for bait caster I’ll go one rod Moderate - Moderate fast (parabolic), I prefer closer to moderate fast. Then the last rod fast action. Rod powers I’ve kinda gotten away from because hook diameter and line diameter have become more important to me since there doesn’t seem to be any consistency between brands in what they consider M, MH, or H. I have H power rods that fish like MHs and MHs that fish like Hs. So I’ve gone to relying on line diameter and type to achieve what I’m looking for. Braid tightens a rod up and mono loosens a rod up, with fluoro being more neutral effect. …. My thought is to find a rod manufacturer you like and then work within their series of rods to find the rod actions your seeking.
Excellent video Mark-it makes it hard for people new (or not new) to the sport to assist with rod choices. My wife feels my “arsenal” is too large (we all know that’s impossible lol)-but your choices were spot on. This time of year and others you can save So much money with clearance and deals and be ready for next year.
Mark can you do a video on the CA delta I know you crushed it out here and I’d love to hear your thought on baits and seasons! Love the content brotha! And Merry Christmas
Man great video. I fish mostly out a canoe with 4to 6 rods, at a time and no doubt a spinning outfit makes it, then 7ft mh then 7ft 4 h and I like throwing big baits so I bring a nice 7ft 11 cranking stick, but if you have them 3 you Def can go out and get it done
Yo big cheese those rod racks are flippin sweeeeet, did you get the blueprints/plans to build those online? If ya MacGyvered those puppies up then props there, I tried building one but it turned out straight buns
I went to Walmart and got myself a baitcaster with directions to buy a big Castro when there's large patches the whole thing good morning have a copper top water good price aircraft
Man I really struggle narrowing it down to 6 rods when I fish something like a Toyota Series as a Co. I guess I have certain rods that I like for certain applications, add into that not knowing what we will be doing or what I might be able to capitalize on that the boater might not be targeting.
1……….. Good fishing line/braid 2………. You better be a good angler I have $1400+ Rod/Reel combos and I’m not Brand loyal either, but know how to is key. I’m 100% sure I can still slay fish with a $100 combo from Walmart.
Hey fam what's up it's your boy Bass Master Brown I have several of seven foots rods 6/6 6/8 I just order me a new baitcaster motor and I'm going to put her on a 7/3 ABU Pole do you think that is a good choice hit me back and let me know okay fam.
If I’m taking 3, I’m going a 7’4” medium heavy, 7’0” Medium heavy spinning, and a 6’10” medium. Thats going to cover the majority of tackle I currently use.

Glad you made this video! 7ft MH is the best all around rod for me! Can’t wait to see you fish next year on MLF!

Good pointers I'm debating whether or not to get me at least 2 more baitcasters
Great video. Could you do a video about tips for high school anglers?
Joker said get off the couch!!!! 😅😅😅 If that didn’t hit home!!!
😢 but my couch 🛋️ is so comfy in the winter time 😂. Thanks for the break down big dawg 💯🤝.
Where you get that awesome fishing rod stand!?
Custom build
Yo big cheese those rod racks are flippin sweeeeet, did you get the blueprints/plans to build those online? If ya MacGyvered those puppies up then props there, I tried building one but it turned out straight buns
What jig is that?
👍🏾
Think I missed the action of the 3rd rod?? The first was med heavy casting second med heavy spinning...3rd 7ft2 in to 7ft6 in....action?
My bad it was Heavy action
Thx I have a heavy rod that I bought for froggin but have never used it...seems so stiff and heavy,,..maybe I'll give it a try
I went to Walmart and got myself a baitcaster with directions to buy a big Castro when there's large patches the whole thing good morning have a copper top water good price aircraft
So what was the power/action of the last rod? Bc they dont come in "meat and potato"
What brand of rod rack is that and where did you get it??

Tournament fishing makes this a lot harder unfortunately
What about the gear ratio mark.,,

you are funny, but true! my ass is planted, too cold outside! 😅
1……….. Good fishing line/braid

Don't be a wisherman, get off the couch go be a fisherman. Top three 100%
Yessir 💪🏾
Mark....you never said the action for your 3rd rod 😂. Was it a heavy action?
😂😂 Talking too much 7’3” Heavy 👊🏾
Hey fam what's up it's your boy Bass Master Brown I have several of seven foots rods 6/6 6/8 I just order me a new baitcaster motor and I'm going to put her on a 7/3 ABU Pole do you think that is a good choice hit me back and let me know okay fam.
Sounds good to me boss!! Best of luck 🤙🏾
Can see where and why they don’t ever sell hex rods lol dudes got ton of them 😂
Can't catch a bass sitting on the couch!!
I think you are confusing power for action. You haven’t said anything about action (moderate, fast, extra fast).
If I’m taking 3, I’m going a 7’4” medium heavy, 7’0” Medium heavy spinning, and a 6’10” medium.
Thats going to cover the majority of tackle I currently use.
Sounds about right 🤙🏾
Yes i use 7' rods all day med hvy to med moderate works great
Mark I'd love too fish with you
